Bristol Seafood + Steak + Social
Very disappointed in the food at the Downton Bristol. Had reservations an hour before closing so wasn’t surprised that some menu items were not available. We’re not served biscuits until we asked when our food arrived and they were cold, crumbly and tasteless. Caesar salad was drowning in dressing and crab cakes were cold. When advised our waiter comped the meal, which was appreciated. The waiter provided good service is the only thing good I can say about the meal. It was our first experience eating at this location as we always go to Leawood, and we’ll never go back.
This was our first visit to KC and our first visit to Bristol.
we were seated on time
The calamari starter was decent
our server was VERY rushed, we may have seen him for a total of 90 seconds, he was also very rude and impatient when we tried to ask questions. He forgot 2 items I ordered but I was too afraid to ask for them.
Other than the lobster bisque all of my food was lukewarm to cold. The potatoes had cold lumpy bits, the scallops were undercooked and cold, the asparagus wasn’t described as being a cold dish but I think it came straight from the cooler. Again, I was too afraid to discuss it with the server because of his attitude and I didn’t want to wait. My fiancé on the other hand had salmon that was very over cooked but at least it was warm.
There was staff walking around with a tray of rolls(?) biscuits(?) and each time we were skipped over. While I don’t feel entitled to such complimentary things it felt awkward that we were ignored.
It was so loud! I’m not some cranky senior who wants total silence but wow the other patrons had no volume control.
We will definitely be back to KC but sadly after all the decent reviews, will skip Bristol and try other places.
Amazing seafood as always! Our favorite spot in town.
Food was great. Server a little odd but didn’t mess up the experience.
Food was ok, albeit expensive for what it is. Staff was very nice. Biggest issue was that it took an hour to get our food after we ordered.
Great ambience. We had live music on a Saturday night, which made the dinner experience even more enjoyable.
We chose Bristol because of it's close proximity to a music hall show.
The service was impeccable. The food was ok. Nothing to write home about. In my opinion the menu lacks variety for a restaurant known for its seafood.
The Bristol never disappoints! Food, atmosphere and service are always top notch.
The table was set very nice for our anniversary and the hand written note card on the table wishing us a happy anniversary greatly appreciated food was excellent and service was top notch waiter was friendly and very informative
Enjoyed drink specials and $1 oysters during Happy Hour and stayed for dinner eating at the bar. Great food and wine. Service by busy bartender was excellent.
It had been a few months since my husband and I had dined at the Bristol. The service was excellent. The food tasted really good. We were disappointed, however, to discover the Bristol had downsized their menu considerably and all of our favorite dishes were no longer offered. The menu selections reminded me of meals that I would find at a Red Lobster for a fraction of the price.
Working lunch, server was respectful of our papers all over the table & allowed us to get our work done with minimal interruptions.
Bristol's is a very nice place with great seafood. They offer valet parking so you don't have to search for a parking spot.
Normally, we have a great experience at Bristol. Unfortunately, this was the WORST experience we have ever had at ANY of their locations. First, they didn't have our table ready when we arrived. Despite the birthday confetti and note regarding free dessert or champagne toast, the server did not acknowledge the birthday until our bill. Our burgers arrived with NO fries, NO lettuce, NO Tomatoes, etc...Completely bare burgers arrived and we had to ask about fries and all of the sides. We had to ask twice for refills on water as well. Yes, they were very busy, but this was completely unacceptable.
Celebrating our anniversary. Was incredibly surprised at how the Bristol had a special table set up and acknowledged that fact! Also, offered a free dessert!
Wonderful dinner, wonderful surprise. We eat at the Bristol, but mostly visit the Leawood location ... often. Always great food and good service....had no idea they would do that for our special occasion. Have visited other restaurants for our Anniversaries, birthdays, etc but will definitely spend our special days at theBristol because we have NEVER had any other restaurant acknowledge our occasion like that! ( 801 Chophouse, Marina Grog & Galley, etc).
Everything was amazing. Delicious oysters. Awesome drop biscuits. Entrée was the seafood mixed grill and it was incredible. My husband got the lobster mac and cheese and there was so much lobster in it. Outstanding! Was a special treat for our family, hope to be back again!
