The next installment of our Friends of the Blọk dining series welcomes Nigerian national treasure, acclaimed author, and culinary anthropologist, Ozoz Sokoh for a celebration of her new trailblazing cookbook Chop Chop: Cooking the Food of Nigeria—a vibrant ode to the foundations of Nigerian home cooking and the foodways that unite a nation of over 250 ethnicities. Guided by Sokoh’s culinary storytelling, our Blọk Captain, Ope Amosu, joins forces with emerging Nigerian chefs Olayemi Thomas and Shade Ojelade to present a progressive multi-course menu inspired by the pages of Chop Chop—blending time-honored technique with modern interpretations of West African cuisine, where each course offers a window into Nigerian heritage while reimagining its future on the plate. Each ticket includes a signed copy of Chop Chop, inviting guests to continue the journey long after the final bite. About Ozoz Sokoh: Ozoz Sokoh is a food explorer, educator, and traveler by plate, whose work celebrates the breadth of Nigerian and West African cuisine. A former exploration geologist, she believes that food is more than eating - it is history, culture, identity and more. Her debut cookbook, Chop Chop: Cooking the Food of Nigeria explores Nigerian cooking, as well as connections to the West African diasporas, and global cuisines. Her research and documentation focus on reclaiming and reimagining foodways, while celebrating the joy of eating. Her ongoing project, Coast to Coast maps edible links in food, drink, utensils, and culinary practices. Ozoz is a professor of Food and Tourism Studies at Centennial College in Ontario and makes her home with her three teenage children in Mississauga, part of the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. First time going and definitely won't be our last! Service was great and the food was wonderful. I had the motherland dish and it was so good! I am a vegetarian and love all the options and recommend the motherland to other vegetarians (and meat eaters.)

My husband and I came here on a double date with friends. This was our first time dining here and I must say it was worth trying. We enjoyed everything we ordered. From the drinks to the appetizers. Our waiter was very kind and attentive. We will be back soon.

I love a vibe with ChopnBok. Food and drinks as well had always been amazing. My experience with service this visit was disappointing or maybe just not as focused as I had become accustomed to. However, it was corrected and accommodated for once I asked. Hostesss do an amazing job here.

First off, the place is beautiful. Everyone is friendly, staring with the valet to the fellow who saw me a little loss walking in through the big crowd leaving and waved me over to the registers AND came around the counter to meet and greet me. Our waitress was great and honest. The drinks were tasty and did what they were made to do! The food… perfection. Full of flavor. We ordered four dishes and we eat it all. Each of us were full as a tick leaving there. We each mentioned people we plan to bring back to try out ChopNBlok for the first time OR experience this beautiful full service restaurant. As a patron from the pop ups to the counter service to the restaurant, this is the blueprint! Congratulations! We will be back. A total vibe.
