Brennan's of Houston
Need to book at 9:45 AM?Other great restaurants with availability.
Atmosphere was festive. Service was great. Food is always good. Brennan’s is always a good choice
Brennan's is one of my favorite restaurants in Houston but our last experience fell short of their normal excellence.
The soup trio (1-1-1) is usually a highlight but this time the turtle soup was tasteless and the gumbo was so loaded with rice there was no room for anything else.
I was really excited for the Creole Spiced Ribeye but was disappointed again. I asked for it to be cooked Medium Rare +. The inside of the steak was leaning more towards medium well and the outside was burned and charred. I appreciate a good sear, but this was too far. The most disappointing part was the cut of meat. For $61 I expect a ribeye to just melt due to the wonderful marbling. This piece of meat was extremely tough and sinewy. Not at all pleasant to eat.
The other bothersome issue was the very rude waiter who constantly interrupted our conversation to get his job done. We were in no hurry and wanted to socialize over our drinks before ordering. The constant interruptions were incredibly off-putting and really put a damper on the evening.
I have had wonderful dinners at Brennan's and do hope this was just an anomaly as I would hate to take Brennan's out of our rotation. The other diners' dishes ranged from OK to really good. The Bananas Foster was fantastic as usual. We will be back, but it will be a while before we return.
perfect birthday celebration location
Always a pleasure.
Wonderful dining and everything tasted delicious!
Food and service is first class. Sunday brunch was very enjoyable and wandering jazz group and ambience
Our servers were great the food was not that good and the people at the table next us were in constant chatter with several wait staff and the head chef so much so that I did not enjoy my dinner with my husband. Will not go again. The steak which was touted as aged ribeye cost too much and was tough. The knife given to cut it did not do the trick. When I sent them a similar review they did not even acknowledge my response. Poor taste
The food and service were outstanding. We were celebrating Valentine's Day at 2 PM. This was special. I also appreciated that the menu was the typical menu. We did not feel the prices were escalated for Valentine's Day.
Standing lunch date with my daughter on valentines for 20 years. Always great. Don’t know what we’ll do if they ever close.
Awesome restaurant... only concern that I had was that I did not hang up my coat before sitting down and I had it comfortably on my chair and the server kept running into my chair and coat throughout the meal as we were dining.... he was in a hurry to get around our table and serve other guests, I suppose.
We are HUGE fans of Commander's Palace and Brennan's in New Orleans and had high expectations going in. Those expectations were exceeded! The space is BEAUTIFUL. The food is PERFECTION. And service is IMPECCABLE!!!
Our meal began with a lagniappe of DELICIOUS shrimp remoulade and the most flavorful garlic bread. And of course a 25 cent Martini! It was suggested to us by Thomas, our SPECTACULAR server, that we order the Gulf Fish Borgne which is the signature dish and features Jumbo Lump Crab, J&J Shrimp, Louisiana Oysters, Parmesan Mushroom Rice, and Brennan's Creole Butter. We also got the Creole Cobb which had Wood-Grilled Texas Shrimp, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Brioche Croutons, Grape Tomatoes, Maytag Blue Cheese, and Cayenne Avocado Dressing. The dressing was the best we have ever had on a Cobb and the shrimp were moist and flavorful. And since it was crawfish season, Thomas suggested a side and it was divine!
But the highlight of the lunch was Thomas. As he seated us, he asked where we were from. When we told him "Los Angeles" he asked how we were all doing in LA with the loss of Kobe Bryant. As a third generation Los Angeleno, the heartfelt sincerity of his question brought tears to my eyes. We felt we were at home as we reminisced about what Kobe meant to his fans and Thomas shared his own stories.
And that is the gift of the Brennan restaurants. They feel like the best your home could be because of the care that goes into EVERYTHING!
Iconic restaurant. Service has become far less crisp and attentive.
As always great food and great service. The consistency of Brennan's is incredible. Their is never a doubt from the time you enter that it is going to be a great experience.
our waiter was not good. got drink orders wrong, took too long to receive drinks.
