About Blue Island Oyster Bar & Seafood
Blue Island Oyster Bar’s menu, decor, culture and overall experience is inspired from the owners’ childhood memories of growing up in small coastal towns. Combine this with superb hospitality, creative libations, and a passion for delicious food makes it Cherry Creek's freshest seafood restaurant. To ensure this commitment to quality and freshness, Blue Island Oyster Bar has partnered with Chris Quartuccio of Blue Island Shellfish Farms in Long Island, NY to bring you a daily shipment of seasonal oysters and seafood favorites such as Steamed Mussels, Lobster Rolls, Stuffies, Clam Chowder, Crab Cakes, and fish like halibut, Icelandic cod, and salmon, to name a few.

Blue Island Oyster Bar & Seafood Ratings and Reviews
Appealing interior design in a very nice area. Menu leans toward East Coast seafood favs with creative twist. Clam chowder very hearty. My fried clams were no greasy at all...fine tempura style. My wife's trout was ok, but could have been made much better with a side other than a small salad, which the waiter did not tell her about when she ordered a bib salad as an appetizer. In fairness, the waiter was very nice, but new. He could have used a teammate in taking the order and making certain it was entered into their system correctly, which is was not. The manager was very appolegetic and they comped a cocktail I ordered. Definitely would go back.
I am not a big seafood fan other than a few dishes (trout, shrimp, lobster), but my wife likes seafood, so we decided to go out to dinner at Blue Island. I was very impressed with the meal, and ordered the Surf & Turf. It included a 6 oz filet which was cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth. The lobster & avocado salad was also delicious. The portions were large enough that my wife and I shared both plates. And, to be honest, we also shared an order of shoestring fries. Definitely a great experience -- the service at the bar was great, and the wine the bartender recommended was great as well.
We went to Blue Island for Thanksgiving dinner. They were offering a fixed menu, so the options were limited, but we were happy with the options. I got the butternut bisque, the salmon, and the bourbon apples. Hubby got the clam chowder, the turkey dinner, and the bourbon apples. The hubs was happy with all of his dishes. The soup came with a tiny battered crab cake on a skewer, and he said it was awesome. His turkey dinner came with all of it: turkey breast, stuffing, cranberries, mashed. He was happy with all of it. I really liked the soup. It came with crispy sage leaves which added nice texture. The salmon dish was ok. The fish was a little overcooked. The gastrique on the bottom seemed to be the same thing as I had just eaten- the butternut bisque. It was delicious again, but definitely redundant. The accompanying charred brussels were cooked well, but a bit underseasoned/ leaning to a bit too dry. We were stoked on the bourbon apples (although they could have been cooked a bit longer- they were not super soft.) The flavor was divine, as was the little dollop of vanilla ice cream on top. In all, we really like the place, the service was great, and the food was good. I am interested to go again to try the full menu.
For a first visit, my expectations were definitely exceeded. The food was delicious and the drinks were excellent. Our server's knowledge of their menu and of the individual oyster types was really impressive and she was helpful in ensuring we ordered what we were looking for. Can't wait to go back for their happy hour and Wednesday night special.
We had Borati to start - made with what looked like canned tomatoes - followed by fish and chips - the fish was Luke warm and the shoestring fries also not hot and seemed a bit old. Service was pleasant enough but awfully rushed - we didn’t have time to relax and have a conversation (even after we’d explained we did not want to be rushed). This is only slightly above the level of a fast casual while trying to be more sophisticated.
Oysters were fresh. The Canadian oysters were just our size. food well-prepared. The Fish and chips were relish. The cod was very fresh. Save room for the Key Lime pie. Super service by Kate. She knows what she is doing and has good recommendations. Excellent experience. We will be back.
Had chowder, dozen oysters (busy place, couldnt get in until 845pm and the oyster tasting I wanted was sold out. Reserve early!), mussels prepared traditional style. All food was good but nothing spectacular. The 50/50 martini with tbe cured olives was amazing however. Would return for sure amd do it a little different. Service was attentive all the way through.
We got an email about the 99 cent oysters after 8:30 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, so we decided to try that out. A GREAT deal! Everything was fine until we wanted our check and then wanted to pay--I guess it's called 'the prisoner zone.' You can't leave until you pay so you are at the mercy of staff to follow up. The bartender apparently forgot about my credit card and I had to ask her 'did you forget about us?' It's a good thing we love this place anyway...but attention to these little things really will improve the whole experience.
I'm still disappointed that they did away with the mug of clam chowder--the presentation was great. But...the clam chowder is still magnificent!
Celebrated our son's 25th birthday here because he loves seafood. Dinner was quite pricey, especially $25 for a lobster roll. My husband had the ahi tuna salad and said it was the best salad he has ever eaten. Our sons swordfish was delicious. He loved the oysters he ordered as well. Would not order the lobster roll again. The clam chowder was tasty but there was sand in it. There was also sand in the clam pasta that we ordered. That was a disappointment. I would return, just not for dinner.
Food was great and ambience was nice. Casual for Cherry Creek North is relative, but it did have a good down to earth feel. We had stone crab and Alaskan king crab legs as well as a number of sides. Friends ordered oysters and clams. We had martinis, wine and margaritas between us as well as the key lime pie. The food overall was delicious. No complaints on any food item at all. The sides seemed skimpy and I could have eaten a few more of them. It seemed over priced but we enjoyed ourselves and as I said, it all tasted great. But after $180 for our half of the check, I went home hungry.
Service was great. Our server notified us right off the bat that if we wanted another round of oysters we should let her know so they could get them out quickly. One of our friends has a seafood allergy and ordered fries as a side dish for their burger. The server quickly realized that the fries are fried in oil that could have seafood or oil that could cause an issue and replaced the fries immediately.
We enjoyed a wonderful meal from the fresh array of oysters to the chocolate cake and blonde brownie desserts. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. The seafood entrees were perfectly prepared. The vegetable sides were delicious. We especially enjoyed the preparation of the eels and the shaved Brussels sprouts. We will be returning.
This was our first time at this restaurant. I am a seafood lover and the choices I had were very good. Everything was fresh and flavorful despite the food not being warm. I will put this restaurant on my favorites list because of the possibilities. However, I was disappointed that I reserved High top seating but when I got there I was told they could not put my party there even though the seating was available. Then I noticed two different parties being seated in that area 30mins or so after I arrived. I was on time for my reservation. I would encourage management not to offer that seating if they can decide to arbitrarily take it away. Also, our food arrived a little slow and cold, it did not seem that the restaurant was that busy it was not full. Everyone has an off night maybe our waiter was distracted. I will most definitely give Blue
Oyster another go.
My wife and I have eaten at Blue Island several times. The food is always excellent, especially the clam chowder. We also tried the Thai calamari which was very flavorful. In general, the service has always been fine. This visit, the pacing of food was super slow. I’m not exactly sure why that was since the restaurant was not that busy and we ate at 1pm. I hope this was a one time issue.
