Very good breakfast. My French Toast was outstanding! Menu items are a bit pricey, but the quality and presentation of the food were impeccable. I would definitely dine there again. I did make a special request that was not met. It was our 29th wedding anniversary AND our youngest son was graduating from college. We wanted a special table. We were seated in a crowded area and no one said happy anniversary or congratulations. It would have been special to hear that.
As always, delicious food, attentive service, in a great bistro atmosphere. Been coming here since they opened, have never had a bad meal. One of our favorite restaurants not only in Midland, but anywhere!
Food and service were excellent. My wife’s steak was a bit too rare fkr medium rare but rhat was fixed in a jiffy. Wine list is interesting. Reservation was easy and we had a great table waiting for us the minute we walked in. A great night!
It was a good high class place and the bill will show that. It’s worth going on special occasions
Service was a little slow initially but overall it is our favorite restaurant in Midland.
Not as good as usual. French Onion soup and Key Lime pie were both very good, but the rest of the food was well below usual standards at Zinc. Focus seems to be on un unusual combinations and trendy ingredients rather than tasting good. Also, we were very disappointed when the restaurant starting cleaning up and preparing for breakfast while we were eating. It was before 8:00PM on a Friday night and we felt very rushed to leave and that the staff was only focused on closing up. About 7:40PM, several tables cleared so there was only us and one other table. At that point, the whole staff seemed to shift from serving customers to cleaning up and getting out of there. This made for a very unpleasant atmosphere.
Love this cozy place . Service is great . Food is very good. Pricer than others.
Overall it's a nice place to have a quiet dinner. I chose a New York Strip Steak which was loaded with chunks of fat and that was not what I expected. The salad was OK. The bread was good. The dessert was chocolate and it was a little dry, probably setting up in the display case under lights for a little too long. The other guests at our table did not have issues with their meals but they all ordered different items than I did so maybe it was a fluke but I won't be ordering the same items next time I visit. The waiter was average in terms of service and attentiveness.
We had a nice dinner on Saturday night with friends and family. Service was somewhat disjointed and slow on account of some misunderstandings with our wait staff. Because we weren't in a hurry, it wasn't a big deal. Three out of four of our dishes were outstanding, as was dessert.
The food is always good. I had the quiche Lorraine. It was so fluffy.
This is a great place for a little town, I am so glad this came to town. French Bistro at its finest. The French onion soup is bomb. Their fries are skinny and amazing. Best hamburger in town. The Pad Thai, yes I said Pad Thai at a French bistro is so, so good. Cant go wrong here.
Cafe Zn always has great choices, variety, tasty offerings
Our food was amazing and our waitress was super sweet. A little more expensive than we expected!
Excellent food and service as always.
Great food and service, but a little too noisy, but most restaurants are.
I was visiting my son in Midland Michigan and wanted a very nice place for my last night. The food and service were outstanding. I will dine here again when I return to see him.
Cafe Zinc captures the creative Bistro ambiance perfectly. When you step into the foyer you are greeted with the fresh smell of apples that are stacked on a wine rack and next by fresh baked goods. By the time you get your table you are ready to settle down for some excellent food. It is comfortable, friendly, accommodating (we ordered oysters on the half shell which weren't on the menu and they made them), excellent reasonably priced wine list, and a generous, creative selection of food on the menu. We will go back.
Perfect brunch before a 1pm show at Midland Center for the Arts!
Beautiful atmosphere, delicious food (and selection), wonderful service.
Will plan again!
The food was exquisite! From the soup and salad, to the delicious main course, to the dessert.. we were blown away! It's a must try if you're ever in Midland!
Terri our server was superb!
The food ans the table selection for us was excellent
One of my favorite restaurants. Perfect for any meal, any day, any time. Never disappoints!
Excellent food and service as always. My wife and I have never had a poor experience here. We usually dine here 4-6 times per year.
Not sure where to start . Positives staff was friendly. Restaurant was clean . It was extremely over priced . I would ratger pay more for good rite the firt time . Then less for mediocre food . I ordered a chicken parmigiana with fettuccine noodles . The piece of cheese was well not sure never melted big lump on plate . The fettuccine noodles were more aldente then done . The sauce was someone’s idea of a tomato pesto with to much spice . It titally didnt work . Was supposed to be a basil based pesto saice overcrhe chicken parmigian . You should try to serve people $10 playe food for $30 plus not cool . So caution to you who oder there make sure you ask questions . And send it back if its not rite . As much as there charging . There shouldnt be the problems i had .
