Italian
Inspired by an Italy road-trip Chef Ryan and I (Arturo) took back in 2008, we’re pleased to introduce Catania, the newest member of the Whisknladle Hospitality family. Here, we’ll be featuring simple, seasonal and authentic Italian Coastal Cuisine (None of the Italian version of TexMex you see most other places). Our commitment to authenticity will be evident in our use of wood burning ovens and grills, an all Italian wine list as well as an exclusively craft Italian Beer program. (Yes, Italy has an amazing craft beer movement nobody’s heard about.)

We tried the pasting tasting, and it was excellent! We were served healthy portions of 5 different pastas, a salad, and a dessert. The service was outstanding, and the environment was beautiful. I would definitely love to visit again!

Pasta was cold. They brought it weirdly fast to my table. No way it could have been freshly made for me. It had been sitting waiting for someone to order it...delicious though once they remade it fresh and it was hot. My husband and I ate separately as his food would have gotten cold waiting for mine. Disappointing.

The food was fresh and delicious! The bartenders and waiters were great. Knew their stuff and were attentive. The host was was the exception. She either forgot about us 3 different times or didn’t know she had to actually bring us to at a table. Maybe she thought we should know which table was ours and when it was ready. Either way she didn’t care.

To say that this wasn’t the most amazing dining experience would be a huge disservice to the restaurant and staff. I’m no food critic. But I do play one on the internet. So with that said....

First off. The ambiance is so comfortable and relaxing, with gorgeous views, and a mild ocean breeze blowing through, that you can’t help but feel relaxed.

Next, our waitress, (and shame on me for not knowing her name, I apologize, but like I said, I just play a food critic on the internet), was fantastic. Helpful with the menu, cheery, and engaging. She was amazing. Again, apologies I can’t name you specifically.

Now to the food. The Antipasti- we went with the oysters as one dish, and the Pizza Focaccia with the cheese as a secondary. Both were incredible. Craveable.

Next the entree’s. We split the halibut. That’s how the wife and I roll. We’re visiting from out of town, and left overs don’t do well in hotel rooms, but it was a perfect portion. And this was no let down from the appetizer. A delicious meal.

And, quite honestly, we are not typically desert people, but because everything we had was so incredible, we couldn’t pass it up. And because it made the most sense, we went with the Dessert Trio. I’m glad we did, as it was all delicious, but the thing that both the wife and I will crave is the Nutella Semifreddo. Who ever came up with this thing has assured themselves a nice spot in heaven. Not to pile on the hyperbole, but it is Divine!

Well, I think I’ve covered all the bases. If you don’t try this, then your life will have a gaping hole, that only this could have filled.

Greet food. Reasonable beverage selection. Took a while to get our server to come over but he treated us well overall.

Nothing beats homemade pasta. Everything we had was absolutely delicious and our server had the best recommendations. Already planning my next trip back there.

Lovely dinner. The cauliflower appetizer was phenomenal, and so were the desserts. The entrees were very good; my halibut was overcooked, I thought, and the accompanying vegetable selection not to my liking. My companions found their squash ravioli and pizza very nice. I’d definitely like to explore the menu further.

Service was really first rate, attentive without being obtrusive.

I did find the restaurant a bit noisy, but I’m very sensitive.

Just short of being a top tier choice, and at a fraction of the cost.

I read that mon-wed was fresh pasta and my squid ink pasta dish was not fresh pasta! The dish was fine but somewhat bland. I received the wrong salad to begin with and fortunately the server realized it and replaced it. It seemed like the restaurant wasn’t well organized. I was hoping to have fresh pasta and an authentic Sicilian meal But that was not what I received.
