Traditional meets modern in this new age Caribbean cuisine restaurant brought you by Chef Tavel Bristol-Joseph of E&R Hospitality Group.

Named after the Canje pheasant, national bird of Guyana, Canje pulls inspiration not just from mainland Guyana, but from Jamaica to Puerto Rico, and all the islands in between. Our menu explores the cooking techniques, ingredients, and many expressions of vibrant food across the region.

Tucked away on the east side of Austin, this lively environment brings a unique cocktail program boasting both spirit forward and fruit driven cocktails and a small selection of natural wines alongside our inventive food menu.

Always love Canje. Our favorite place in Austin to bring guests. Get the boar pepper pot, the patties x3, any whatever else strikes your fancy.

I’ve been trying to make a trip to Canje for awhile, finally made it happen! I highly recommend dining here, the food was excellent and wait staff very knowledgeable in paring! It’s definitely energetic with good music playing (tad loud) which makes for a louder environment with guess trying to talk, but it’s tolerable. I will be returning for certain, one of the best meals I’ve experienced in Austin, the West Indian Curry has left an indelible mark on me! I now understand all the rave!

We love Canje. The food is so unique than anything else in ATX. The staff is fantastic. It’s very reasonable in price. The only issue I always have is it is sooooooooooooo loud.

The food here was absolutely divine. However, you cannot hear your neighbor speak: at 7 o’clock in the evening, it is unbelievably loud and the acoustics are just awful. So just plan on yelling at your partner all dinner long over delicious delectably, interesting dishes, or maybe order takeout.
