Sat for 15mins for a server to show up. Had get up and ask for water, straw, and refill a couple of times new.
Waited over an hour for the food.
Got up and left before the food came out
We will give it another try in the future.
But thank you al for trying.
5th time at Candela. Food is consistently amazingly great. The service, through, is sometimes lacking with long times to be greeted by the server at the table, order to be taken, and too long waiting for the meal to be served and also too long a wait for the check. That said, I will continue to go back and will continue to recommend.
Value of brunch food was poor for the generic entrees received
seabass cruda was a great start. The chiliquilies was fantastic. perfect breakfast
The patio is always a great spot to grab a margarita!
First we reserved an outdoor table on Open Table and they said they did not take reservations for outside seating. Then we ordered drinks at the bar as we waited for our table (they were complimentary), but they forgot to put our order in and it took a long time. The level of forgetful and neglectful service continued throughout the dinner.
We really like this place. The food and service is always great!
This was our first time at Candela and I don’t think we’ll be back. The food was good but our service was very poor. Our waitress seemed uninterested and very slow. After sitting down it took a long time to just get an order for the apps and drinks. She didn’t offer any suggestions or ask if we had any questions. The drinks took over 20 mins to come out. Once we got our dinner she didn’t come to the table at all. She was attentive to other tables around us but just walked past ours. We had to wait over 20 additional minutes to ask for our check. It was clear we were done with our meals and were ready to go. She dropped the bill and we wanted another 15 mins to get it paid. The restaurant was not busy. Our section only had a few other tables. I’m not sure why the service was so painfully slow. Unfortunate first time experience bc the food was good.
One of my favorite places to go...great food and drink specials!
So so so good. Reasonable prices and a terrific happy hour!
The food was VERY good. I would definitely go back!
Some of the worst tacos I’ve had. Over cooked dry cubes of meat ( beef and pork), hardly anything in them and not very flavorful.
We had to ask 3 times to get our server.
Went out for a birthday celebration at Candela, and was not disappointed. There was a great view of downtown Denver, the place was quiet and was easy to carry a conversation, and the food was wonderful. I'm a vegan, and they had several dishes that fit the bill!
First visit was for brunch. Wow, a pleasant surprise. The blueberry pancake was amazing for two to share. The shrimp and pork tacos were fabulous. The steak tacos were a bit chewy and didn't have the "to die for" taste the others did.
Can't wait to go back for dinner.
I reserved a table for 6 at 6pm. By 5pm my boyfriend was hungry so we showed up a little early, the host was fine with seating us because the bar was pretty packed for happy hour. The margs and guac were great as the night went on it got busier, louder, and harder to find our server. It took a very long time for the rest of the party to get their drinks once ordered, I ordered another round for my boyfriend and I after we were served our meals and they never came. I had to find the server and ask for our checks and to cancel the last round of drinks. The food tasted great as did the drinks but if you show up on Fri or Sat don't expect the best service.
The food was ok.
The noise was overwhelming.
Went for Mother's Day brunch, hadn't been for a while and it was like coming home! Great atmosphere, energetic, fun crowd. Staff treats everyone with care and dignity. Food was excellent, as it always is. One of our favorite go to spots. Seems like it has gain in popularity as the restaurant was full, but it did not affect service delivery. Only small issue is parking, street parking no longer easy to access, but a minor distraction. Terence is a fabulous GM, spent quality time with us even though the business was bustling. Great place, superb food; fun location.
Big fan of Candela for brunch - food is tasty, and overall, you get great value for what you spend. The atmosphere is always lively as well.
The food was way over priced and honestly not that great. The margarita wasn’t very strong/watered down. However, the staff was nice and the patio was nice.
Awesome food and drink. Great quality!
It’s just as good for every day dining as well as special occasion. Our favorite restaurant in Denver
The food was amazing, but the service and ambiance were lacking a little for us. Consistent latin music would have aligned more with the brand. Service was a little slow, but the food was definitely worth the wait.
We were celebrating a dear friend’s b-day and staff were wonderful and made her feel extra special! Service and food was great!
Best piña colada I’ve had in a long time. Amazing French toast. All the tacos in the ceviche were amazing as well
Nice place. We were greeted warmly and it had a nice vibe. Pork carnitas taco was delicious, plantain taco good. Shrimp ceviche had a good spicy flavor but was overpowered by the sauce. $14 per margarita was pricey-delicious but way too much ice. Guacamole was outstanding! Overall, too much sauce overpowered some of the flavors.
The food was fine but nothing special. The service wasn't fair good either. It wasn't terrible but doesn't compare to lots of other restaurants in Denver.
I really love this place. Good food, service, pricing and the portions are not tiny tapas size!
Fantastic food and service! Lively atmosphere and great space
The food was a bit salty. Our waitress was
Wonderful place for a luncheon or small plate dinner and drinks. Great prices. Attentive service. Candela is our go-to place to introduce friends to delicious Latin American faire.
enjoyable/creative puerto rican/mexican fusion. great happy hour. great service. cool interior.
Second time at Candela's. Once again the food and service were excellent. I enjoyed the bottomless mimosas too.
We had an wonderful Easter brunch here. Even in the midst of a busy Sunday, the ambiance and service were excellent. The food is always amazing. We will visit again soon for happy hour.
A friend recommended this place and suggested the ceviche - hold the onions because they use too many. Ordered ceviche, asked for no onions and was told that was impossible because it’s premade. Seems reasonable. Also ordered empanada and a taco. After 40 minutes my friend asked how premade ceviche could take 40 minutes. The waitress was polite, apologized, and then immediately brought the most ridiculous pile of onions with literally 5 tiny pieces of fish mixed in. This dish is clearly not premade. It’s stacked up like an absurd jenga of red onions strips. Perhaps they’ve stopped accepting no-onion orders because you’d have to call it an amuse-bouche
Moving past that, the empanada and taco were good. The noise level is extremely high. I might go back, I might not.
Went to Candela with some friends for the first time. We had reservations and stood at the hostess desk for about 10 minutes, nobody was there or came over. I had to literally flag someone down.
Once we finally got to our table, it took them about 20 minutes to come over to take our order. All in all - the service wasn't good at all and I wouldn't go back.
I found the menu to be very limited and nothing special at all. The service was super slow and there seemed to be no urgency at all from the staff. This place is very overrated and I would not return.
This has to be one pf the best restaurants in Denver
Great service. Incredible food. The best Latin food in Denver ! Chef Jesse authentic Puerto Rican food to the city. Reminded us of childhood in NYC. A true OG
Love Latin food, and Candela is a lot of food for a great price. Definitely get the guac straight up and the shrimp ceviche (without the chips), especially if you're sharing with friends. The guac has a bit of garlic so if this is a date night... make sure to bring the mints. ;-)
The Mofongo is a dish unlike any other. The sauce is so incredible - I ate most of it before getting to the actual dish. Yum!
A lot of food - remember that as you're ordering. Alison was amazing - went over the menu and recommended options that were tasty and filing.
Atmosphere is a bit loud for quiet conversations, but that just creates the opportunity to get close. :-) And the view is beautiful at night.
Definitely a place to try. Be sure to make a reservation and give yourself enough time to search for parking.
