My favorite restaurant in Baton Rouge. It’s small and cozy and the service is always top notch. You cannot go wrong with Redfish Cecelia, the best greens anywhere in Baton Rouge. This time I decided to switch it up and get the grouper special.... fantastic.
Last minute reservations and treated us like we were returning guests…everything was exceptional
Outstanding food, drinks and service. Gnocchi and spicy gator appetizers were fantastic and highly recommended. Seafood pasta and ribeye steak were cooked to perfection. The bread pudding was one of the best bread puddings I have ever had. We will definitely eat here Again in the future! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. One of the best hidden gems in the city!
2 for dinner. Waitstaff seemed disinterested. Our waitress did'nt even introduce herself. Ordered turtle soup, shrimp and grits, half cornbread, side wedge, Grouper with crawfish and side of braised collard greens.
Ordered cornbread as app. The cornbread was dry and over cooked. Even with copious amounts of cinnamon butter and syrup. Then the waitress brought the salad and soup with our entrees and side. And looked at me like I was crazy when I commented that we were getting all of it at once. The turtle soup was extremely thick and salty. It was the consistency of something left on heat way too long. Shrimp and grits were just ok. Side wedge was good. Grouper was 3-1/2 out of 5 stars. Collard greens were bitter.
I truly do not understand why this place gets 3-5 star reviews. Its pedestrian at best. This was our second visit, we came away with the same experience the first time but thought we would give it another try to be fair. Our mistake! There won't be a third visit.
Long story short, we wasted $100 on mediocrity. Plus $10 to park on a friday evening. No wonder people don't come to downtown Baton Rouge. Why would you? You will be better served at Louisiana Lagniappe or Parrain's.
We dined here on a recommendation from a friend. The food and drinks were delicious. We highly recommend the skillet cornbread appetizer, fig old-fashioned, shrimp and grits, redfish Cecilia and creme brûlée for dessert. Everything was excellent. I think the menu is perfect everything sounds delicious there is enough variety without being overwhelming. I look forward to returning here again.
My husband and I love this place. It's great for brunch or a date night. Service and food is amazing!
This was my second visit to Cecilia's Bistro. I really enjoyed my Jerk chicken and red beans meal with braised collards and cornbread. It was delicious. My server was efficient with refills and checking in with the table guests. Nestled downtown on 3rd Street. Very relaxing atmosphere.
Excellent. Food is superb; drinks are delicious; and service is exceptional. Fine dining at its finest.
My mother and I agreed it felt like a restaurant that had been remodeled in one of those restaurant revamp shows, except this one survived and thrived! Everything was so perfect and delish one would think it may have been all set up, but no, it was very real and very tasty!
The ambiance was comfortable and stylish. We had the jerk spice pork shank to start and it was a spectacular combination of sweet and spicy. The special was blackened grouper topped with shrimp, and brussel sprouts with a tasso cream sauce. The portion was huge and very delicious. The filet with whipped potatoes was amazing and the green beans were the very best I've ever had. We will be back!!
Good experience. Food was good. Excellent service and ambience.
First time, dinner with husband. Our server and service was excellent and so was the food. We’ll definitely be back. LSU was playing a home game so it wasn’t very crowded, loved that so take advantage if you’re not at the game 😊
Our server was so lovely. I like the eclectic drink menu as well as the classics. Everything was so tasty but my favorite was the eggrolls.
The food, the service and the ambiance were excellent.
Just an incredible experience. It always is. Tonight was a special occasion and the staff made us feel welcome and celebrated. We can’t thank them enough!
Superb Cajun fare. The pan corn bread appetizer is worth the trip alone, but the rest of the meal does not disappoint!
Everything was perfect!
Cornbread and redfish divine!!
Anniversary trip. Great flavors and portions on several apps. Dessert on the house. Second great meal here during a pandemic!
Food was good, atmosphere was good, service was great, things are a bit pricy.
Very nice place for a date night.
Beautiful atmosphere, very personal touches in the decor. Food was delicious and service was excellent!
We didn't know what to expect heading into a date night at Cecelia. Of course, they don't control the weather, but it was a perfect evening to be downtown. We booked a reservation on OpenTable, which made it super easy to make plans. The hostess was training as a server that evening, so our server attended to us from start to finish and was excellent. She was knowledgeable about the menu and offered careful opinions when we asked questions. My wife had the redfish, and I have the jerk chicken. Of course, we started with the cornbread. All bites were a win that night. The vibe definitely one that most would enjoy. The end.
First time here while doing LSU move-in.
Great menu, food delicious! Service was fabulous, explained the items in menu plus specials. Nice wine selection, perfectly chilled.
At bar there are TVs, we were there when they had two different sports channels on.
Good seating, tables spaced far enough apart for social distancing.
Will come back!
Fantastic food/service. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice meal.
This was our (my wife and I) first visit to Cecelias but we will certainly be back if we are ever in the downtown Baton Rouge area again. Great food, great service, nice quiet atmosphere. The jerk chicken and shrimp and grits were our choices and they were terrific.
We had an excellent experience. Great service and ambiance. Seafood pasta, filet, scallops over grits with crispy brussel sprouts, corn bread, and greens were all A plus.
Met friends for dinner tonight. Everything was wonderful. The sweet cornbread appetizer is a must get! My red fish was perfect. Server was a nice and attentive and very knowledgeable. Ambience is terrific in an old building! This place is now one of my staples. Can’t wait to come back.
Our food was delicious! We will definitely be back.
Excellent bar drinks
Very nice restaurant
Very good wait staff
Follow up from Chef
The pork belly egg rolls were bomb and the redfish was perfectly seasoned. Tried the fig old fashioned, and it's so good.
We will be back again and again
Food and service was amazing! I had the jerk chicken while my sister had the crawfish etoufee. Exceeded both our expectations. Definitely a great introduction to cajun and creole food.
Great food and service. Recommend adding a few lighter items for summer
Great service. Love the creole specialties blackened red fish and blackened grouper over grits and collared greens. Great hand crafted cocktails. Enjoyed the alligator appetizers and the pork shank appetizer also. Been there 5 tomes will be back again for sure
Delicious, consistent! Def recommend 💯
Awesome experience all the way around. Food, service and atmosphere!!
The food is so tasty, just full flavor! We had the Beef Tenderloin appetizer and the House Salad, which was dressed beautifully and topped with pickled red onion
which made the dish. My entree was Cajun Grouper topped with a Cajun sauce and Crawfish tails over Corn Maux Choux. My husband had the Pork Porterhouse topped with bacon, mushroom, onion Demi Glacé over mashed potatoes with broccolini. Outstanding food! And the music playing low enough to still hold a conversation was easy listening 60’s and 70’s. Can’t wait to go again.
Our reservation was at 8:00 on a Friday night. Most of the tables were full, but ours was ready and waiting for us. Our food was great! The gnocchi app was Delicious and of course you MUST get the cornbread. Before we ordered we asked about their desserts (we knew we wanted to share). At 9:00 we asked our waiter about ordering our desserts and was told the kitchen was closed. 😳
Good but waitress not good
great service! great food!
