Chinese laundry is a casual dinning room inspired by 80s Chinese family life and food. Food is Northern Mainland Chinese, accompanied by an exotic cocktail list with a selection of deadly Chinese white spirits (Baijiu). We are excited to share our favourite food using seasonal and quality local produce. By bringing the street breakfast memories and family dinner menu to Upper Street, we hope this will become the very first place of experiencing the 80's Chinese family life and food in London. The menu emphasises on the fewer known delicacy and tastiness picked up from our personal food memories of living in different parts of China when we grew up. Dishes here take time and heart, you will expect traditional Chinese pickles made on site, dishes been slow cooked from very early in the morning like how grandma does. Artisanal Chinese cooking process from the old times is inherited here, where aging, fermenting combines twice or even triple cooking can be easily found.

Lovely night out. Efficient, friendly service. Loved the food, especially the aubergine and salt cod and the pork belly. Fun, funky decor too.

Excellent food! Really lovely food! We were celebrating an engagement and it wasn't the right setting as the food came out so quickly, so we didn't get to chat for very long before we were all done eating. Loved all the dishes, will go back, but just for a quick meal with my husband rather than an evening out with friends.

Sorry. We did not have a good experience. It might be Ok for more authentic rustic food in rushed environment. Cocktails were crude in their presentation. The waitress was pleasant but we couldnt get anyone to wipe our table which we splahed during our meal and it wasnt busy at all and staff were wandering up and down too!

Chinese Laundry was an instant hit with me. The staff were so friendly and helpful; recommending dishes and just generally being a joy to be around. My favourite dish was the preserved egg and tofu - outstanding. For me some of the meat dishes such as the lamb was not quite as convincing - the texture was a little odd. They had an interesting cocktail menu, heavy on the baijiu (China's answer to vodka I guess). I would recommend.

This was our second visit as once you try their chicken carcass you'll find you are craving it at strange times. Our last visit was great but for some reason on this Saturday night the restaurant had run out of a few choices but our ordered choices arrived promptly. We were the last to leave and it was still before 11pm but unfortunately the staff started to clear up around us making feel rushed, which was a disappointing end to our visit.

Friendly attentive staff, nice evening, good food but forgettable If this had opened 5 years ago, you might be more impressed, but with the competition from other local restaurants this just doesn't stand out. There are better Chinese restaurants out there, this felt like a watered down version of great Chinese food, it needs to be bolder with flavours and spice.

Not good value for money. The food is mediocre and expensive and the waiter needed some tips about his service... Very dsappointed!
