As the premier modern restaurant in the Pearl District, Bluehour opened its doors in 2000, with what Gourmet Magazine describes as, "the most sophisticated, contemporary food in town." Guests choose between the elegant dining room or the casual café and bar.
Surprising and delicious describes the Modern Northwest cuisine we create in the Bluehour kitchen each night. The menu is printed daily, so come in and enjoy Chef David Ezelle's seasonally inspired menu.

By now Blue Hour has the status of a Portland tradition. Each of the small number of entries on the menu is superb. The service is professional, friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The decor is pleasant and the noise level permits real conversation.
One small complaint. In years past valet parking was available. Now one must either hunt for a scarce space in the nearby streets or use a local garage.
Well soup came out first. Waiter said he would come back with spoons but never did? By the time someone noticed us blankly starring at the dish our entrees came out. Tried to get wine after a fair amount of time Somali came out and said they were out of vintage. Overall just very sub part service. While I understand that it was a busy night this is not the first vale bribes day on record.
Unremarkable meal. Service is great. What happened to the valet?
The place itself is good looking however the food is not that great. Valentine's Day menu was so limited and barely anything to choose from. Very overpriced for the quality of food
Very good. I’d go again.
We were never offered bread between getting our first cocktail and main course. We asked for a bottle of wine but they only brought one glass. The lamb looked amazing but it was burnt. The crust had a burnt taste. The live music didn’t start until after 9pm. It was good but not enough of it. The wine list was really good! Oysters were very yummy.
My meal was overcooked I told the waiter he took my plate never offered me anything else to eat. We went for Valentine’s Day.
Server was polite but forgot drinks. Very long wait between the first and second course. Others who ordered after us received their meals prior to us. Once I received my meal, the chicken was red and juices were bloody. The server said it’s because of how it’s cooked (sous vide). As a pregnant woman, I did not feel comfortable eating that meal so it was a waste. The soup was good and desert was delicious. I’m just overall disappointed in the experience as I expected more from previous reviews. I rated 3 stars because the ambiance was great and the food wasn’t horrible (aside from the possibly undercooked chicken.)
The food was tasteless! Steelhead came in a broth that made the fish soggy. Our wine didn’t arrive until we were halfway done with dinner and had to stop and ask a different servers as ours was nowhere to be found. Overpriced for the quality of food that was served, lack of ingenuity.
We went for Valentines fixed menu dinner. The restaurant is beautiful with noise dampening drapery. Unfortunately we were seated towards the kitchen where a man stood shouting out orders to the staff. My main portion was nice sized, but my husbands was small and over cooked. The desserts were very small and for the $$$$ price insufficient.
We had a lovely time. Just right for an intimate Valentine's Day celebration. The service was excellent. Josh was our server and was wonderful. The soup, potato leek was really tasty and the dessert, a dark chocolate torte was also great. We will return.
Special valentine menu okay but not spectacular
Absolutely will refer! And will return!! This was a gift to us and we loved everything. Food, ambiance, jazz was perfect. Our waitress Stevie was the best ever!!! And she was so much fun:) We didn't know about your Happy Hour and we want to bring friends to it also! Fabulous find for us!!! Thanks to a generous friend...
Undeniably the best service in the city. The staff are great: our server timed our meal perfectly—not too fast and not too slow. She offered great suggestions and was very knowledgeable. And the food is great too: creative, tasty and each dish is beautiful. BlueHour is our go to place to eat!
One of the best experiences of dining I’ve had so far, very relaxed evening, over joyed with satisfaction
Staff was very professional, very knowledgeable regarding menu items and extremely polite and helpful all around. Live jazz music was cherry on top! Food was very good, even had a few complimentary treats from the chef. Overall a very lovely experience.
Our experience was outstanding. Our waitress was very experienced, professional, attentive and personable. I am on a restrictive diet and the chef was more than eager to accommodate my needs. Our waitress said he loves a challenge. Our food was amazing. I highly recommend Bluehour.
