About Chop Shop
Chop Shop is a fun and relaxing place to have a bite pre and post theatre, to meet friends, or to linger and enjoy good food and company at leisure. The menu and atmosphere encourage sharing of plates or choosing from the menu as you please.
Both menu and design of Chop Shop combines the spirited and edgy influences of New York and London, creating a lively neighbourhood restaurant. The menu itself includes some Altamarea New York City favourites, including Morini Meatballs, the Patty Melt Burger Sandwich, as well as new collaborative dishes such as the Cottage Pasta Pie. Chop Shop highlights its ‘Steaks and chops,’ serving USDA Hanger alongside, beef, pork and lamb cuts from Lake District Farmers. Salads and other exciting main courses round out the seasonally focused menu choices. The house cocktail selections are also inspired by both New York and London and include the Haymarket, a version of the Manhattan and Celery Gimlet, a blend of celery infused gin and lime juice.

Chop Shop Ratings and Reviews
We made a chance booking - looking for a non-chain restaurant with good food & reviews close to Trafalgar Square. Overall the food was excellent - I had one of the best pork chops I've ever had - badly let down by the sprouts - worst ever. Drink prices were eye watering. Service was not the swiftest but we were in no particular hurry so good to be able to sit and chat. We would not hesitate in eating here again.
Disappointed, the premises looked tired, the back room was cold and draughty next to the kitchen, when the food arrived the steak wasn't cooked as ordered and the burger was warm both were sent back. The meal didn't represent value for money at all. We were on a special weekend in London this spoilt the evening totally. The wine was over priced, will not go again and wouldn't recommend to anyone else.
Dropped in before show. Could not make mind up whether to go steak, or burger. We decided on burgers, and were not disappointed. I had chilli burger, cooked medium and it was delicious. One of best burgers I have had. Partner loved her burger wich! Fries were perfect. Staff friendly and efficient. Price about right for quality of food. We will use again, when down in London again
Nice looking restaurant very friendly staff but very cold in draft from door, didn't have the special offer rib chop but substituted if for a much smaller ribeye steak but offered no discount until challenged, basically got the starters free so £4 off per steak which didn't seem much.
I booked at chop shop as a pre-theatre meal for my boyfriend’s birthday. The staff were just the right amount of attentive without it being intrusive, the food was delicious and cooked to order. I highly recommend the wings! We used the express menu which made for better value, only paying £1 more than the cost of a main for a starter thrown in! The staff brought out a complimentary pudding with a candle when we asked for the bill, which was a nice touch. All service is included in the bill but they definitely earned it! Highly recommended!
I saw a picture on Instagram that I couldn't resist. It was the rib steak. Luckily, my friend and I were headed to London so I made a reservation. Chop Shop did not disappoint. I can recommend the rib steak, filet, Nonna's Meatballs and the gem salad. Two weeks later after a plane delay in India, I spent the night in London due to overnight connection. Where did I head to? Chop Shop! The burger and fries were deeeeelish. Shared Nonna's meatballs and the gem salad with my colleague. So worth the drive from our Heathrow hotel. Chop Shop, you are on my rotation. I'll stop in whenever visiting or a long layover.
Pre-theatre menu was good value but don’t get the chips which are a rip-off at £4 per small pot. Atmosphere is quieter in the basement which is nice for a special occasion, but staff mixed up our starters and forgot to bring over condiments, and then got a extremely surly when we reduced the service charge we wanted to give.
The Chop Shop is ideally situated in The Haymarket and ideal for a pre theatre lunch or dinner. The Barnsley chop was delicious - a substantial cut of meat - and cooked to suit my taste. The side dishes were also a good serving, and the sauces were full flavoured and suited the cuts of meat available. The Bernaise was buttery and the salsa verde sharp and punchy. Our waitress was very attentive and pleasant, keeping an eye on when to refill glasses or the water bottle. I would go again.
Eaten here before so recommended for a friend's leaving dinner. Staff happily upped the reservation from 6 to 9 guests at short notice so appreciated that! Food was delicious when we received it but problem is that we had to wait 40mins for it. Think they may have to forgotten our order as other tables were getting their food and it was already past the pre theatre rush. We asked for it a few times and told it would be coming out soon a number of times by our waitress (she was polite but just disappointed) One of our group was a pregnant lady so had to ask for some bread whilst we waited as she was feeling faint without food. When bill arrived, half expected them to have comped at least drinks or taken off service charge due to the very long waiting time. Had to ask them to take off service charge. Would love to come back again with friends but bit worried if this was to happen again!
We booked Chop Shop as a pre show dinner. Great choice. Very pleasant place to eat, great food, wonderful service. We ordered too much food and they were gracious enough to cancel some of our order even though it was already in the oven cooking. Will return next time in London.
My husband and I went here for our wedding anniversary and when we arrived we were greeted with two glasses of champagne which I thought was really thoughtful and sweet of them to do. We ordered ribs as an appetizer but they were dry and hard so we had to send them back. I ordered the filet which was perfect and I had the onion rings and they were soooooooo freaking good. The batter was light and airy not at all greasy best rings ever. My hubby the ribeye it was good but he said the filet was better, I had to agree. All in all great food and service and nice restaurant it's not fine dinning ,so don't overdress like I did, but a smart casual restaurant.
The Chop Shop is a quirky little resturant in the heart of theatre land.
The Food was right up my street.
Starter was a pulled pork sausage roll, it was full of flavour with a spicy kick, A great way to start my lunch.
Main course was their Black & Blue burger, a beef patty smothered in blue cheese with a slice of black pudding on top, it was absolutely delicous. I would go as far to say that it was one of the best burgers I have eaten.
There were four of us in total & we all agreed that the food we had was extremely tasty.
I would say if you are looking for a great alternative to the mainstream burger resturants & grills then you have to give Chop Shop a whirl.
