Located in the epicenter of Tampa’s booming SoHo District, Chakana is an artsy eatery and lounge that combines contemporary Peruvian and South American Flavours with a South Florida vibe to elevate the dining and nightlife experience. The menu features signature favorites including our Ceviche Mixto, Lomo Saltado and our delicious Jalea. Chakana will be open for lunch and dinner six days a week with happy hour starting at 5PM.

For every entree our table ordered, each one was missing something from the description on the menu. Very disappointing

The food was good and tasty. We found the appetizers, such as the Empanadas and Yucas, a little pricey for the what we received. The main course portions were quite generous, though. We were disappointed that they were out of Lucuma Ice Cream. You can't call yourself a Peruvian restaurant if you don't have Lucuma Ice Cream!

We were looking forward to having good Peruvian food in South Tampa but Chakana Soho didn't quite meet expectations. It's still relatively new so maybe it will improve, but it's a difficult neighborhood to stand out in and they have a long way to go. They've done a nice job with the interior; it's classy, sleek and comfortable. But the very loud pulsing music was unnecessary on a weekday evening for families with small kids in tow. The ceviche Chakana was the best thing we ordered as an appetizer for the table. The rest of the meal was generally forgettable and overpriced. They do get kudos for their excellent Sangria in large goblets - at a good price. There were only 2 people working and they were over their heads. We had to flag our server down repeatedly just to order or ask for water refills. They were very nice and friendly but not professional. I'll be surprised if they survive at that location.

An odd place in an odd building that has failed to see a successful restaurant concept survive. The food is OK and has potential, but the service was almost nonexistent - literally to the point of having to get up from the table several times to retrieve a drink left sitting on the bar and requested utensils. The waitstaff seemed to have no knowledge of the menu.

Had a wonderful experience, food was great! Party of 8 took wonderful care of us. The server Claudio was great and the homemade sangria was amazing! Pescado en salsa chakana is a must try!!!

Great authentic Peruvian food in a contemporary ambience. It is a welcome addition to the south Tampa dining scene which is so deprived of good ethnic restaurants. The ceviche was yummy and causa delicious. A more extensive and diverse wine menu would be welcome. But overall a good start.
