Beautiful but absurdly over the top. Especially for Kansas City, don't go here if you're starving. But the presentation is Instagram worthy if your into that sort of thing.
American premier dining, unsurpassed pies and comfort food.ChefBert
One of the best restaurants in the city. NOT inexpensive, but worth every dollar!
Love this place. The bar has great drop-in dining.
The bar is a different but super great experience. Bartender is awesome and food great. On the multi course side it is the best restaurant in KC
We travel to a lot of different city’s and we love and know good food. Bluestem is our favorite place anywhere we go. The food and service is 5 star. Taylor and his whole staff are top notch. Ritchey Terry Paris Tx
Valentine’s Day dinner. Best restaurant in KC
The food was wonderful
Great atmosphere for celebrating a special occasion or a nice evening with friends. Glad i was able to celebrate my buds birthday at this location and everything was great. Service was excellent and the servers where knowledgeable and patient with us newbies. Definitely stopping by again in the near future to check out the bar side.
My husband and I ate there for the first time last weekend. We were so impressed with the level of service and how delicious all the food was. It was seasonal, fresh, and the menu took us on a culinary journey. We had a great experience watching the kitchen create the dishes. We will absolutely be eating there again.
Great experience. Went for our anniversary based on a recommendation. Food was AhMAZING!
World-class food at special occasion prices. A special night for sure!
I had the five course meal and they had a best food I’ve ever eaten. I was trying everything and enjoying types of food I normally dislike. This place is well worth every penny I spent.
Excellent bartender and fun, creative drinks. I didn't really enjoy sitting so close to other tables, it got pretty loud. There is only one coed bathroom. It was awesome to be able to see the chefs working. We chose the 7 course menu without the wine pairing. It took about 2.5 hours to be served/eat everything. A lot of the items were really rich in flavor. I took my husband here for his birthday and they had it printed at the top of the menu, and they let us take the menu home. One of the desserts was surprising...it was a cheese dish. But not a sweet cheese dish, so it was kinda weird. But it was still good, just took us by surprise. We would eat here again.
The restaurant didn't seat us until more than 30 minutes past our reservation time. They would have charged us $65 dollars per person (x4) if we cancelled but didn't even offer a free glass of wine for not meeting their end of the deal. Kind of leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
Fine dining: creative menu and beautiful presentation. There were 2 couples + 1 baby. Had 5 course menu, and we all chose different menu, which allowed us to taste all the menu options.
We were seated 50 minutes after our reservation time. It created a very late night. The food was good and interesting but the kitchen was very slow with each course.
They told us to leave because they were waiting for the table. We spent $1000. Very disappointed. Probably won’t be back.
In a class all their own. Our 5 course menu was exceptional from start to finish. Wait staff was superb. When all menus across town start reading the same (and they do), head to Bluestem for innovative dishes, impeccably prepared, and a refreshing dining experience.
All was great except the scallops. When I pointed out they were not properly cooked nothing was done.
This is truly a dining experience! We got the 5 course with wine pairing and every detail was amazing. This is an excellent place to go for a special occasion. The dining room is small and intimate.
Always fantastic and this visit was no exception. Wonderful!
Excellent, as always! Food, presentation, wine pairing, service, all unrivaled. Comfortable, relaxed, not stuffy atmosphere. I will try the three source next time as seven and five left me with several take home
If you have a 6:30 reservation, plan on finishing your meal by 8:30. We were ushered out of the restaurant at 8:30 so our table could be turned. Fortunately, our party of four had ordered the three-course menu. Had we chosen the five-course, we would have eaten only the first three courses. Otherwise, we had a good experience.
This restaurant, for the most part, provides the quality of food I was accustomed to when dining at the American. That's remarkable, because so far, I haven't found anyplace else that does. My dinner date found the fois gras stunning. The caramel cremeaux was a work of art. Lots of attention to tiny details, the plating is beautiful. The service is low key but everything was done perfectly. The dress is business casual, but you can dress up if you want. Always choose the seven-course tasting, you don't want to miss anything. I'm booked for another dinner in a couple of weeks, and I'm excited to try a couple of things I missed this time.
Great food. Creative unique flavors for a great foodie experience.
The food was outstanding and the service was fantastic. It was our first time there and it exceeded expectations! It was a great place to take my wife for her birthday! Thank you for making it a special evening!
This is a true foodie gem. The tastes are amazing. This was probably our sixth visit over the past many years. It’s about a 4 hour drive from home to KC, so when we find ourselves heading to the Plaza, we always try to add a visit to Bluestem and they never disappoint. We were able to enjoy the five course and wine pairings and consider ourselves blessed to be able to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary here. Great service and an incredible dining experience.
Incredible food! It was a dream to taste so many amazing combinations of foods! Service was wonderful!
Quite the event, creative food, beautiful presentation, wine pairings, great service...but I believe they had an "off" night towards the end. Felt rushed at the end because main dish was late, sommelier was busy serving food, wine pours became less informative, dirty glasses left on table, dessert dish picked up before I was finished. Spending too much money for the evening to end this way. But I'm glad I tried Bluestem. For the right reason I would think of coming back.
A wonderful evening with my wife and a friend from out of town. We all enjoyed dining there very much. We had the 5 course meal, each a taste delight. Great place for a special occasion. Wonderful service with a knowledgeable staff.
We have been to Bluestem a number of times and it has become our traditional place for anniversaries. Every time it is nothing less than exceptional and this time was no different. The food is phenomenal and the service is every bit what you would expect of such a tremendous restaurant. We did the 5-course tasting menu with wine pairings, as we usually do. Never disappointed with anything from Bluestem.
Fabulous! Great experience.
It was very expensive and the 5 course meal was all over the place, a very tough slice of prime rib, apeared to be canned duck, horrible, crazy little candies for desert, it was just awful
Every detail was perfect and the food was amazing. I’m a picky eater but loved everything! Can’t wait to go back
Wonderful as usual!!!
Exceptional food for those in search of a fine dining experience. Service is excellent and since there is a limited number of tables the service team really operates as a team. Food taste and presentation is fantastic, but this is not for the person(s) that rate their favorite restaurants by the volume of food they are served. This is truly for the foodie that wants to focus on quality over quantity and doesn't get sticker shock over paying more than $200 for a meal for two; without alcohol. If you are into fine wines along with fine food, expect to pay in the area of $400 for a dinner for two. It is nice but will not be on my regular places to eat list; only special, special occasions.
Wonderful evening with amazing and creative cuisine!
Came here a 2nd time after an anniversary/birthday trip back to KC 10 years ago - even better than we remembered. Tasting menus are creative, lovely, tasty. A special evening again, one of the very best in Kansas City. Expanded since we were last there, view of kitchen is a nice addition.
Food was good, service was excellent, but the cost was high for dining.