Our group of six arrived right on time for our reservation. The greeter was not in sight so we hung up our coats by ourselves and waited. She arrived and greeted us by asking if we were the "6:30 reservation". We confirmed it and she led us to our table and we were handed menus at our table. We were not asked if we had been there before, had questions, or given a welcoming friendly smile. The wine that my husband requested was unavailable so our waitress offered him time to reconsider his choices and then she forgot to get the drink orders for the rest of the table. We had to flag her down to place the rest of the drink orders. When ordering, the waitress did not explain the special entree'. We had to ask for that information. The table for 6 is small. We felt quite cramped in space and leg room. Also, it is not set with a tablecloth. The food was great but the lack of a friendly welcome and smiles during our arrival and dining were missing. That just doesn't measure up to our dining expectations of a fine dinner that cost over $400. Both the quality of the food preparation and the service are important to us as diners. Not to mention having a nice tablecloth on the table. We left Cafe Zinc feeling disappointed.
This was our 5'th visit to Café Zinc, and was the worst experience by far. Our two cocktails, which are both on their specialty cocktail menu took 16 minutes to arrive, which also means that it was 16 minutes before we got to order an appetizer. We have had this waitress one other time and both times she has been very slow. I asked why the delay on the cocktails and was told that it was busy in the bar section and that their were new bartenders. Not an excuse they only have around 8 specialty cocktails, should be the first things they learn. I ordered the Tournedos Rossini, and for an appetizer we had the escargot and gnocchi. The gnocchi was mush, no bite at all the consistency of mashed potatoes. The foie gras on top of the filet in the Tournedos was ice cold, like literally just taken out of fridge and sliced and put on. It should be seared both sides in extremely hot pan, and should be crisp on the outside and molten on the inside. Honestly a couple amateur mistakes. This was the worst food we have had here and I assume as so many restaurants on the "5 yr" plan it means that the cuisine will continue to go down hill along with the service. The mens bathroom was also trashed, water everywhere, I came out and the cleaning person who was there when I went in was still standing there talking to the young male maître d, with another young girl who ended up being a customer. Poor performance and not impressed.
Excellent food and service.
Have never been disappointed. From the artisan bread to a variety of fine entrees to exceptional desserts
We had a nice lunch when our son and his wife were here visiting.
This is a restaurant with limited seating. It is not designed for groups larger than 5-6. We had 7 and were bumping knees throughout the meal. Regardless, excellent food, service, and ambiance. Highly recommended.
The escargot and the filet mignon were excellent. The Chicken Parmesan was different, but not all that tasty. I think that is an experiment that is just different for the sake of being different.
Always like it here. Kids love it - best grilled cheese in the world.
The place was empty for a Sunday night. The menu way too limited, and it seems to be pretentious for no good reason. If you are a vegan you should love it, if you are, a carnivore best to avoid. Being the only couple in this place on that night of course we were catered to. Food was good though.
Always and consistently excellent food and impeccable service. Favorite place. Great brunch.
A real gem at the H Hotel in downtown Midland. They serve good food, well prepared and complemented by excellent service in a French bistro setting with modern decor. Great for brunch. Our server Jessie did an excellent job. Highly recommend.
Love this place! Great food and great service! We are never disappointed!
Prepared just as we ordered
Large kids menu with loads of options
Bent over backwards for our picky 7 year old
Wine was good
Small dinner area, so have reservations
Wine list is a little pricey
I’ve been to Cafe Zinc before a few times and had good experience. However, my last visit was very disappointed. I ordered Salmon that came with some sesame snappeas. The peas were not cleaned and prepped properly, stems were still on. I also found a couple fish bones in my salmon fillet. Told my waitress and she said she would tell the kitchen but that’s all she did to solve the situation. I chose Cafe Zinc for my birthday celebration but left rather disappointed.
The atmosphere is quaint. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and very professional. She recommended the asparagus and burrata which was wonderful. My son had filet which was melt in your mouth. I had vegetarian pad Thai with tofu which was exceptional. Will be back when in Midland.
