Great brunch, cocktails and service. I agree with other diners’ reviews about the added charge with the strange explanation. It’s an extra 16% but it isn’t a gratuity? And what is a “commission” in this context? Sounds like the restaurant needs to just pay their people a living wage and add nothing extra to the bill, or include a gratuity. We were confused and weren’t sure if the amount we added to bring the extra amount up to 25% was sufficient for our server, who did a great job.it’s an odd thing to feel when you leave a restaurant…

Great food and great service. We sat outdoors and the staff were attentive, etc. However, there's a lot of street noise from loud cars racing down the street. At times it was impossible to hear anyone at the table due to the noise. The restaurant has an included 16% service fee, which came as a surprise at the end of the night. It's unclear if the service fee is for the staff or for profit margins. If the former, then they should just make it 20% and refuse tipping; if it's for the latter, just raise your prices so that people know how much they can expect to pay. Either way, it was an unpleasant surprise.

Went for Mother’s Day brunch. Food and service was excellent. Not very crowded at all. It was a bit warm and they had no AC running. With garage doors open the train horn was super loud and we counted 4 trains come by in the hour or so we were there. I’ve been here before for dinner service and the ambiance was nice.

Great Mother’s Day brunch. The salad and pasta was a little salty but still tasted good. The confusing part was on the service charge. I read the bill and assume the service charge is meant to give higher hourly rate and benefits to employees. However still felt odd if I didn’t leave an additional tip

Food flavors were amazing (10/10), however the portions were very poor for the price. Hubby wanted to grab fast food after to fill up :( For $120 meal, that’s terrible (that was only drinking water!). The noice was loud, had to yell to communicate, which was not romantic. Kitchen is open, which adds to noice. Restaurant adds a 16% service charge to meal, and then you have to tip on top of that.

I felt bad for the gentleman waiting on us. We got there early and it took an hour and a half for the food to show up. Don't know what the deal was with the kitchen as it took forever to process our simple order. When it came, it was lukewarm. Mine was cooked the way I wanted it, but my wife's lamb came undercooked. It was one of our worst dinners we have had in a long time.

I have been to this restaurant many times with different family members and we all love the food. this time it was soooo dark, I cold not see what I was eating. also for the first hour unbearably loud, we were shouting at each other. I love the food here, but this was not the best experience for my 93 year old mother and her 101 year old friend.

I was expecting some "wow" with my prix fixe Easter brunch, but it was more "meh." The choices were great - chicken and waffles, salmon Benedict, leg of lamb, pasta. Menu descriptions oversold the food which did not live up to the enthusiastic language. The salmon Benedict was delicious and well-seasoned, but it and the potatoes were room-temperature on arrival. The chicken was overcooked. Scorched breading enveloped dry chicken breast. The waffle was also dry and served with an inadequate portion of maple syrup-or anything else to mitigate the dryness of the overall dish. The leg of lamb - two slices of lamb on a bed of polenta - was delicious and well seasoned, but again, lukewarm and more tough than succulent. I was hoping the meal would be something special. It was good, but not excellent. At $50 for soup or salad, brunch entree, and bread pudding, and another $25 for beverages per person, this was not a good value. I enjoyed spending time with my family, and we will return to clarklewis for dinner some time, but will skip the "special" prix fixe meals.

Wonderful meal. I felt like there was a sneaky 16% service charge added, but it was noted that it wasn't a tip and only mention was in small print on the bill. I may have missed this communication along the way, but it left me confused as I was trying to pay and took away from the culinary experience.

Starters, particularly the Caesar salad, and mains were lovely. Cocktails and mocktails were delightful, too. Desserts need work. Any $16 fancy cookie/pizzokie served in a basic skillet better be incredible. It wasn’t, and the maple bourbon ice cream that accompanied it was more smoked mezcal.

The wait staff was excellent, but when we arrived we were ignored by the host while he read on his phone for over a minute. The food was tasty, but not great, especially for the price. We’ve had better food at more reasonable prices at other restaurants in the city. They also add a surcharge to the total price, and that’s not a tip for the wait staff. We’ve been here a couple times and have never been impressed.

I keep coming back here. The food always wows. The service is great. I love the ambience. Only caution is that noise carries, so if the restaurant is full (or even half-full) it can be hard to hear the conversation at your own table. I prefer coming here as a party of two versus a larger group because it is just hard to hear everyone.
