Lovely place with some of the best staff in Sacramento! Brunch is a personal favorite, great food and drinks!
I had a reservation for noon, but was there early and the host was very kind to accommodate seating us early. Service was friendly, prompt and attentive. The menu was a bit limited. I would have appreciated having the option of someone the lunch sandwich selections they have during the week. I had the carnitas benedict. While it was good, it was a bit on the heavy side for me. The wedge fries were perfectly crispy on the outside and velvety on the inside seasoned with just enough flake salt. The eggs were very runny even though I requested them to be cooked a little longer than normal, even the whites weren’t quite cooked enough for my taste. The atmosphere is modern and open, plenty of natural light makes it perfect for a Sunday brunch. It started to fill up shortly after we were seated but the atmosphere was still conducive to a conversation. Overall, it was a very good experience. I’ll be back to try other options when I’m in the area again.
So excited to find a restaurant open on Xmas Day! Was able to make our reservation in advance so easily. No wait to be seated and not rushed at all and able to enjoy delicious brunch, drinks and excellent customer service!
Great food! Great service! No complaints!
We waited about 10-15 min to be seated past our reservation time.
We waited an hour for our food, appetizers came out with the main course. Veggie burger was so overdone/burnt it crumbled on the plate, tacos very soggy. We did not eat our food, waitress never showed Up again to check on us until she made a quick go by to just drop the check at the table and kept walking. Will not return, horrible service.
Meh, it was fine. The wings, chicken sandwich, and herb fries were all good, but nothing special.
The area is very open, and tables are very close together. Maybe it would have been a bit better if we weren’t next to the door. I could see it as a good place for just beverages. Our double Titos were strong, yummy, and fantastic!
Our first time here. Service is outstanding- staff is super friendly & accommodating. Due to traffic we arrived late & notified the staff. No problem. We were seated right away & chose to sit at the bar. Our bartender Jacob was awesome. Engaging, knowledgeable, never seemed rushed even though the place was hopping. We ordered the nacho fries & they were delicious. We highly recommend Capitol garage & will definitely be back.
I think my waitress forgot about me, was outside not busy as all. 30 minutes to get salad and had to go inside to check. After food was delivered never saw her again until I went in to ask for more water. Ordered the salmon it was dry and food was lukewarm. Understand places are short staffed but never asked how it was or if I needed anything else.
Went here for brunch on a Sunday morning. Not many people eating, but time from ordering food to getting it was 40 minutes. Very noisy and was a challenge to have a conversation with friend across the table. Restaurant should invest in sound baffles on ceiling to deaden noise.
On a previous visit to Sacramento we received a glowing recommendation for brunch at Capitol Garage. I attempted to eat there on my last visit but they did not have a reservation available so this time I planned ahead and made a reservation for brunch. We were promptly greeted and seated at a table on the stage! I was super excited being that I love to be on a stage but realized that it was a bit louder than we were ready for. We asked to be moved to the patio and they were very gracious in re-seating us. We then ended up in Richard's section and he was amazing!
Our service was on point and he had some really great recommendations for meals. My friend had the Crab Cake Benedicts and he lived in Maine and loved the crab cakes. As he described them they were not too crabby and they were not to cakey, they were perfect. I had the Eggchilada which was so tasty! Way more flavorful than I expected but loved it!
I had an Irish Coffee and a Mexican Coffee and both were so delicious. Richard is not only an amazing server he was also an amazing bartender. We were too full for dessert but they did look amazing. This will be on the top of my brunch spots list for when I visit Sacramento.
DELICIOUS!! Food was very good and the Bloody Mary was soooo good.
When we arrived for our 11:45 AM reservation, we were told that the table wasn't ready but were offered a table on the street (versus normal outdoor patio). As we were eating ahead of an event, we knew we had to get sat quickly to keep to our schedule, so agreed. The hostess also informed us at that time that the kitchen was experiencing a 45 minute time to get food out, and we decided that our schedule still worked and we were seated. The service provided by the front of the house staff was excellent - friendly, communicative and attentive. We were quickly greeted by our server and placed our order, and even allowed to move to our original table on the official patio when it was available. Unfortunately, the food didn't arrive to our table for about 65 minutes, which is too long in my opinion. The food was excellent - the service was excellent - but sadly we had to eat very quickly, give our card to pay when the food arrived, and dash out immediately upon finishing. Not quite the enjoyable brunch we had planned before seeing a play. The atmosphere is fun, but loud, so wouldn't recommend if you're looking for an intimate or quiet setting. It is unfortunate the kitchen took so long. The restaurant was full, but not overflowing, so my assumption this is a staffing issue that I hope gets resolved. All in all - I will be back as I enjoy the food, service and ambiance.
We enjoyed our dinner at the Capitol Garage when our food finally arrived. An hour is quite a long time to wait for an appetizer. The waitress was very apologetic.
Enjoyable brunch. You could tell they were understaffed but they were all so nice it was okay. And once we put in our orders the food arrived quickly. The food was excellent. I would definitely go back!
Unfortunately, we never got our appetizers or dinner. Our cocktails were good, but an hour after ordering, we had to leave for the theater. We hope to try Capitol Garage another time.
We felt bad for the restaurant that there were not very many people there, since the food was excellent and the service great.
