To ensure this commitment to quality and freshness, Blue Island Oyster Bar has partnered with Chris Quartuccio of Blue Island Shellfish Farms in Long Island, NY to bring you a daily shipment of seasonal oysters and seafood favorites such as Steamed Mussels, Lobster Rolls, Clam Chowder, and fish like halibut, Icelandic cod, and salmon, to name a few.
Our approach is simple: create honest food and drinks and serve it in a casual environment. In short, we are inspired by the oyster farmers and fisherman from coast to coast, who strive to bring you great seafood at an approachable price.

This was our first visit and we will return. All four of us had a Lobster Roll - two classic preparation and two had the avocado chipotle style - all four got rave reviews! The house salad was perfect with an great but unusual vinaigrette that had a hint of sweetness. The trout dip and chips were an excellent shared starter. The spicy Bloody Mary was one of the best I've had. The ambiance is nautical without seeming too gimmicky and the service was warm and professional.

We went to Blue Island Oyster for the first time with friends. The oysters were great and our server was helpful in choosing some good entrees. I had the chowder and the mussels which were both very good. My husband had the mussels risotto and our friends got the steak and lobster roll. Everything was fresh and delicious. We will definitely go back!

So disappointed by our experience here. We chose it for Easter Brunch and everything about it was a mess. First it took forever for someone to come over and take our drink order and then our drinks took forever to arrive, which is extra frustrating when you order a bottomless mimosa and therefore aren't getting a chance to really take advantage of that special. They also forgot the drink order of one person at the table so then it took extra time for that person to get their drink. It took about an hour to get our food. I ordered the lobster scramble, which said that it would be a soft scramble, they even took the trouble of warning you about the dangers of undercooked food on the menu. There was no danger here. The hardest cooked scrambled eggs I have ever experienced and the lobster was also overcooked and rubbery. The cream cheese was an afterthought and wasn't mixed into the scramble at all, it was cold. If the restaurant was at capacity, you could maybe understand these service errors, but there were plenty of open tables and no one at the bar. We tried several times to let the server know that we weren't happy with the service, so that she could explain what was happening - we're reasonable people and were willing to give the the benefit of the doubt. But no explanation was ever given, so I have to assume that this is just the normal way this restaurant runs, so we won't be back.

Despite liking their sister restaurants and living in the neighborhood, never went. Don't like oysters. But a direct mail coupon encouraged a first-time visit. It won't be the last! Much more than oysters though for those who like them (and most people do I realize), there's plenty of that. Wonderful entrees (Fisherman's Wharf pasta for my partner, fish & chips for me), fantastic Happy Hour 7 days a week lasting until 6:30PM, good atmosphere and very fair price-point. The mailer worked as it should, bringing them new business and then the experience itself bringing us back soon.

We call BS on the Yelp reviews. We’d heard from friends and neighbors that this place was okay. Not great. But the Yelp reviews are glowing. Do not be fooled. There was nothing spectacular, interesting, or even good here. I take that back—I did have a good glass of wine.

I don’t think I’ve ever written a review of a restaurant but I feel I should because my husband and I both were surprised by the complete disconnect between our meal and the reviews. There are so many better restaurants around. Don’t waste your money here.

Overall the food was very good. The poke was delicious as were my oysters.

I ordered the black cod with miso glaze, which I didn’t love. It was a little fishy and the glaze was a little heavy and overpowered the dish.

My son’s lobster mac and cheese was very tasty, with plenty of chunks of lobster.

My key lime pie was very good.

I would go back for the wonderful oyster selection and would certainly try another entree, just not the cod.

A very light and inviting restaurant! The wait staff, from the moment we walked in the door, was helpful, engaging, friendly and on the ball which we appreciate. Our waiter was a professional yet so casual and just a natural with impeccable service. Food was amazing, had GREAT swordfish, and the entrees comes with a salad and a side. We will be back! Very pleasant experience!

Here's our deal. Being from California our fish experience here in Denver over 10 years is, to put it mildly, crapola. I give Blue Island this; the roasted oysters were delish. We also ordered the lobster salad which was so so on the more positive side of so so. We ordered fish tacos which we rate as B. We had a nice bottle of delish wine at very reasonable price; A! The bistro atmosphere is loud loud loud, but! we had conversation with folks to our left and to our right that was actually very festive. Folks from New Mexico on one side and England on the other, so Blue Island is global?
Not quite sure of the reservation system. We had a 7:30 and the hostess said it would be a few minutes. 15-20? Several, 3-4? groups walked in after us and went right to their tables while we were standing around thinking we were the red headed step children. It wasn't a big aggravation. Just democratic curiosity.
Anyway, us guys will be back to Blue Island. We enjoyed our outing.
By the way we enjoyed our waiter who was willing to chat a bit in a personal way as opposed to net neutrality or indifference whatever you want to call it.

Great raw oysters although pricey, as everywhere in Denver. Fish tacos were very good, as was lobster Mac and cheese. Fried clams and French fries were ok, but lots of breading. Will go back, staff is accommodating although service is “leisurely”. Valet parking is a real plus in the crowded Cherry Creek North neighborhood.

Oysters, especially the grilled oysters were delicious. Fair wine selection not overwhelming. The black cod was great and the salad with pickled fennel was tasty. My wife had the scallop salad which she thought was very good. My daughter had the lobster macaroni and cheese she loved and my son in law had the seafood risotto which he described as delicious with lots of seafood, more than typical. The sides were very good. We had the brussel sprouts, roasted broccoli and curried cauliflower all great. Will be back again. Also 1/2 price bottles of wine on Tuesday!

Happy hour menu changed—everything more pricey. Drinks are smaller. Favorites are off the menu except for the fish tacos. Had fish and chips. One section still had the soine—yuck. I have really enjoyed Blue Island Oyster until now but doubt I will come back or recommend it.
