On a mission to share the beauty of Mexican culture through food, Chef Johnny Curiel opens Cozobi Fonda Fina as an encore to his beloved LoHi restaurant, Alma Fonda Fina. Named after Cozobi, the Zapotec god of corn, Cozobi Fonda Fina is rooted in Mexico’s centuries-old corn nixtamalization traditions and wood-fire cooking techniques that define its rich food history.

We had a fantastic experience at the chef’s counter. The menu has options in each of four courses. The chef suggested that we order one item from each course for two to share. Alternatively, one might order two items in each of the first three courses. We opted for the former and the amount was just right. We also had their tres leches dessert - OMG. Every item was amazing - not merely good. To top it off - dinner plus drinks did not break the bank. Many thanks to the team for an amazing experience - we’ll definitely go back.

Sat at the chefs table and Johnny himself served and informed us. Boulder and Denver lucky to have this guy bringing authentic tastes and haute cuisine from his native Mexico. Everything was amazing including wine from the new ‘Napa’ of Mexico. Such a special evening and experience! Very down to earth and amazing chef!

We ate at the chef's counter and shared 5 dishes and dessert. The food was superb, and the portions were surprisingly generous. Chris, who seemed to be running the kitchen, was our server. He was excellent and had a great sense of balancing being attentive and giving us space. He also did an awesome job of describing the dishes and took our many compliments with the humble pride of someone who cares about their craft. The counter was surprisingly quiet, as the kitchen had a zen vibe, with the chefs quietly and steadily pumping out dish after dish without ever seeming hurried, though the restaurant was packed. I look forward to returning and trying their sister restaurant in Denver.

Very creative menu. Small plates allow sharing with your table. Fun restaurant to take out of town guests or share a special occasion. Plan ahead because reservations are difficult to make.

My fourth or fifth visit, for good reason. The best most creative cooking in Boulder. Highlights were the sea bass with a light curry and perfectly cooked fish, the Caesar salad tasted like it just came off the farm, with a delicious dressing and generous portion, and the sweet potato is the bomb!. I tell anyone who is dining at Cozobi that the sweet potato is a must. Oh and I love the herbaceous avocado margarita!

Really enjoyed our evening sitting at the kitchen counter for an amazing dinner. It's a great experience getting to chat with a chef and learn about the dishes and then have them serve you and discuss your impressions. The food and drinks were simply outstanding! And the service was an awesome experience.
