Café Napoli is a family owned restaurant, established in 1989 by Tony and Kathy Pietoso. Quickly becoming a success, they moved the small basement restaurant to a larger location at the corner of Forsyth and Bemiston in the heart of Clayton. In 2003, sons Ande and Kye expanded their family restaurant by adding Bar Napoli, a swank cocktail lounge. A few years later, Napoli Reserve was added onto Bar Napoli allowing for private event space and an additional bar and lounge for the weekends. After years of a flourishing business, Kathy and Tony decided to take their ventures West to Town and Country where they opened their second location, Napoli2, managed by Ande. Kye has taken the reigns from his father and is now the front man for the 8,000 square foot establishment in Clayton. Café Napoli and Bar Napoli have recently undergone a face lift inside and out. Inside the kitchen, Executive Chef from Napoli2 Jon Berger was recently added to the team, bringing fresh ideas and innovation to the regional Italian specialties.

My girlfriend and I made a late one year anniversary reservation at Napoli, and we were astounded by the service given to us by I believe his name was Adi. His overall care and knowledge of the menu was excellent. He talked me into getting the delicious surf and turf that evening and also gave us a delicious anniversary crème brûlée to finish the night. I will be asking for Adi every time I go.

The service was excellent, attentive and meticulous staff ..right from the valet, hostess, bartender, waiter and bus staff. Great food recommendations and menu selections. Indoor seating was packed due to the extreme hot weather but space was intimate with a great ambience. Timing of food was great, drinks were refilled ...one of the best dining experience. Il definitely return.

The atmosphere both inside and outside was perfect. Our waiter was excellent. Very attentive but not overbearing. The manager checked in on us as well. I will definitely be back when I’m in town.

We’ve been here many times over the last 7 years. We were disappointed however after our visit last night. We were seated in a semiprivate room near the front of the of the house. The room was quiet and comfortable. Servers were nice and prompt. The big problem is that the food was cold. The arancini was flavorful, but the outside was not crispy and the centers were cold. The truffle buratta ravioli was again very flavorful, but the cheese center was cool and when cutting into the house made pasta, the filling didn’t ooze out as it should. The veal chop was ordered medium rare, but came out medium well done. Again, very flavorful, but temp was off. The farfalle Genovese was a excellent and piping hot, the best of the dishes. Definitely an off night for the kitchen and maybe showing some poor quality control and short cutting.

Kevin was an amazing server! The food exceeded our expectations! I am New York Italian and never expected to find such excellent Italian in STL. We had the veal chop with sage butter, topped with cheese and prociutto, the scallops, Chilean sea bass and the burrata and truffle raviolis for entrees. Calamari, crab dip and beef carpaccio for appetizers. All the dishes were exquisite and the cocktails and Malbec delicious. We will be back every time we visit our kid at college! Thanks for an amazing experience.

The oysters came with the dry ice effect. The halibut was flaky and delicious. I made the mistake of getting spicy pasta. While it was great; it was the dish to eat outside on a humid night. No one had an issue with the food. The server was nice, but overloaded. Overall, I highly recommend Cafe Napoli.

I ordered their house speciality the bone in veal chop after hearing the description from my waiter. It sounded spectacular. I have to say I was pretty disappointed. It was extremely salty… so much so the I couldn’t taste the mushrooms. Some went wrong in the kitchen… no one would enjoy this. I mentioned this to the assistant manager who asked me how my meal was. He provided a glass of Lemoncelo on the house… a nice gesture but really didn’t make up for what should have been a great meal. I can’t recommend Napoli based on the experience.
