C. Frogs BBQ Steak Whiskey
Dwight is the best server and took such great care of us! We had a large group and no one went without a thing due to his attentive nature! Thanks for making our celebration memorable!
Amazing food, service and atmosphere. The best non-chain restaurant in Johnson County!
I’d love to see the “Big Daddy” sandwich on the menu year round instead of just on Father’s Day.
It was more of a bar atmosphere than I expected. The food was decent. I had a wonderful red pepper pasta. The french fries had a fantastic spice on them! The interior could use some updates.
We were at the Art Fair and looking forward to cooling off with a relaxing dinner. Unfortunately, the AC was not working and the service was slow so we didn't enjoy our dinner. The food was good so we will give C. Frogs another chance.
This was our second visit to C. Frogs. We went for a celebratory dinner, and we had an underwhelming experience. They did not have 2 of the 4 items I ordered. They brought my food almost 10 minutes before they brought my child's or my husband's. They didn't say anything about this and acted like it was perfectly normal. I had to actually ask for their food and then it was suddenly ready!
Great service and food
The food was just ok. Wife's shrimp was over cooked and my ribeye was over cooked. Everything else was good.
It’s a nice restaurant. Service was very good. I had burnt ends, which were tender, but barely warm. There was a party of some sort so the noise level was quite high. I doubt that it is a daily occurrence but it did affect my experience.
I’m certain that this experience would’ve been really great if they have enough inventory. We tried ordering drinks and went through about 6-7 whiskeys that they were out of everything. Food was great and good prices! I’d give it another shot.
We enjoyed our dinner. It’s a beautiful restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere. Our food and service was top notch. And the whiskey cocktails we had were five stars!
Service was good. Food was so so.
Nice location with good food and service, hospitality was 2nd to none, a definite worth your time stop.
We love C. Frogs! But please note: it's sooooo much MORE than than just BBQ, Steak and Whiskey! We LOVE their amazing fried chicken prepared like no one else, delicious!!!!! Their to die for brussel sprouts and the mashed potatoes equally good -- all from scratch are fantastic. Oh and don't miss the Caesar salad made to perfection. Kudos to the chef, seriously!! We've returned probably 7 or 8 times over the past four months and Dwight has been our server several times and provided excellent cheerful service with a smile every time! The environment is welcoming and warm, great for a romantic meal with your date or comfortable and fun for families and friends. This has become one of our all time favorite restaurants in all of Kansas City, truly a neighborhood gem in the heart of Prairie Village!!
Delicious food but the menu was not the same in restaurant versus what was on app especially the drink menu. Need to ensure menus are the same so there isn’t the false pretenses when going to order to learn they don’t have the item.
Service was slow for the restaurant being less than half empty. It seemed like they were short-staffed for a Saturday night. It took a good 10 minutes for someone to ask for our drink orders.
Food was just adequate, after having been here before. The brisket was chewy. In Kansas City, this should never happen. Other food items came out much better.
The staff was friendly and the drinks were delicious, which is what allowed me to rate the visit as a 4 instead of 3-stars. Love the diverse menu and the ambiance. Plan to come back and hope for better food quality, next time.
Our dinner was for a table of seven with two small children. We were seated quickly and had lots of helpful interaction with the staff. The majority of the table ordered the signature steak and found it to be tender, well cooked and very reasonable at $20 per meal. Well worth the value and the food was amazing. Would definitely go back!
I was so excited to come here and I definitely don not mind dropping $100 on a meal if it is quality all the way around, but this place fell very short of that. Located in Prairie Village I expect more for the type of crowd and amazing restaurants that are around here. The cocktails were good, and the Mac and cheese for my son was good, but if you are going to promote your place as a BBQ restaurant, you need to up your portion sizes for what you charge and have better sauce. I’ve lived in KC my whole life and know great BBQ and this just wasn’t it. Maybe focus more on the sandwiches and steak and that could leave us hardcore BBQ people more satisfied and not expect the best.
The cocktails are overpriced for quality, especially the Manhattan. Very ordinary for such a high price. There was a sewer smell in entryway that permeated the whole restaurant at times.
Really enjoyed our dinner, the food was great, the service was awesome and the value for both was super. We will be going back.
The Ribeye was perfect, flourless Chocolate Cake - words cannot describe. It’s intimate and family oriented too. Atmosphere is lovely.
Will be back!!!
Great ambiance, service and food! Owner came and spoke to us. I prefer to eat at non chain restaurants and this was excellent!