We had a great business meeting at this restaurant and the food and ambiance was great, but the service left something to be desired. We reserved a table for 6 on the bar side because the bar menu accommodated our group's dietary restrictions better. They seated us in the formal dining room and we didn't realize until after we had ordered drinks that we couldn't order off the bar food menu from there. We asked to be reseated and our current server was courteous in helping us move. However, the hostess told us to remain seated while she investigated whether it was okay for us to move (it was fine) and then she continued to complain about our group audibly to other staff members throughout the evening while scowling at us, despite our original waiter and new waiter seeming fine with the move. We had a good dining experience overall but wish this had been treated differently and didn't appreciate the angst when the original reservation we made was clearly for a bar table.
My wife and I had SUCH a good time here for brunch. The service was impeccable, the ambiance was amazing and the food was perfect. Well done!
I didn’t like the food. The risotto was too salty and soaked in sauce. The pork was so so... however the ambience is a very beautiful classic and the service great. Would give it another try.
Great food in a beautiful setting. Tables are placed so that there is less noice affecting conversation at each table. The addition of jazz starting at 9 pm is an added bonus for music lovers.
Overall a lovely experience.
Excellent service & wonderful food
Above and beyond
Food was delicious. Food took forever to arrive even through the restaurant was empty. We will come back.
Service was not what one would expect at a restaurant of this level. Perhaps just an off night, but disappointing. Had to ask to get server to take order, long wait for food, and forgotten drink orders.
Our evening was perfect! Thank you all for making sure we had the best experience!
Loved the place and atmosphere, great service. Food was good, however not excellent, didn’t meet my expectations. Lamb tasted pretty good, but was not trimmed well. Beet salad was ok, everyone at the table who ordered soup, said it’s was excellent. Desserts were very good. Would not recommend house red wine, however cab blend was very good and balanced.
We come about six times a year. It's always a memorable experience.
My server Jeff had great menu recommendations and was super friendly. Even jogged my memory about the “real” best donut place in Portland since Voodoo Donuts is really just for tourists. I won’t spoil the secret, though.
This place is amazing, I wouldn’t change a thing, one of the best date nights we have ever been on. We will go back, everything from the awesome service, music and the way we felt so special made for a great night. We loved it so much that we stayed for hours and they made us feel so good. If you are looking to have a special intimate night and have your gal leave feeling on top of the world this is the place.
Pretty spectacular experience. We will return.
Superb food and service. Kind attention to special requests. Great vibe. Perfection.
Very nice ambiance. Good trading quality food. Nice wine list. OK service. Worthed the money.
This was quite a disappointment. I had read that Bluehour was one of the best restaurants in the Pearl, and being a foodie, I had high expectations. We ate here for NYE, so it was a special occasion. The prix fixe menu looked promising, the quality of the food was excellent, and the presentation was lovely. However, the flavor was quite underwhelming. The salad, greens and a tart dressing, was quite plain and seemed to be lacking spices altogether (I couldn't even taste pepper). For the main course, we both chose the pork chop which, like the salad, seemed to have been prepared without a rub or any kind. Finally, the cost was $85. While this would have been reasonable if the meal had been more thoughtfully or artfully prepared, it also didn't include a pairing, so on top of the mediocre flavor of the meal, the drinks were extra. Needless to say, we won't be returning. :/
Early Nee Year dinner with friends. Food and service was great as always. Price was extremely expensive for the holiday prefixed limited menus plus the 5% service fee to cover employee costs seemed excessive.
Menu was limited for New Years Eve. Very spendy for what we got. It felt like they rushed us through our courses. Steak my husband ordered was really good. Soup and salad first course was great. Gnocchi was sub par. Again, overpriced, with lots of better options in Portland.
Overall very disappointing
Food was worse than one gets at a low end diner. Service inattentive and disappointing.
Service was great. The salt I ate didn’t come with enough of the pork loin I ordered. Same thing with the steak my wife ordered, the pasta my son ordered. It was good salt but I don’t remember asking for an eight ball’s worth on each bite.
Service was fantastic however. Would give them another try based on the quality of their staff.
Service was amazing. They were so accommodating.
Appreciated the window table ... hopefully next time other patrons at adjacent tables aren’t as obnoxious 🤞🏻
