Full disclosure: I rate “Steak Houses”, world-wide, under the moniker THE GLOBAL CARNIVORE…
My wife and I went to Chandler’s for dinner, on a recent road-trip through Boise Idaho.
We started off with cocktails from the martini bar. My wife had a Cosmopolitan I settled on a “Classic” gin (Hendricks) martini. Our waiter recommended a cucumber spear in the martini, which is the perfect adage to Hendricks gin, so he was well versed in martini preparation. The martini was excellent and perfectly prepared; stirred and not shaken, which left he martini crystal clear void of cloudy aeration from shaking, and no dilution from melting ice chips. One of the top-5 best restaurant martinis, I have experienced. My complements to the mixologist.
Next, my wife ordered a butterleaf lettuce salad with cashews. She said it was “well dressed”, fresh and delicious. After agonizing over the choice between escargot and carpaccio, opted for the escargot because I was ordering steak for my entree. The escargot arrived timely and hot. However, the preparation was lacking in the definitive recipe of “heavy” garlic. The lighter-garlic dish, was a bit bland. If you love the classic preparation of escargot with lots of garlic, you should probably settle on another appetizer. You will be disappointed with Chandler’s rendition.
For the main course, my wife ordered the halibut and I went for the Prime Ribeye (16-oz), ordered Medium-Rare. My wife thought the halibut tasted good, but the production/platting was over-done. The concept of KISS plating, was overlooked. My first cut into the ribeye, revealed that it was cooked to WELL. Not medium or medium-well, but well-done. No pink, no read whatsoever. I called over the waiter and told him needed another steak prepared (medium-rare).
Delicious steak! Excellent service! Try the bone marrow flan, sounds weird but so good!
Great food, atmosphere and service. It is expensive, but Chandlers is worth every penny.
Food was on point, and food was prepared in a very accommodating way for our groups various dietary needs. Outstanding food and experience !
Always amazing ambiance created with live music giving it an old loungy feel. The service is impeccable which pairs perfectly with the delectable food being served. Thank you for a highly enjoyable and memorable evening!
Food wasn’t as good as I thought it would be. Waiter was decent but manager was very rude and not a problem solver. We wanted to enjoy the piano after spending quite a lot on dinner and dessert. Couldn’t get anything near the pianist even though tables were opening. The manager was I guess, lazy, and didn’t want to figure out how to get us seated. He just said the tables in the bar are reserved even though the reservations were obviously either past the time or the people were done eating and had left. Hard to figure out how he was the manager. Go to Barbacoa or Ruth Chris’, your time would be a lot better.
Food was fantastic, delicious and fresh seafood, the steak melts in your mouth. The service was impeccable and we loved the ambiance. We will definitely go back.
My wife was so impressed . The food ambience and music was over the top. I plan on making Chandlers a regular spot.
Good steak, good wine, very friendly service, nice atmosphere but "energetic" noise level.
Price is high, but OK for a an occasional dinner
Outstanding food, and services was impeccable.
Phenomenal steak. Old school Steakhouse in the best way. Worth every penny, even though its a lot of pennies.
Still hands down the best place in Boise for a romantic upscale meal!
Chandler's continues to be one of the finest restaurants anywhere in the country. The food is of the highest quality and expertly and creatively prepared. The chef is an extremely talented individual. We've had several items on the menu and loved them all but always insist on ending the meal with the fabulous chocolate souffle. It's heaven....
Great atmosphere, great service, great food and wine!
Great restaurant but expensive. You can find some less expensive options but if you're not careful you can really run up a bill. We sat over the wall from the live music and it was hard to talk across the table. Really it's a great restaurant with great service just not worth that kind of money to me.
Date night with my husband
This is our go to restaurant for special occasions and most of the time we have a great experience. This last visit had its challenges with the service portion of the dinner, but the food was great. Hopefully our next visit is much better as I know Chandlers takes pride in all aspects of their service.
The food was excellent and loved the atmosphere. Live music in the lounge area was a nice feature to relax after a wonderful meal. The rib eye steak was outstanding as was our swordfish. Would highly recommend to those who love fine dining and price is not a concern!
Very special restaurant, with excellent food and highest quality service. Very fresh seafood and steaks are outstanding.
