    This was like an airport restaurant- wide open in the lobby like area. No ambiance at all. Service was really slow, server was so nice but had to apologize many times for things taking too long. Margarita was the worst I have ever ordered. Beautiful night to sit in the patio- not at all what I expected and would never go back.

    Went for lunch during AirShow, made reservations months ahead, was given a table with partial view 🙄 waiter took drink order and brought to table timely, 20 minutes later had to get a manager to take food order. Carnitas taco were excellent. Drinks 🍹good, started to rain took staff 25 minutes to bring an umbrella to cover table so we could eat. Had to run and buy hoodies too. Ambiance was cool 😎 can’t say this is the norm since it’s only my second time eating here. Had amazing service last year but restaurant was different ownership. Nice hotel.

    Sadly our 2nd time was just as poor as the first. Local here, love to see our restaurants be successful but Sammy you seriously need to come in and eat your food. Whomever pitched you this menu, fire them and get a coastal food expert hired! You can do way better than this. Chips were stale, even sent the first ones back, but next batch same👎 How can you mess us chips for God sakes! Nachos are a staked cold mess. Sammy get the heck in here and clean this mess up!

    This review is written with the caveat that our visit was during the Pacific Airshow. Staff was friendly and engaging. Got water quickly and chips and salsa within 10 minutes (slow). But the service thereafter was even slower. We did not see our server for 15 minutes. When she got there, she was great. But drinks took 10 minutes. We ordered food right away given the delays to that point. Good call on our part as subsequent service and check-ins were intermittent and lengthy in between. When it got there, food was good. Presentation for the Taquitos was cool, and it all came out fairly quickly. We took it in stride, enjoyed the staff. And then we went inside…and realized the workload was Inside (we were Outside). They were swamped… To sum it up…it seems the staff was doing REALLY well facing a once in year-ish workload and challenges.

    We have been a few times now hoping the place would improve but it hasn’t. We spent $80 on a quesadilla and an inedible tuna dinner. They comped a dessert because of the tuna, but really should have taken the dinner off of our check. On top of that, the table next to us had 4 drunk extremely loud people. We won’t be coming back.

    Some things are just irksome . First the distance between “bar seating “ where we could eat dinner and watch baseball and football and “dining room seating “ was 5 feet with a partition between them. We were told we couldn’t order off the full menu in “bar seating “ but 5 feet to the right we could . When asked for recommendations about the Mexican mule our waiter said he didn’t like the smokiness to it. Hmm , I’ll just swap out the smoky tequila for one of my Choosing. Why didn’t he think of that ? And please follow the menu as listed. We ordered the makeshift charcuterie board because it listed fig jam. Big fan of fig jam. What came out was stone ground mustard. Uhh what? Ohh server says we’re out of fig jam. Hmm, he goes back and looks and here’s Cherry jam and honey. Ok. Better . But then later after we’d finished most of the board out comes the fig jam. No one ever said being a waiter was easy but he didn’t have to make it so hard either

    Me and my wife went there for our 21st wedding anniversary, first and foremost the waitress was amazing. First we ordered drinks. I ordered a bloody Mary type of drink. It was so spicy I could not drink it. My wife ordered a chicken Caesar salad that was very spicy and she is not a spicy eater and it had large chunks of chicken on top. They were not cut up or diced, I ordered the Chili Mole and I’ve never had three pieces of fried chicken on top of rice, which wasn’t cooked and extremely salty. Not a great experience, and I probably wouldn’t be going back there again. Maybe Sammy should have some undercover tasters go into his restaurant.

    Took hubby for his birthday. It was good. The staff are wonderful. The food was good. Had chili lime shrimp, which was very good, and the skirt steak with chimichurri. Hubby had the cowboy ribeye, which did not live up to the name. Also tried the special Old Fashion, which was different, but still quite tasty. Hubby was provided with homemade churro, whipped cream, strawberries and chocolate sauce as his birthday treat from the restaurant. It was a large portion and delicious. It was a very nice treat without the awkwardness of staff singing. The patio was a little lacking in ambience. There needed to be some kind of music. It's Sammy Hagar's Cabo Wabo, so you expect music. Tupua Polynesian dance troupe did performed, but it was very short - about 15 minutes. Since we were there over 2 hours, it would have been nice to have some sort of other entertainment or a second performance. We went at sunset, which is always gorgeous in Huntington Beach, however, from this section of the hotel, you can't actually see the sun set because the original hotel tower blocks the view. That said, you still have a view of the ocean in the distance. That's the pros and cons, but overall, it was a nice evening.

    I guess i was expecting something a little different, this being Sammy's bar. First there wasn't any music outside i guess something was wrong with their speakers. Second you walked in and i felt like i was in the lobby. I thought for sure there would be a merchandise store where the restaurant was and instead you had to go to the lobby to purchase merchandise. It's a beautiful place and a great location, but it was missing something. the food was good and the service was excellant.

    Happy I tied this place, but won't be going back. The restaurant is in the middle of the very busy Hilton hotel. It is their main restaurant and is open almost all day. There are a handful of tables at the window, which give one side an excellent view of the pool/ocean. But right behind those tables, is the major thoroughfare for the hotel. The food is just ok - especially for the prices....$28 for a burger and fries and $25 for 3 shrimp tacos (that you can't mix and match with other taco types). Chips/salsa leave a bit to be desired as each "chip" is essentially a small corn tortilla that's been deep fried. Breaking them apart creates a big mess. Drinks also start around $21 and are tiny. Service is very slow and inattentive. Like I said at the beginning, glad we tried it, but as locals, we have many, many better choices.

