Dickie Brennan and his culinary team have created an incredible menu of classic New Orleans dishes complemented by new favorites. Signature favorites include Gulf fish on the Halfshell and New Orleans style Barbeque Shrimp.
Bourbon is a central focus at the bar with 200 bourbons on the list. Bourbon House is the perfect place for a specialty cocktail or a straight pour of that hard to find small batch whiskey.
The best thing about the Bourbon House is their menu. I’m a native New Orleanian and everything was authentic.... from the gumbo to the Bbq shrimp! DELICIOUS! Our servers Tom and Hannah were great. They did a great job of keeping our table clean and prepared for every course with out being smothering! We will definitely come back. I do feel that they could update the interior a bit with some new paint on the walls and recushioned booths. A small live jazz band would have been perfect.
Fantastic food! The hostess who took us to our table was apparently not happy to be there but everything else was great. The BBQ shrimp was so amazing we ordered a second plate. Tip- order the shrimp and peel it yourself. It tastes better and it’s definitely more fun. We ordered the second plate peeled and the meat didn’t taste as good. We loved it and will be back!
My oysters were supposed to be charbroiled, they weren't even hot! The waiters had to ask several times about our after dinner drinks before they were correct.
Always spectacular service and expertly exquisite food every time
Went to the Bourbon House on a date night with my wife. We shared grilled oysters with lump crab meat on them. They were delicious and would go back just for the grilled oysters.
As for the rest of the meal I’m no so impressed. I had the BBQ shrimp and the were completely over done. It was all but impossible to peel the shells off but the flavor was good. My wife had the seafood sampler. Very unimpressive. The most expensive offering on the menu I would expect more and better quality.
Service was good with very personable waitress. They made up for some of the short comings of a loud and not very warm atmosphere.
Great food and service
When we walked in and was greeted promptly and they made you feel welcome.
Original NOLA girl moved to Orlando & eat here every time I visit! BBQ shrimp to die for.
It looked like a good idea online. But in reality felt like a tourist trap. I was early for my reservation and called ahead to see if it was ok. The hostess was disinterested on the phone and said that I could sit in the cafe or bar. When I arrived I again acknowledged my name and reservation asked her to cancel it as I would eat in the cafe. Again she was completely not engaged. Sat in the cafe ended up ordering two bourbon pours one blantons and something that was recommended by the waiter. When I said that the recommendation was harsh and would like something else they grabbed up the pours from the table said they were the same and that they were out of blantons!!! ???? Which they were completely different. They should have gotten this right considering it’s a bourbon bar! And the way they took away the original pours made me feel like they were being shady and knew they made a mistake. If you have ever had Blantons you know when it not blantons!!!
Will stay off of Bourbon street from now on. Tourists only belong here
Great food and really good cocktails. Service was very uneven. We ordered a dozen grilled oysters with our drinks. Our oysters came out quickly and were gone by the time our drinks came! 45 minutes later we finally got to order dinner and RE rice my wife’s beer. In their defense, they were busy. They may need a few more waiters at their busy times?
We had a “agitated” head server. The other person helping out getting drinks, bread, etc was Outstanding! If it wasn’t for him we would have left. Our main server was not nice, hurried us along, didn’t offer dessert, didn’t recognize mistakes she made on the order, etc. We spoke with the manager and made sure our guy got the gratuity and not her. You can serve me cold food, late bringing it out, wrong order, it doesn’t matter as long as you are NICE. She was NOT and needs to go get a job doing something other servicing customers in the food industry.
Enjoyed my red fish with crab meat, my friend enjoyed her spinach salad with fried oysters, but my daughter did care for her pasta with oysters. Pasta she felt was overcooked. Our two servers were very helpful.
We came for a birthday celebration after being recommended this place by a few friends. The host staff seemed like they didn’t want to speak to us when we arrived, when we were seated post reservation time the table was covered in water spots and bread crumbs. The silver doesn’t sit on napkins making the choice questionable. The staff was rushed, it seemed like there was too much going on for them even though there were separate waiters for drinks and food, which made things slightly complicated not knowing who to ask for what. Overall poor experience.
Reservations were not ready at the appointed time (we were actually there 10 minutes early, but they still weren't ready at the appointed time. I think they were understaffed but the lady at the desk was rude. Had she simply explained that they needed extra time to get the table ready I would have understood, but I got a surly "they're clearing the table" 10 minutes after my reservation time. When I asked 15 minutes after that I got same response with the same attitude. Food was generally good, but part of mine was cold, which they quickly and politely replaced when I told them.
