Coucou is a celebration of aperitif culture and artisanal cocktails. Inspired by the timeless bars and bistros of France, Coucou intersects traditional French fare with Coastal California produce, prepared over a live-fire grill. The food menu was created by Bouchon-alum, Chef Jacob Wetherington. Coucou has two locations: Venice and West Hollywood. Both spaces embody convivial elegance, pairing elevated French favorites with ice-cold classic cocktails, California and French wines, and an informed selection of French Aperitif.

Beautiful setting, solid food — but disappointing pricing tactics. We came to Coucou expecting a lovely dinner and left with a $400 bill for two — 30% of it in hidden fees and tips. The restaurant adds a 20% mandatory service fee (which we weren’t told about clearly), claiming it helps pay staff better — which we support in principle. But then the server tells you “tip not included”, making you feel like you still need to tip another 10–20%. If you’re going to charge this way, at least be upfront before ordering, and don’t frame it like a traditional tip is still expected. In France, service is included — tips are small and optional. This felt like double-tipping without transparency. We’d gladly pay higher food prices for a fair wage model. But this unclear and costly structure left a bad taste, despite an otherwise good experience.

From the moment we arrived, felt completely taken care of AND then the most delicious food arrived (beautifully timed/coursed out) concluding with dessert (oh myyyy). So yeah, great value, delightful evening, experience was a bit element of the wonderful time there!!!

We loved our waiter and the food was very good. A little noisy on the patio with SMB there—maybe they need quieter, and mellow music played? Maybe a water featire outside?

We had a terrific meal. Our server - James - was gracious, knowledgable and fun. The food was really tops. Best onion soup in town.

food was great, service was great. we had a early reservation so there were only a couple of other tables. Even so, the noise level was almost unbearable. By the time the restaurant was almost full, I couldn't hear the person sitting across from me. I'd recommend some acoustical changes. All this aside, I would go back as the food is great.

Put off initially when hostess made it a point to remind us of the 90 minute table time limit. There were two of us. Unnecessary. Then it took at least 5 min for a server to come to the table to take a drink order or offer water. Seemed like restaurant was understaffed. And, they auto-charge you 20% for gratuity which I generally don’t mind but you have to provide service worth the 20%.