    This was our first visit. The service was excellent. It was not the Cabo Wabo ambience that we expected. A few photos of Sammy and some records…not so impressive. It was a hotel restaurant, albeit clean but very busy and loud with families. The bar and outdoor area are nice. The fajitas fell short. Our friends had the tacos which looked good, they said were “ok”. Beans and rice were bland. Nothing savory or worthy of high marks. I hope the other items are better tasting. Nice try, Sammy. But no bueno. Sorry! We won’t be coming back.

    Very disappointed. Only a buffet was available to eat. The food was fine. I expected more from the Sammy Hagar side with memorabilia. Granted it was a buffet but the waiter service was average at best.

    I had the best time at Cabo Wabo Beach Club! I went to celebrate my birthday and I was treated like a rock star! The view of the beach was incredible. The staff was absolutely amazing! The food and cocktails were delicious. I highly recommend celebrating all of your special events there.

    Very disappointed all they did was change out the boardwalk restaurant to Cabo Wabo! The food is over rated and so is the ambience! The pinto beans not flavor , the rice was undercooked and the chicken mole was over cooked!  The salsa and guacamole was pretty good but for the money the serving was as to small and the tortilla chips were ridiculously large! So they give you a very small bowl of guacamole and huge chips??? It also seems when you order room service all you can choice from is the Cabo Wabo menu by the time you leave your sick of Cabo Wabo and not wanting to come back! It seems their constantly shoving Cabo Wabo down your throat during your stay here! Way to much Cabo Wabo at this hotel ( The Waterfront Hilton in Huntington Beach) There was nothing wrong with the boardwalk restaurant why can’t there be both variety please! Otherwise you want to take your money else where!

    We arrived 15 minutes early for our 7:15 reservation and had to wait 20 minutes to be seated even though there were several open tables. At 7:20 I had to ask the seating hostess how much longer we needed to wait she finally seated us. The server was excellent. Always happy and helpful.

    This was a fun experience. Tried three different entrees at dinner plus an appetizer. All tasty. Service could have been faster since the dining room wasn’t even half full at 7pm on a Friday. Worth a try if you’re in Surf City.

    My husband went for my Birthday lunch. I support Sammy Hagar whenever I can. We sat outside. The restaurant was not busy. It took so long for our drinks t arrive. I ordered a Cabo Rita ($17.00) my husband ordered a beer. Neither drinks were cold. We wanted to enjoy our day at Huntington Beach. The hotel (The Waterfront ) was beautiful. We order lunch it also took forever. Wasn’t hot when we got it. The server wasn’t very good either. She brought bill then disappeared. We had to pay at the bar. I’m disappointed in the restaurant. Maybe they’re working the bugs out from opening.

    We had an amazing dinner experience, and so we went back for breakfast. Food definitely makes you say, "wow!" Price is justified for quality and quantity, aside from their amazing staff. Staff were thoughtful in all aspects like timing on checking in on you, what you may need for your orders (ie shared plates, utensils, etc), and sweet energy. Highly recommend restaurant, and we will definitely come back again or try other Cantina locations

    Our dinner experience was ok. Our server was nice but slow. Ceviche was good, cheese board was ok. Branzino fish was fried, which wasn’t indicated on menu. Skirt steak was good. We thought it was an actual restaurant, but it’s more like a cafe atmosphere. We had drinks which were very pricy. For as much as we spent for two couples, we could have gone to a nicer place.

    Had to check out Sammy Hagar’s new Cabo Wabo Grill/Bar in HB…. Located along Pacific Coast Hwy on the So Cal coast in the legendary town of Huntington Beach coined “Surf City”…. Cabo Wabo sits inside the Hilton Waterfront Hotel….With Red Rocker pics and memorabilia throughout… Although it was a bit of a “June gloom” overcast day, we still sit sat out on the patio with a great view of the ocean and nearby Catalina Island…don’t tell the fellas, but I had them turn on the patio heater by our table…don’t wanna seem like a wuss….but it was chilly with the breeze coming off the sea… Our server, Alexis, was EXCELLENT….she kept my beers coming (I had a designated driver, so don’t judge, ok…LOL) she was friendly, attentive and made great menu suggestions to us….Kudos to Alexis! Complimentary chips and salsa at the start…super tasting salsa, and gigantor (is that a word?) tortilla chips… I had the CW (Cabo Wabo) Wet Burrito…it was friggin’ good, and innovative using beef short rib, tater tots, lettuce, cheese & guacamole…unique and very tasty! Whether you’re a fan of the legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’r, Van Halen, or even Van Hagar…this joint will truly put you in the party mood….C’mon, Beachside in Southern California, Cabo Wabo-style cocktails and delicious food ….need I say more….Count me in…. And the best part (I saved for last) Sammy is donating his profits (I think he co-owns the joint with some others) to CHOC Children’s Hospital in Orange County…and if that ain’t the most awesome thing ever, I don’t know what is….Sammy may be called the Red Rocker, but he truly has a heart of Gold…. When leaving, I noticed a black Ferrari that had been pulled over along PCH, after getting ticketed for speeding, the driver yelled out, “I Can’t Drive 55”…..Wait! What! Could it be? Naw….just a beer-induced flashback to ‘84… ;) Highly Recommend!