Overall a good experience, although we did wait 30 minutes to be seated even with a reservation. As with many upscale restaurants, you don't get as much food as you are paying for but the quality was great. Hostess let her stress show through a bad attitude, but wait staff was awesome!
Best brussel sprouts I have had and the crab claws weren't far behind. The entree we got was good, but not amazing. Typical fish cooked well with crabmeat on top. The service was a little slow, they were very crowded but a Brennan's restaurant usually handles crowds easily. They might have just had an off night. I do not recommend the gouda grits as a side. The waitress said that she could get us a side of the grits but they were dry and had no flavor. When I asked the drink waiter if that is how they were supposed to be he said he thought that they were going for more of a dinner grits, not so creamy or soupy. This just tasted like they made a mistake.
Tristan was great. He was very knowledgeable about the menu. Fun!
Wonderful waiters, even the one in training. I’ve been to Bourbon House multiple times and I’m never disappointed. Love the atmosphere and location.
We had the breakfast bar, which was a good value for the variety. It was all fresh and hot. The server seemed disinterested and put-out and overall made the experience less positive.
We visited the bar and oyster bar on pervious occasions and were pleased with the food and service.
Great food and bourbon selection. Very happy with the service and separate food and drink servers. very good recommendations. Bourbon flight is wonderful!
It was quite an enjoyable experience and Kyle was very knowledgeable of the liquors.
Greta dinner and help with the options. Will visit next time we are in New Orleans.
Waiter and beverage Service and most of food was excellent. However it took quite long to get food and one entree was over cooked. Manager did replace it with pre pealed shrimp, but it too was tough.
I expected more. Food was super greasy, service was moderate, not excellent. Worst dessert (bunny cake), apple cheesecake was really good. Gumbo not as good as almost anywhere else I’ve had it in NOLA. Two of our five members didn’t eat their meal. Do not recommend
Exceptional oysters in a city known for oysters. No need to stand in line for Acme. Head to the oyster bar and watch Ricky shuck and clean the best and freshest oysters for you.
Visit New Orleans about 6-10 times a year, we always hit Bourbon House each time to hear specials, eat great food, taste the different bourbons in stock, enjoy company with friends, and enjoy the fancy side of New Orleans. First time using Open Table which worked out great to book reservations in advance! Place is normally busy and packed between 5pm-8pm.
Wonderful! Oysters on the half shell were fresh and a perfect size. The best sazeracs and bourbon flight. Delicious steak and redfish.
Comfortable atmosphere on Bourbon St. Great chargrilled oysters and best Brussel sprouts ever.
Service was great, friendly staff. Great atmosphere and value for money.
Charbroiled oysters best I’ve ever had in all my travels
Everything was absolutely delicious! We were seated quick and served promptly. The staff was helpful and on top of things. This was my second time here and there will definitely be more visits.
New Years eve
Our second time here- they were out of grilled oysters but other than that, everything was spot on. We had the gulf shrimp instead for our appetizer and everyone enjoyed them. The service works very well with a team taking care of you. Fun cocktail menu and very solid wine list.
We'll be back.
The service was excellent. They oysters and Red fish were delicious. We were a party of 5 with a 15 month old. They brought fruit out for the baby and were so accommodating.
It was a wonderful meal with excellent service!!
Just another delicious meal at BH. They make it easy to settle in and really enjoy a quality dining experience. One of my favorite NOLA go-to places b/c it never disappoints or compromises.
Ask for a table that is not at a main walking area. Everyone including the staff kept bumping into my chair all night. It was quite annoying. Other than that the restaurant is nice and the waiters were friendly.
The Milk Punch is amazing! Josh and Tucker gave excellent recommendations. It was a fantastic dinner!
The service was not very good. The wait staff took our intial order and then ignored us the rest of the evening. We were a party of four and two of the party had the red fish dish which was very good. The other two had the seafood sampler which was less than appetizing and overpriced. The crab Imperial was primarily breading and tasteless. The fish was small and dry. And the shrimp was overcooked. The evening would’ve been a complete disappointment if it was not for the professional and courteous manner in which the manager Levi attended to our issues. He listened to our issues and Addressed or concerns. This was her first time at the restaurant so we’re unable to determine if this experience was the status quo. However the manner in which the manager handle did the courage to us to give them another try.
Great food, great service!
Would defiantly recommend