What a great find in Boise. Excellent food with live piano. Very enjoyable.
Chandlers was perfect to commemorate our last day of vacation, and overnight stay in Boise. The food at Chandlers was fabulous, the wine list comprehensive with reasonable price points for every wallet, and the service subperb. This classic steakhouse offered fine and ultra-premium beef and fish. We were fortunate to have Alex (a lovely young lady) as our server. She was personable, funny, and eager to make every minute of our stay enjoyable. From the menu our dishes included, the filet, the New York strip steak and halibut. All were amazing and cooked as ordered. We also enjoyed the wedge salad with rochefort dressing....yum! At the end of our meal we were treated to the chocolate soufle in celebration of our respective 70th birthdays. I would recommend Chandlers to anyone visiting or living in Boise. Treat yourselves!
Visited from out of town, California. Can’t wait to come back on our next trip to Boise. Hands down best restaurant in the city!
By far, my favorite restaurant in Boise. Over the years, it has been consistent in excellence foo, service, and ambience.
Fabulous meal and service! I highly recommend the Wagyu, mac and cheese, and chocolate souffle. Also, Lucas was our server, and he was perfect.
We cane here for our anniversary this last weekend and it was the most amazing experience we've ever had! It made us forget about all of the crazy things happening in our life right now. Our waiter Morgan was outstanding! He offered some fanastic wine options and food options! He made our experience even better with how on top he was on everything. It made for a wonderful night that we'll never forget! Definitely the most romantic resturant we've ever been to. I would highly recommend!
Chandler's always does a great job. There with friends for a birthday and everything was perfect. The best steak restaurant in Boise and one of the best I have ever been to.
I had the NY strip. It was excellent. Perfectly cooked. The sides were good as well. Overall, it was more food than I thought I’d be. The portions were big.
Amazing food and great experience during our visit to Chandlers. Ryan was our amazing waiter who helped make my mother and fathers 50th wedding anniversary celebration very enjoyable. Excellent service, great music, and incredible food. We will be back.
Fantastic food, impeccable service and a very enjoyable evening with my husband. It was his birthday and they helped him celebrate in a casual, professional, but fun way. Thank you especially to Thea, our waitress, who was wonderful! Even though it is expensive, we will return because of the excellent service and food!
The food was delicious especially the fish. Both the salmon I had and the halibut my husband had were perfectly prepared. Our salads were excellent.
Awesome. Great service and food. Never disappoints
It is a great place for dinner. Janey took excellent care of our table! Cocktails are first rate.
Classy yet very comfortable and friendly. Outstanding seafood plate,Caesar salad and chocolate soufflé. We shares each item. Great wine list. Knowledgeable, friendly and helpful somalier. We have decided we need to return at least once each month. Too great a boise treasure to be missed.
We were in Boise for one night and found this via Tripadvisor. We were casual dressed and that was okay. We wanted a good peace of meat. We had the cowboy cut and the fillet mignon. Excellent! Overall it was expensive but nice ambiance and good food. Live music stopped early, we were there at 8.15pm. We had a nervous waiter but he was friendly.
Everyone deserves a night to dress up, dine well, and be extravegant. Chandlers is the venue
to live that experience. From a great off the main strip location, to the moment you drive up and are greeted by professional valet, to great hosting, the experience before dining is fluid, professional and will impress especially on a date. Waiting at the bar for your table, the bar staff is phenomenal, the selection is top notch and creates a great ambience and fun transition to ease into the dining. Every staff member has great situational awareness, always making sure at just the right time that you're being taken care of. The layout is cozy and sexy, the menu isn't pretentious, its a beautiful mingling of traditional and contemporary, with fresh ingredients, local ingredients where best suited, cooked to perfection, and presented in a way that isn't trying to be something it's not. The wait staff, cares, genuinely, it shows and makes you feel both like a regular but still keeping a sense of newness in the experience. Try something from every part of the menu, you won't be disappointed.
Absolutely wonderful! It was truly a great dining experience! I would highly recommend for any special occasion.
Excellent steak! The wagyu filet was amazing. The sommelier was nice, full of information and didn’t act uppity.
Great service, food was slightly above average
Fabulous upscale establishment to enjoy an evening out together.
Awesome, well taken care of.
