We enjoyed dining outside. I don’t think I would have enjoyed it as much if inside because of the noise level. However it was Valentines Day. The meatball appetizers, both the veggie and meat ones, are a must. I ordered chicken, which was absolutely fantastic.

Celebrated a birthday over the weekend. The ambiance is always nice and the view of the sunset and ocean is spectacular. It did get very loud once it became more crowded and it was hard to hear from across the table. This is troublesome if you are with someone who is hard of hearing. The appetizer of the eggplant meatballs was delicious and the sauce was flavorful and spicy. However, the main courses lacked the same sense of flavor. The salmon was very bland with minimal (if any) seasoning. While it states that the salmon dish comes with brussel sprouts, mushrooms, and butternut squash, it’s 85% mushrooms, 10% butternut squash, and maybe 1 brussel sprout, which was disappointing as I was looking forward to brussel sprouts and prefer that to mushrooms. The birthday dessert was like a funfetti cake with some sprinkles on top. Again, felt like it was lacking in flavor. Overall, nice environment to celebrate but the food was not great.

Service was “so-so,”. Our waiter was not very attentive as we had to ask twice about why two of the three drinks ordered had not been delivered. An ice tea was brought to table but no sugar nor did waiter ask if we wanted sugar. Difference between great service an okay service.

Had reservations but it took 25 minutes to get seated event though there were lots of empty tables. The hostess seamed overwhelmed. My family was the first to check in but we were the last to be seated. All the white people were seated before us even though they came in after us - I'm just saying...
The manager was inexperienced. It was my daughter's birthday and I reserved BlueGold because I expected a special meal. The food was good, but I felt like I was constantly looking for our server to bring drinks or utensils. $300 for three people with terrible treatment. Never again.

Food was ok but didn’t live up to price or description.The biggest problem was the long gaps between seating ,drinks, food,dessert,check and the waiter was like a ghost
2 hours total with a 1/2 full restaurant. I can’t see myself coming back unless for happy hour. Too bad for a very nice location.

Beautiful restaurant with a beautiful view. Immaculately clean. Food presentation is on point.
Excellent food.
Service is a bit slow but that’s partly because everything is made fresh. I think of all the wait staff should wear a uniform. Staff looked a bit rumpled and messy. Doesn’t go with the high end restaurant presentation.

We were in town for a weekend and wanted to check this place out. It was easy to make reservation on Open Table and were immediately seated upon arrival. We originally booked for outdoor seating, but it ended up being colder than anticipated. The host was great with helping us find seating inside instead—we were sat at the chef’s table similar to eating at a sushi bar. This was great because we got to see the kitchen preparing all the dishes and guessing what each was. We ordered a variety of dishes, but had trouble with a few. For instance, many of the clams in our daily steamers weren’t cracked open and the sauce was missing butter. Also, the uni risotto was overcooked. Our waiter was great with helping us sending back the dishes to be remade and ensured that it was better the second time around. Overall, we had higher expectations for what we ordered, but had a good experience nonetheless.

This experience was a mixed bag. We had a reservation for 7 people. Our first table squeezed 7 adults into a very tight space. After a bit of gentle complaining, a larger table was found. Our server was good, the food was very good, but we waited more than an hour for our entrees. It looked like a very large group (30 plus) was served before we were. Very frustrating since several of our folks were east coast folks already pushing their endurance. (I had explained to our server that this was a business meeting of folks from all over the country.) I’d try the restaurant again, just because the food was excellent and I’ll assume the slow service an anomaly.

It was so disappointing! We never got our food. The waitress obviously forgot to put our order in and we sat there for 50 minutes waiting for 3 easy dishes, breakfast & a salad. The waitress checked on our order and said that the food was ready and sitting in the kitchen but she was waiting for the third dish. We asked her if she could kindly bring whatever was ready out and she completely ignored us. We sat there and watched how people got all their food delivered and they came in 20 minutes after us. The restaurant was not busy when we went in so it was such a disappointment would never go back or recommend it.

