The food was excellent....the server made recommendations that were spot on.
1st time here and I was very impressed the place was quiet. Server was very friendly and helpful..the sushi was delicious..very unique flavors and combinations..
Nice surroundings, pleasant ambience, and an understanding server. Simple appetizer (soup) didn't arrive after 20 minutes, and after asking was served lukewarm. Server comped a second round of drinks apologizing for how far behind the kitchen (apparently fully staffed) was. The first main, arriving 1 hour after it was ordered was small and warm. Nigiri and sashimi came 5 minutes later with irregular edges (sharp knife would help) accompanied by wasabi the texture of plastic.
Obviously trendy neighborhood with possibilities but missed an opportunity to inform the customers about the wait until our waiter noticed we knew there was an issue. There is better sushi with much better service available in Omaha
It was a first date, everyone was respectful and filled waters, the waitress Snover tables fast. It was enjoyable.
We enjoyed our meal and the private booth.
I like the Japanese vibe of dining and that you can have your own separate room. I thought the pad-thai was a little too spicy for me. The appetizer wings I ordered had a peppercorn dry rub and the seasoning did not smell good in my opinion. The crab rangoon was okay but unusual to see a pink filling (something different not a bad thing!). However I like the egg roll! I will tell friends to check it out for themselves though.
Miso soup and butterfish roll were my favorites!
it was great! server was really attentive and nice. food was anazing!
The place is cool. Food was way too spicy. Service was mediocre at best.
Always great drinks and a great selection of sushi options.
We are vegan and we had great options - best vegan sushi ever!!!
Our server Jordan was a very delightful server who was courteous and attentive
Great food and service. Will definitely go back.
Everything was delicious! We all enjoyed it very much! We’ll be back!
This was our first time at Butterfish. The food was good and the service was excellent! We will definitely be back.
Great sushi and wonderful service. We had a private nook table with was really nice as well.
Our experience at Butterfish was overall very good. The menu is inventive and the rolls were delicious. Service was very slow for a weekday lunch, but our server was friendly.
We sat outside, so there was a lot of street noisee, but still nice to be outside. Restaurant was very busy but our server was as attentive as possible.
Fun Rolls, great service. Try the crispy sea bass crab appetizer. Yum!
The food was very good but it was very loud and crowded
Excellent food and service. Terribly noisy because of two large tables of teens/college students. They had great time, and next time we will ask for a quieter evening.
Great drinks great food great music great customer service great ambience
My girls and I went there for the sushi and for the great reviews! ! It didn’t disappoint! We shared several appetizers, loved them all, also shared a fried rice dish! Highly recommend!
We got in right away because it was early. We were in time for happy hour. The egg rolls had a unique taste and were non-traditional which I do appreciate, but not sure they were my favorite. The egg drop soup had a full egg in it with an un-broke yoke, again a new twist which was very good. The broccoli beef was placed on a smear of avocado.
Came here for a dinner date. I opted for patio seating because it was nice, but for the brief moments I was inside, I would classify the noise level as moderate. There were enough tables and people to make it so that you might have to use a little bit more than an inside voice.
As for the sushi itself, definitely no complaints! Plenty of creative rolls. I didn’t try any nigiri, unfortunately. I didn’t see it on the menu at first, and, well, I was on a date.
The only downside to this place is access to parking. We both circled for a while to find a spot. So if you go on a busy night, plan to get there early and spend some time finding parking! Consider yourself warned 😂
Service was great and our server was very helpful. The food was very good.
They ran out of sushi rice!?! They also ran out of their Asian beers on tap?!?
First time at Butterfish. Nice experience.
Friendly service and great food. Waiter gave us some great recommendations on their specialty rolls. Thanks!!
Our server Ally, was very attentive, pleasant and so nice. She knew we were first timers and walked us through the menu makin fantastic recommendations. Can not wait to go back.
Excellent food, great customer service and wonderful ambience!
Our server was amazing. She kept checking in with us at all times.
We came for a bachelorette party, Gray was our waiter. He was super helpful, took our pic, and was so friendly. Even gave us recommendations for bars, etc to hit up next! We also loved having a little private tucked in booth and the food was phenomenal! We all highly recommend the blood orange mojitos!
This is definitely one of the better Sushi places in Omaha. WE had a party of 4 and were seated in one of their closed booths which was really nice. It added to the experience I would say. The only downfall I would say this place has is their limited wine menu. Really wish they had more and better options but overall, I highly recommend.
I was looking forward to Butterfish after hearing from friends that the food was excellent-some of the best sushi in Omaha. The food was good. We had sushi, pad Thai, and brussel sprouts. The pad Thai was excellent! The sushi was good, though I wouldn’t say it was anything mind blowing. The brussel sprouts seemed like an afterthought—undercooked and not well seasoned. I was greatly disappointed in the service. I stood at the host counter for 5 minutes before anyone showed up and got no apology. Our wait staff only came by to deliver food. If we needed something, we couldn’t find anyone in the dining room for assistance. I would like to try Butterfish again, but with so many great dining options in midtown Omaha, I am not sure it’s worth my time or money.
great food, great service, great vibe. will come back again.
All the reviews are glowing, but our experience was average. Hot, don’t think the AC was working. Pork eggs rolls and fried rice were fine, but kind of boring. Our one sushi roll was the namesake, Butterfish, and it was so salty we couldn’t eat it. Saw our waitress when we ordered and when we paid.
Delicious food and great service. The only reason I knocked off a star is that the little "booth rooms" for larger parties are uncomfortable to boot. No air flow - very hot and stuffy. And if you have even mild claustrophobia it's going to be an issue. I would go back if I could guarantee a regular table, but I would absolutely not sit at one of those booths again.
Gray our server was amazing. Kept checking in on us through the night.