Excellent as usual.
As always, the food, service and atmosphere was outstanding. We love going to Brennan's to celebrate special occasions. My husband and I have been going to Brennan's for 25 years. It is the perfect restaurant to celebrate any special occasion. Sunday brunch was great. The musicians came by our table and sang a song for my husband's birthday. Thank you
the brunch entree could have been better. The ham on the benedict was too thick, and the Brennan benedict was not to my liking. In the past when I have had this meal, there were more selections.
Every thing about the food and service in the restaurant was FANTASTIC! We were downtown to attend the theater and it is very helpful that Brennan's offers a shuttle to and from the theater which worked out perfectly. The problem was getting vehicles after the 2 shuttles dropped all the guests off. There was not an organized system for taking the guests valet ticket and it was a lengthy wait in the cold for the cars! It would seem there could be a much more organized and efficient system developed to have guests on the shuttles vehicles staged for quicker delivery to those guests.
Why would you want to go anywhere else?
Very simple brunch for two; the grand seafood tower and some brandy milk punches. Simply wonderful,
Absolutely amazing experience every time!
Excellent classic creole cuisine, fresh seafood, attentive service. Select a table out of the way for the best experience.
The first time we went, the food was amazing and very flavorful. This time, the food was so bland I had to keep adding salt and hot sauce just to add flavor. It was pretty disappointing, especially for the very high price.
Amazing food and excellent service!
It’s Brennan’s. Never had any complaints. But this night my wife’s steak was poorly done. Overcooked a medium rare. The 2nd one was only medium rare in the middle. Maybe just an off night for them.
Hostess was outstanding.
Brennan’s just continues to do it right in all categories. Service, food, ambiance. Amazing! I just love this place!
Wonderful anniversary dinner!
Always great service and food!!
Top-notch service and food as becomes this Houston institution. While not cheap, it is a classic dining experience. A special place for special occasions or just for the incredible food and service.
Excellent in every way
Our evening was delightful. The food is wonderful and service excellent.
Outstanding food and service in a gorgeous environment. Brennan’s never disappoints.
Wonderful experience once again. Excellent venue for a closing dinner.
Our last experience here was a complete and utter disaster. However, this time around, it was much better. The service, food, and overall experience was great.
The service is always exceptional. Our waiter was consistently checking on us and made great recommendations. For example, we were disappointed of the cold beignets served for dessert, but convinced us for the Mississippi Mud Pie as an alternative . Also, we wanted to note that the busgirl Candy was very nice and consistently cleared our table for space.
The food was very well cooked, tasty, and seasoned well for our taste. The berry cocktails were great as well. We enjoyed both our rib plate and duck. The strawberry salad tasted fresh and the gumbo was tasty too. Once again, the beignets were cold and undercooked but the waiters mud pie recommendation saved the dessert finale.
Overall we enjoyed our experience and would recommend Brennan’s to people who are looking for a night of elegance with a side of hospitality.
A very nice new experience for my wife and I on our anniversary. We both got steak. I got the dry age ribeye. It was good, albeit a little over-cooked for medium rare (ended up warm pink in the center). The Lemon merengue pie was absolutely amazing and I would highly recommend it. I also got a fig-infused old-fashioned on the recommendation of the waiter and it was so good that I got another one. Good time and good experience. Don’t forget to order actual sides, as the steak is pretty much served ala carte.
We went to Brennan's for my mom's birthday, and they went all out in making sure that she had a great experience. The table we sat at had been decorated with ribbons and balloons, and the chairs were super comfortable. The entire wait staff that took care of us was outstanding. The food was fantastic. Honestly, we could not have asked for a better experience. And mom is still talking about it four days later. Thank you Brennan's for making my mom feel like a queen on her birthday. We hope to be back soon!
I wish it were a little quieter and better valet system but overall ok.
Always outstanding, always great service, always delicious food. Can't say enough about why I love Brennan's of Houston.