We enjoyed the valentines special they had, along with Standees Theater, and the value we found was unmatched. The waitress really paid attention to my wife's allergies (soy and dairy) and there were plenty of options, really good options, available to her which made it all the better. We will definitely be returning.
Although it was quite busy due to Valentines, the wait for drinks at the bar, waitress at table was horrible. Food was ok but we were there over an hour before we were able to order food.
Service was slow
Waited 15 minutes past reservation time for our table. While waiting at the bar, 2 other couples were served before our drink order was taken. Once at our table, we waited 10 min for menus. Another 30 min for appetizer. Overall service was deplorable. Our waitress was great but couldn’t do anything about a poorly run kitchen. My “well done” steak came bloody rare. My partner was done with his dinner before my charred, but still medium well, steak came back. Dessert was wrong as well. Ordered German Chocolate Cake and got Carrot Cake. Overall, the worst dining experience I have EVER had! On the bright side, the manager finally came and apologized and comped the dinner and drinks. Worst Valentines Day ever!!
Steak was way undercooked even for medium rare. Mash potatoes were cold. Service was average. Appetizers were very good - Bacon wrapped shrimp -
Things went well until my credit card was misplaced when I went to pay my bill. So (as of Saturday, 2/16) far I have not found nor has the restaurant located my credit card. Valentine dinner was free. Also, original bill presented to me was in error. A second bill was provided that as correct. At this time, I almost for sure I presented my credit card along with the bill to the server. Shortly thereafter, the server return to the table and ask me if I gave him my credit card with the bill, I responded , yes. I did check my wallet, my pockets, and the floor around our table, no credit card.
It will be a while before I return to C Frogs.
We will be back. The food was great and C. Frogs has an upscale yet relaxed atmosphere.
Went for Valentine's Day. Great food--had the BBQ shrimp with brussel sprouts and creamed corn. Hubby had the brisket and burnt ends. Nice portions on both dishes. Our waiter was great and attentive even though he was very busy.
They make an excellent steak here! and the whiskey sauce is definitely a must. Large whiskey selection. Truffle fries are crispy and delicious. I have been here 4 to 5 times and it's a great location, good food and you can't beat having a movie theater next door for a dinner and a movie date with your loved ones.
Visited the restaurant while traveling on business. Impressive restaurant and great staff. Highly recommend!
We enjoyed generous servings of well smoked and tender barbecue pulled pork, chicken and brisket accompanied by tasty sauces. C. Frogs served sides which were given as much attention by the kitchen as the main dishes. We enjoyed nicely prepared baked beans, and well seasoned french fries and sweet potato waffle fries—simple, but served hot and fresh even though we dined late on a Sunday evening. Other menu offerings provide a wide variety including an adequate drink list encouraging another visit.
Our expectations were high when we went into this establishment. The server also indicated that the food was very good. We ordered as she recommended. The food was good, however not as great as I expected. The appetizer was a crab dip, which was similar to what I make at home, nothing fancy. My main course was a Shrimp dish with grits, something that is reminiscent of southern cuisine. It was ok, but very little flavor. I would recommend this restaurant to a friend though, because I think we just happened to experience an off night for the chef. I look forward to trying it again someday
From out of town- kids were tired so hopped on open table to see where we could get a reservation. Menu looked favorable. Arrived were seated right away- kids meals came out quickly and the food was wonderful!
We love this place generally speaking. But no joke - one of the best service experiences I have ever had on my last trip. Ask for Dwight. You won't be disappointed.
First time as a diner and I loved every moment. The server introduced my companion and I to the flash fried Brussel sprouts. Delicious!
We went on a Friday night and were shocked that they weren’t busier. Food was AMAZING. Will be back even though they are pretty far from us location wise. They don’t have a ton of steak options so my husband was a little disappointed he couldn’t get a strip steak, but they had a lot of salad options and overall great choices. I had their signature dish of BBQ shrimp with crispy Brussel sprouts and a baked potato. LOVED IT! The Brussel sprouts are unbelievably good even without the aioli on top. Someone in our group had salmon, another prime rib, husband had the rib eye, and someone else had the half chicken. All enjoyed their food. Others also had their other potato variations and each were great. They have a good assortment of salads and sandwiches too so I’m guessing it would be a great lunch spot as well.
Prime rib was killer and less fatty! Chocolate dessert was lovely. Whiskey selection was very good. Definitely be back!
We went for Restaurant Week. The food was very tasty. My Old Fashioned made with Four Roses bourbon was made perfectly.
Worst food ever. It was a complete waste of money. There was absolutely no flavor to anything. I actually described it as “eating “ water. Very disappointing! The only bright spot was the waiter. He did a great job.