Great food and drinks! Good vegan selections on the brunch and regular menus.
Good menu variety. Nice place for breakfast. I would recommend reservations.
Great food, ambience, and service.
Worst experience I’ve ever had. Ever. Arrived and was seated immediately, the only positive. Never once were we told that once food was ordered it would be OVER an hour before arriving. We were patient, but the table seated AFTER us was not. They began to yell and bang on the table demanding attention. Mgr. spoke with them and offered a comped meal. We asked to speak with him and he told us that we should have known it would take this long as everywhere takes this long. This is NOT true. Not in the surrounding areas nor immediate vicinity. We were told 10-15 minutes at least 3 times. By the 3rd time it was getting medically necessary for one of our persons in our party to eat. They did give us some fruit from the back and still said our order wasn’t ready. At this time it was 90 minutes later. While we understand places are short staffed we were more than patient and more than friendly. We have been every place we’ve been and have never been treated so rudely. Remember, it was NOT us banging and yelling at the table.
Special thanks to Shelby. She helped us get our order, eat, pay and go on to see Hamilton. Give Shelby a raise!
Ambiance is nice outside but our food took an hour and a half to come to the table. The wait to actually get it was ridiculous. Server was extremely nice and the backup in the kitchen wasn’t his fault. We tipped him well but for Sunday brunch go somewhere else until they fix whatever is happening in their kitchen.
We did not have a good experience due to inattentive service, cold food and very very slow slow delivery of the said cold food.
Made a reservation for 6pm and was seated promptly. Drinks, an appetizer, and food were ordered right away. It took 20 mins to get drinks served and after an hour went by we checked the status of our order and the had not even started it. We canceled order and paid for drinks and left. Poor communication and extremely slow service.
Waiter was excellent. Food was fine but order took over an hour and we had to gulp it down to get to the theater which made for less than an ideal experience.
The food was good, but the service was really slow…and there were issues getting both a drink and food order correct. Great location … easy walk to the performing arts center.
We haven't been to Capitol Garage in quite a few years, some things have changed, they now have a nice outdoor seating area and the interior décor is toned down from its past.
What hasn't changed is the great food and ambiance, and the attentive service. WE had brunch and enjoyed the bottomless mimosas, the burger and the Monte Cristo sandwich. All great, if you want a place for a laid-back brunch, check out Capital Garage.
Great place to eat before a show at Safe performing arts theater. We made a reservation, but got there a bit early. They were super nice about getting people seated. We came in right before the happy hour rush, so we got our food within 15-20 min, but others took much longer. Server was great, appetizers were a great value and will come back again
Even having received the text and email confirmation that my reservation had been confirmed , when we got to the restaurant there was no reservation on file. Fortunately they did have a small table available and were able to seat us. The noise level was so high you could barely hear the conversation, but this is to be expected during the dinner rush and people finally able to get out. My order was incorrect , the Oder I received had crab in it and I wasn’t aware , this is not what I ordered , I’m allergic to shell fish and had consumed part of the sandwich prior to realizing it didn’t taste quite right. The waitress was accommodating and showed concern but commented that maybe I wasn’t allergic any longer since I didn’t show any signs of an allergic reaction… 😳
Great! Excellent Value!
They were not busy yet it took over 30 minutes to get our order of a regular burger and a veggie burger with side salads. We never got a water refill and I had to go hunt down the waiter to find out what happened to our order. This restaurant is located downtown where everyone has a limited amount of time for a meal during the lunch break. I can't understand why they were so slow. The waiter started ignoring me....
We waited 20 minutes before the server came to take our order. Then we waited 45 minutes before our meal was served. The server told us everything was made from "scratch" and it takes time. Never checked on how the food was or if we needed anything else.
It was great! This was my first time eating here and I was not disappointed. It’s not often that I can find a place with good vegan options, but this place had it. I was very pleased. The River City salad and risotto was very tasty. I even got the vegan cookie called Alfajores. It had a shortbread base, caramel filling and dark chocolate coating with coconut sprinkled on top. Amazing! I would definitely go back.
We arrived at 10:50 for 11 AM reservation. We were promptly seated. There were many empty tables.
We were not brought menus, water, etc. I flagged down a service person at 11:20. He asked if we were going to see Hamilton. I said 'yes'. He said the kitchen was backed up and they wouldn't be able to take our order before Noon. I asked if they could serve us by 12:15 or 12:30. He said it could be as late as 1 PM. There would be no way possible for us to eat and get to the theater for a 1:30 PM show. They didn't even say "Sorry". They should NOT take a reservation if they can't serve the party within an hour. That is ridiculous. Of course, it was too late for us to go any where else, so we went to the theater on empty stomachs. Capitol Garage owes us an apology at the very least.
We've eaten at Capitol Garage before and been happy. We were really disappointed this time when it took more than 40 minutes to get our food.
Very efficient, friendly, and delicious!
Delicious food. Large portions. Very satisfying. Yum!
Salmon Hash and Crab salad were both excellent - very fresh with good flavor.
Service was prompt and friendly unlike some other reviews. We arrived at 5:50 for dinner and left at 6:55 in plenty of time for the theater. Very affordable!
2 blocks from Safe cr union performing arts
Great service. Simple food. Good portions. Great spot if attending a concert in the area.
