Burr & Co. at Kimpton Fitzroy London
It's just a few yards from Russel Square Tube.
Such helpful staff and a lovely atmosphere. Food wasn’t great but was nice enough
I really liked the venue and choice of food. We were a group of 6. Our waiter was friendly but overstretched. Unfortunately they needed more staff and people were having to flag down the waiting staff to place or chase up orders. My husbands coffee arrived after multiple attempts at chasing it, he had pretty much finished his food. My husbands food was good and the pastries and cakes the others had seemed to go down well. My food was tasty but cold. Given we were pressed for time and had waited a while I just ate it. I would go back again as it is a good location and ambience is nice but more staff would help make it a more pleasurable experience and joining up bar orders and kitchen orders would help.
A bit random. This is in essence a cafe-bistro and booking isn’t really a thing. The food was very nice with a good selection but the service was hopelessly disorganised.
We received half of our order after asking for it repeatedly and eventually fetching it ourselves. We were not the only ones. The table next to us waited 25min for their drinks and resorted to paying at the bar as the bill did not materialise
A supervisor would be a good investment to keep the operation going.
A family of 5 - we enjoyed a breakfast at Burr & co. Elegant venue, good food, reasonable price and friendly staff.
Wonderful service and servers. Food and drinks were affordable and delicious. Great environment - definitely will be back!
The setting is nice. And the staff were friendly. But the food was just really disappointing. It was lukewarm. And just didnt taste very nice. We had burgers and the fish finger sandwiches. We just expected so much more as from the website the place looks so lovely. It was just very average.
I made a reservation successfully on opentable but on the day I went there, it was closed! That was an unhappy experience.
Service was absolutely shocking. We only wanted 1 coffee and 1 tea and waited 40 minutes - our meeting was over before they’d arrived!
Service was really terrible.
We went for the brunch and the server brought the food but forgot the cutlery.
We had to ask for cutlery and it took a while for them to bring it.
Also, I had to ask for ketchup for three times and they also forgot our coffee.
When they brought the coffee after we finished the food.
We told the server that we did not want to pay for the service charge for aforementioned reasons but they told us it is mentatory.
I do not want to go back again.
Food was terrible. Food was terrible. Food was terrible. Food was terrible. Food was terrible. Food was terrible. Food was terrible. Food was terrible. Food was terrible. Food was terrible. Food was terrible. Food was terrible. Food was terrible. Food was terrible.
When I arrived, I was one of only 3 tables in the restaurant area yet I wasn't asked for my order until I chased the server. The single latte still took 15 minutes. There was a clear priority for the people in the front cafe whilst myself and the table next to me waited endlessly for our order. Really poor showing. Would not recommend or return for any outing.
The food was good but it took about 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive (tea and coffee) and we had to ask for them. My colleague and I ordered breakfast but only mine turned up. No one came near us to ask if we'd like anything else and we had to hunt someone down to ask for the bill. So overall, pretty rubbish service but they were friendly when they did interact with us and the food was good so I'll give it one more try.
Service was exceedingly slow even though few people there. Food very average.
I ordered the fish taco which was hugely disappointing...literally a greasy, tiny bit of fish in a giant tortilla wrap with some cherry tomatoes and pea purée. No hint of the sriracha mayo mentioned on the menu which in turn made it tasteless. This dish is not worth the price.
The staff were nice enough and I liked the space so next time I’ll just have a coffee. Felt like a real waste of money.
Tasty lunch with lovely atmosphere!
Great service and friendly staff willing to help. Food was delicious and very filling. Drinks had lovely selection quite reasonable for a bar and restaurant in London.
Highly recommend Burr & Co at Kimpton for drinks or even a meal out.
It wasn’t surprising we were the only people having lunch. The concept of starters and main courses confuses them. They just brought food out randomly and the drinks came later. It was all shambolic and as if they were doing this for the first time. Some of our party thought the food poor, others thought it OK. This is a beautiful, airy restaurant in a landmark hotel and it is a great shame the service and the food lets it down.
lovely cafe place not to loud and very close to russell square
Reserved tables are in the far back, we were alone and staff forgot about us. It’s a very cute place though.
Hi ValeriaV, Thank you for your feedback. I'm disappointed to read this and I can reassure you I am investigating methods to ensure we consistently keep service as strong as possible. Ask for me when you join us again and I'll ensure you're royally looked after! Kind regards, Daf
Excellent place for coffee and study, catch up with a friend over a glass of wine and some sharing plates, or for a delicious dinner (would recommend the gnocchi - absolutely divine!) staff are super and friendly and the decor / ambience is relaxing and luxurious