The food is always amazing! They served my 10 year old son apple juice in a fancy glass and he thought it was amazing! Our server was attentive and did a great job!
Restaurant is nice but the entrees were just ok.
Food was very good, service was fast and courteous but the noise was so bad it was hard to digest and enjoy the meal. I wish it would have been quieter. I chose the restaurant because I didn’t want a romantic place as a single but it was just too loud
Enjoyed a relaxed meal with friends. Waiter treated us like we were special. Food was great.
Taking New England Clam Chowder of the menu was a huge disappointment! Coho Salmon overcooked but the service by Anderson was spot on.
Excellent Food. Excellent Service. Excellent Value. Will definitely come again. Server Antoine was amazing.
I haven’t been to this location before, but have been to the Town Center location many times. It has been a couple years since we’ve eaten there. I remembered the biscuits as being mouth watering and hard to resist. This time they were dry and almost tasteless. The food was just ok...the asparagus was undercooked a bit. My son’s steak was very rare, although ordered medium rare. The creme brûlée was disappointing as well. Nothing was terrible, just not the quality we’d grown to expect.
The Bristol is the best! The staff, the service, the buzz, the food are amazing. Love it!
The service was really slow. It was that way the last time we dined there but I wanted to try again. I was super disappointed because my fish wasn’t cooked all of the way and was served with the skin on which is never fun to peel off. For the money and service, we will go someplace else.
Great all around.
All good, service and food on target
Food was excellent....service was a bit lacking the night we were there, but certainly not something that will keep us from going back.
Bristol is one of my favorite restaurants in KC. We had a hard time getting there, and traffic was horrible nad had a short time to eat due to a concert we were attending. Our server was amazing at pushing our orders through quickly and checking with us often to make sure we were on the right time line.
As always, the food is delicious there! I can't wait to go back again soon.
Atmosphere, Food and Service was excellent for a business luncheon. Would recommend this restaurant.
IMO, my family and friends have been here too many times because “the” wife picked this place because of the oyster, but I have to say that the Sunday’s brunch is getting too boring (same for the last 8-10 years, desert bar is not abundant), but the variety has been the same for the last 8-10 years, nothing has change besides the price! I will say the other Location at Leawood (Johnson county, KS) have more options. Go n checked it out for yourself.
Note: when you have to pay $32 per person, $16 (kiddos), + 12.5%tax, +20% tips for the server, +valet parking fee $5-$10, + valet person tip $5-10 and gas… I do not understand the omelet section needing a tipping jar; it feels out of place and turn people away!
I hope that the Management reads this and consider adding/rotate their offering.
We had a wonderful experience dining at Bristol for our anniversary. They had the table set up and lightly decorated to help us celebrate our special occasion. There was also a nice note wishing us a happy anniversary. The food was amazing and it was easy to accommodate a gluten free vegetarian meal for our friend. We will definitely be back to Bristol to eat again.
Worse meal I have ever eaten! $100 for seafood which was not fresh! A step below Red Lobster!
We got there early so filled up on the happy hour. Though the bartender was friendly I miss all the times we used to go there and it was more crowded and the bartenders spoke with us more.
Our server was awesome, food just ok, all of the entrees weren't even warm but the plates were hot.
Bristol’s food and atmosphere is consistently very good. The wait staff quality has dropped off a bit.
One of our appetizers was served cold but the 4 people in our party all agreed the Filet Mignon was the best we had ever had. Perfectly cooked at medium, very tender, & the flavor was fantastic.
The appetizer sushi is to die for. I would of ordered it 10 times if I didn’t order a delicious steak
I already left them a comment. These survey's are becoming annoying.
Sunday Brunch was just ok. Nothing special to go back for.
Tried a little sample of the hot item-ok—a bit of the prime rib— just ok, and the desert bar was dip your own strawberries, carrot cake (which was a 10), and a chocolate mini cake. Service was ok. Overall would not blow all my calories on their brunch much better elsewhere. My sister asked how it was and when I said ok not great she said that is what her friends had said too. Hope this helps. Grand Street cafe on Plaza and Avalon Cafe in Weston are spectacular.
