We were seated right away and greeted by one of the waiters. However, our first dish was brought without our drinks. It took quite a while to get water, and wasn't offered refills during the meal. My husband was brought the wrong dish so the manager brought him the right one. We felt like it was hectic there because they had trouble with the Italian soda machine so that was late arriving. Dessert was good but pricey. Great facility for the students to learn and cook, my main dish was cold, the bread was good and the presentation of the food on the plates was great. Would we go back? No, for $35. a plate plus drinks and dessert, it was way over priced.
I made a reservation to support my son. I was extremely impressed and I would definitely go back again.
Such a unique experience! The students were so polite, friendly and so professional! The food is Outstanding!!! It's a great place and I look forward to coming back!! So excited I can stop by and buy goodies in the morning at the café!
Excellent every time. Each time I bring a group they love it.
Broadmoor Bistro was just amazing! We had one of the best meals ever .....and it was made by students under the direction of top-notch chefs. The service was attentive but not overbearing. The dining room itself is just beautiful and it's in a drop-dead gorgeous facility that just opened. I just couldn't believe that I was in Overland Park Kansas! But by far the highlight was the delicious perfectly-prepared and presented food. Hand-made pasta, perfectly cooked veggies....some of which are grown on the property by the students, sauce that made me sigh in delight....wow! And while having an amazing meal, you can do something tangible to help these students learn their profession. How great is that?!?!
So instead of doing the same old restaurants with the same old menu, try something new. you won't be disappointed!
Nick, our server was nervous and unprepared for our arrival and questions. Other servers came to his aid and were more relaxed.
Exceptional food. Pleasant wait staff.
Broadmoor bistro has always been a treat. But this night must have been an off night. Not great service as usual
Tremendous venue, allowing students to learn how to cook and run a restaurant. We need more places like this in town.
Love this place a great idea, for unique dining and education
Excellent service on Valentine's Day - added another adult and flexible when friends coming an hour away were held up slightly in traffic. Great food - just enough - excellent decaf coffee -Richard did an excellent job, the staff at front very helpful with advice on to go items. Thank you for such a lovely evening
A unique dining experience to learn about food and special ways of preparing it.
Our favorite about Broadmoor Bistro is that high school age people are learning about food for life and employment skills in an educational field usually presented at a later age.
We love touring the kitchen to see how your students learn in this atmosphere.
Hurray to your chefs and teachers.
Third Time and still stunned by the the presentation.
We went to the location several times on 83rd and really enjoyed ourselves. We were disappointed in the new location because it is not as intimate. It's more like a large cafe with nice food.
A great meal! The student server was so sweet! What an amazing place to experience and great training for high school students!
All 3 of us enjoyed our food and our orders were all different. Our friend who is gluten sensitive did have a difficult time ordering. We had 2 servers working our table and there was continuous confusion.
When they eventually brought what was supposed to be the first of two appetizers, my husband got both of his appetizers, my friend got one she had asked to change and I got nothing. The 2 servers who brought them to the table could not tell us what they were so we had to guess. By the time we figured it out, they were gone and didn’t realize I didn’t have an appetizer. Eventually I got my soup which was very good. I had to ask for my second appetizer. a simple salad, and by the time they brought it, our entrees were also on the way. I had only a few bites of salad before my entree arrived. One of our servers took our dessert order which didn’t arrive quickly. Before they arrived, our 2nd server came to the table asking if we were ready for our check.
The food was good; the service needs a lot of work. We were at the restaurant for more than 2 hours because the service was so slow. Most of the evening the restaurant was not crowded. Neither server took responsibility for our table or for the really poor service. I understand they are students and as someone who worked as a server through college, I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. But the Bistro managers and educators need to do a better job of training and supervising the servers. We won’t be going back soon.
It was wonderful and looking forward to returning.
I was amazed with the spectacular food. The menu was diverse and beautiful. I loved the duck, cooked perfectly, the presentation was stunning. Great value, you get so much food for the price. The students are all working so hard and it is noticeable. Kudos to the program.
Service extremely slow this particular night. Kitchen to blame, not serve, although server was not too on top of things, having forgotten several requests.
Excellent dining in a beautiful new restaurant space. The food was cooked to perfection (correct temperature, seasoned appropriately) with presentation to match. The student waiters were very friendly, attentive to needs. Overall, an excellent dining experience no matter the occasion.