I love blue gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooold! I took my girlfriend there for our anniversary brunch and it was a very nice experience. We were seated with a very nice view of the beach and the food was amazing. We are definately going back 😀

Seated quickly. Waited over 20 minutes at our table for someone to say hello or even bring us water. It took me to flag down the manager to get some attention.

The server (finally) was VERY NICE and PROFESSIONAL.

Filet mignon was fabulous everything else was fairly good.

Spent over $350. I’d say there are much better choices of restaurants.

Deeply disappointed, as you’d think they would have at least brought us rolls as a little gesture. NOPE. Fully charged $7 for 4 bland rolls with honey and butter.

Service was awful. We got a glass of water then waited about 20 minutes for our server to come back. Food was okay, not the greatest for the cost of the bill The table next to us (there were only 4 people) thought they were the only ones in the restaurant. They were soooooooooo loud and disrespectful of others around them. Not worth the price. There are mush better restaurants out there for the same price or even less. Other than the view, it doesn't offer much. Don't waste your money.

The food was wonderful. The Brussels sprouts and filet mug on were delicious. Our food took a really long time but we didn’t notice because we had good company. The waited felt bad so he took a round of drinks off the tab. Would still recommend.

The food was pretty good. But not out of this world. That said the service was abysmal. We waited an exceptionally long time for everything, no one checked back to make sure our food was ok after delivery. Our server kept disappearing for long periods of time. Our appetizers appeared so out of sync that some of us were done before others had arrived. Ordered a glass of wine and had to ask multiple times to actually get it. The food was good but not amazing. But the service was really bad. Especially considering the caliber of restaurant/price.

Took about 25 minutes once seated to get our drinks. We ordered a $100 bottle of Champagne. When it finally came the waiter said it was warm and would need to chill some more. Once he opened the bottle there was no pop of the cork. The champagne was flat. We sent it back and ordered TITO's...

The food was drenched in butter, cream and oil....no matter the dish, it was like eating a stick of butter.

Food was fabulous, Service was as expected, the restaurant was very loud and cold... The first point of check in was the worst... We were 30 minutes early for reservation, restaurant had many tables open and few people in bar or restaurant, we asked to be seated early, hostess checked with Manager who looked up at us and said “You’ll have to wait for your reservation” with a bit of an attitude... Did not suggest waiting in the bar but we did because there were many open seats at the bar.
Bottom line is we waited like children following rules and there was no reason other than control by this Woman. When we went to the desk at our reservation time we were seated and there were still many tables open (7:30) reservation... If the food wasn’t so good, we would not go back, our hope is the reception is better... Hostess was nice Manager had the attitude

Food, drinks, service and atmosphere all perfect. I loved my meal. Peruvian sea bass with charred vegetables. I balked at the price, but after I tasted there was no disputing the quality of fish. Best I’ve ever had. Best restaurant in Huntington Beach.

Went for a special occasion - 13th wedding anniversary. Our server David was very gracious, helpful and attentive. We both ordered fish (halibut and opakapaka) which was excellent, which was excellent except my order got a little confused in the kitchen and came out as another fish entree. David’s recovery was excellent - my wife’s dish was kept warm while they straightened mine out in a timely way. Her halibut ended up being a tad overdone, but still delicious, mine was delicious as well. Points to David for the recovery. Overall, the meal and experience was excellent, but the noise level is a bIt much if you’re looking for a quiet dinner. Points to Bluegold - they comped us an aperitif and desert for the anniversary and as apology for the kitchen mix-up.

Sadly some of the food we ordered were overly salty, and I eat salty food like no big deal, but this time was absolutely excessive! We had brunch next door at LSXO and were told that they’re the same owner/chef but the food next door was absolutely delicious!

We usually love this place, but it was terrible. The service was awful and food was just okay. Our food came out wrong, but by the time anybody came over to check on us, we were done and ready to go.
