Clyde is an approachable, wine-focused restaurant in Capitol Hill, Denver. In addition it also houses an affordable modern design store. Clyde Ratings and Reviews
Food was overpriced and mediocre. Service started off scattered and slow and just got worse as the night went on. Appetizers took nearly 30 minutes, forgotten and late drink orders. Interior is plain and kind of dingy, especially for a place that is supposed to be closely tied with design. The layout of the seating is awkward and the tables and chairs are low quality. Definitely will not be coming back.
Clyde was great! The service was wonderful and food was delicious. We got a few plates to share and enjoyed them all. Drinks were yummy and refreshing, and everything was well-priced for the portions and quality. The restaurant was pretty empty, which I'm guessing is because it's fairly new and in a tough location for any walk-ins, but hopefully more people in the neighborhood find out about it soon! I will certainly be back :)
We had a lovely dinner at Clyde - we stumbled into their Sunday supper, a prix fixe menu which was a fantastic deal. I had the hanger steak with lavender chimichurri, and my husband had the braised goat shepherd's pie. The cocktails were tasty, and the wine list was reasonable. The desserts were on the smaller side, but delicious. Everything felt like a great meal, and the bill was a very pleasant surprise.
Personal touch from everyone, including the owner. They obviously take pride and care when planning and serving their food. We are old Le Central customers and will make Clyde our new lunch or singer dinner spot after visiting DBG or the Art museums in the area.
A bad dining experience. Asked a question about wine, server said "I haven't tried all of them, I don't know". Asked to have courses staggered and everything came out at once. Nearly empty place with strange decor. Played up wine motif, but again, could not tell us anything about wine. VERY disappointed
We weren't impressed. For such an event as Mother's Day brunch, one would have thought they would have had the restaurant properly staffed. Service was slow and just not that good. Food wasn't seasoned. Aside from the kids' pancakes, none of us enjoyed our meals. Will definitely not be going back.
Clyde deserves a little love, so I'm writing this review. Located in the old Le Central location, Clyde has a number of nice, smaller rooms and interesting spaces, including an enclosed outdoor eating area and a small design shop in back. None of that matters though, it's the food that will bring you back. We've eaten at Clyde twice already, and every single dish has been outstanding; beautiful to behold and sublime to eat. Shepherd's Pie, Smoked Chicken, and especially the Pork Osso Bucco are Fan-Freakin-Tastic! The pork belly, asparagus, and meat/cheese board apps are great as well. The wine selection is sufficient, without being overwhelming, with some terrific selections. And the black Manhattan is worth the trip all by itself. Give this place a try, you'll be glad you did.
Service was the worst ever. All places have mishaps but the waiter was terrified of dealing with us so disappeared. Our food took an half and hour in between small dishes then one entree had run out even though it was 7pm. Perhaps works for a couple not in a rush, but don't go as a group ever.
My fiancé and I chose Clyde while on vacation celebrating our engagement. The owner Chris and staff gave us the best dining experience and hospitality imaginable. Food and wine were both fantastic. We'll be thinking about that dinner for years to come.
My boyfriend and I went to Clyde last night and had a great time. Our food was tasty and the portion sizes were good. They were able to accommodate us as vegans too, so that was a huge plus... The vegetable dishes were unique. Make sure to check out the wine list!
Fabulous! The charming spare restaurant was a erfect setting for midweek lunch. The menu offered "Weekday Brunch" and provided a delightful assortment of specialty dishes. We had the chicken and waffles and the Frittata with Salmon. Both were exquisite. The Frittata had marvelous seasoning and was full of veggies and a nice portion of salmon. The chicken and waffles was better than the usual soul food offering. We loved every minute of he meal. Service was impeccable. We are surely coming back.
We had an excellent dining experience at Clyde's! The four of us thought everything was on point! Great atmosphere, wonderful waitress, the appetizers and main dishes were presented beautifully, were delicious and were prepared to perfection!!
Yes!!! We will recommend Clyde's for dinner and will definitely return the next time I'm in Denver!!!
Our first visit to Clyde was positive in almost every way. They have an excellent bar (most of the traffic was there). I especially enjoyed an Old Fashioned cocktail made with smoked ice. Not something you find every day. There was an impressive list of appetizers. My wife had a tasty dish with a 1/2 chicken- it really was half the bird with lots of leftovers. I tried the pork osso bucco with greens and a side of carrots. A lot of good food, and the gravy on the pork was a standout. A small issue, and one for restaurant to deal with, was that the dining area was only sparsely occupied at 8 on a Saturday. They need more advertising including more obvious signage to inform the public that Clyde is first and foremost a bar/restaurant (a housewares store with the same name is at the rear). But overall, highly recommended!
Late Brunch on a Sunny Saturday afternoon in the Sunroom.
Our server was excellent, as was the food. Truly excellent service (attentive but not intrusive). Good wine recommendations. The perfectly-poached short ribs benedict was a religious experience.
A big thank you to the folks at Clyde. We'll be back!
This was our second time and Clyde and it did not disappoint! We went for the Sunday prix fixe dinner and it was nothing short of amazing. The food was perfectly time to come out when we were ready for each course. The wine was excellent and the staff is very knowledge about everything they are serving. We will def be back!
A good meal, though it seemed a little pricey for what it was, though maybe I'm just not keeping up with the cost of dining out in our increasingly hip city. I had the special, beef cheeks ravioli, and didn't think it was all that great, kind of "gloppy," but the other person who ordered it seemed to enjoy it very much. The charcuterie platter that we ordered from the table was very nice. It is nice and QUIET which was wonderful! Though I hope that their business picks up for their sake. The service ended up being a little rushed because we were headed to a play and should have told them that the moment we arrived instead of a few minutes in--still, considering that they were not busy, it seemed like the service lagged a bit. Extremely friendly, welcoming, and eager to please, though. A nice-looking bar area, though we went directly to our table. It is a wine-focused place, but our one beer-drinker was happy with their beer selection. All in all a very nice evening.
Le Central had such an eye-catching outside, and now that they have pulled down those decorations but not effectively replaced or repaired some of resulting holes, the place still looks a bit unfinished from the street. There also is a sign in one window (Kevin something-or-other) that makes it look like an office instead of a restaurant. Even though there are clearly marked "open" signs, I wonder if the overall look is making people think it's NOT open? Just a thought for management from someone who drives past the place every morning. I want you to be succesful!
By the way, I didn't see it on the website, but they have some large meals serving 2-4 people that can be ordered a couple of days in advance, including I believe a Morroccan lamb feast of some sort...I was intrigued by that.
Clyde is a lovely update to what was Le Central. We were very sad when Le Central closed but not any more. Clyde is named for the Chris's dog. Clyde's menu is creative, the presentation is perfect, and the food delicious. We started with polenta fries and barata for appetizers - these were exceptional. Our main courses arrived with 3 people serving them so the 4 of us had our food exactly at the same moment. I had the wedding soup, which was the best I've ever had and ginger spiced carrots, which my husband kept eating so I didn't get as many as I wanted. My husband savored his salmon platter. Our friends enjoyed their selections as well but I cannot remember what they ordered. The happy hour white wine from Portugal was a good pairing with our food. My husband and I shared a s'mores type dessert that was sweet and rich. .