Everything from beginning to end was enjoyable at the Broadmoor Bistro. We have already shared with friends and intend to go again. Quite a state of the art kitchen and a great learning experience for students.
It was an outstanding meal! 5 courses! Very flavorful and tasty. Excellently prepared and beautifully presented! High quality food. And it is bargain priced. I highly recommend this place!
We had GREAT food, good service and visited the bakery before we left with full stomachs and happy hearts.
LOVE this place ...only complaint is the new space has horrible acoustics and hard to hear friends right across the small table.
My first time to take 3 1/2 hours to finish a dinner, it said it was a guess chef but I think we are not that enjoy those I guess you may call it a “Fusion Food” ! But they just not match! Those plates are huge but all those 5 courses are as tiny as sample plate ! I am assume that we all should check the menu before we brought tickets, Although my husband not a huge lamb fan but I thought we need to have it no matter what. But then I saw a lady beside us can change her 2oz lamb entree dish to a 10 oz salmon dish ! Really ?
THe food did not live up to the excellent menu writing. The portions were only 1 or 2 small bites, but were presented on such huge plates it seemed like even less food. The main entre of lamb rib eye was very rare and barely warm. These are students learning, however this was a special dinner and we were surprised at what was presented by a visiting chef. We will give BB a second chance on a regular evening.
Food was delicious but we were there for three hours instead of two. Lack of leadership and kids didn’t seem to know what they were doing. Also used open table for reservations but did not receive my points for dining
This is a creative environment for culinary students. It is a wonderful experience in ambience and food. It is a specially rewarding knowing that you are giving back to the community by supporting the students and the culinary program and the Shawnee Mission school district.
Had lots of fun. We love the new Bistro
I was impressed by how the the restaurant staff taught the students so seamlessly while still maintaining such a professional environment.
What a great program for our youth. The food was fantastic and although our waiter was inexperienced, he was kind, thoughtful and so sweet. It was wonderful to hear how passionate he was about cooking and making it into the Culinary Institute of America. Love the new location!
We saw a piece about it on public tv, and it looked so nice, that we decided to try it out.
The culinary students have a wonderful place to learn and practice.
We were very impressed with the food, presentation, and friendliness of the students.
They did a great job, and we will certainly return. They were very busy, so we understood
the time it took to serve everyone. Enjoyed the evening.
So glad we saw the tv presentation.
Worth the money.
The atmosphere was great .Dining room was casual but close enough to find dining that it felt special. the students were very professional ,courteous and new the menu Loved the fact they went out of the way to make my dinner a special occasion, especially since it was my birthday. I especially liked the tour ,the whole experience with was totally five star and above . can't wait to get back.
This bistro definitely exceeded all our expectations. The setting is beautiful; the staff, professional and friendly; and the food exemplary. We cannot wait to return and, in fact, have already made reservations for our next visit.
Continued excellence in new, beautiful location. Very high grade food. Service was very good. New coffee service a good addition. Open in the mornings for pastry and coffee. Great food at excellent prices. Don't miss this gem.
Jack was a great server. Outstanding value. Seated right away. Chefs checked discreetly on us. I am astonished that my teens were allowed slight changes in the menu. It was kind and I did not expect it. The new design for our district culinary school bistro is as lovely as the old was, and we will be back. Thank you for the gift of Wednesday's to our community! (Also we love the coffee hours on week days !)
The Broadmoor Bistro is staffed by students from the Shawnee Mission School District who are pursuing a career in culinary arts. It is a very impressive facility serving high end food. I would encourage anyone to go and support these kids who are getting an excellent learning opportunity to following their dreams.
Food was delicious, as always. Presentation outstanding. Opening night, I expect a few hit and misses. Students assisted each other. The timer on the automatic blind did not take into account the location of the sun for diners facing west or those seated at the north end facing south. Upon our request, this was remedied. First glass of iced tea was lukewarm and without ice. Thereafter, they were on ice. Of course we will return!
Food was cooked and presented to perfection. Service was a tad slow, but the servers are learning as it was Opening Night. Overall, excellent experience. Highly recommend dining at the Bistro.
Wish I had known about the Broadmoor Bistro earlier. Delicious, ORGANIC, very well presented food! Needs to be open all year, more days of the week!
