BLT Steak - Waikiki Ratings and Reviews
Went to BLT Steak for the first time and read reviews about it so we decided to try this place for my husbands birthday dinner. We were greeted appropriately and brought to our table. We waited for our water and to take our order as we saw that they tended more to tourist and guest of their hotel. Not local friendly at all and it felt like we were being judged by the way the wait staff looked at us. The food was nothing special. It was upsetting that our food wasn’t even hot. A couple of people had their food returned to be heated up. We just ate our food even if it was cold. My husband had the 16oz ribeye with bone in that was served on one of those skillets that’s supposed to be sizzling but it wasn’t... the butter was coagulated on the top of the steak like it was sitting for a while. I had he miso butterfish that was also cold... we had a complementary bread pudding dessert for my husbands birthday and mocha brownies those were the only good thing we tasted from this restaurant... overall not a great experience and not going to be returning
My husband and I came for Thanksgiving. I’m rating it 4 stars for a number of things. We arrived early when all but two other diners were dining when the hostess sat us at the most awkward seat (right in front of the waiter station). At first we thought this was ok but it was not fun with 8 or 9 waiters bustling past you. We opted out of the Pre-Fix Meal went for the Filet. Our meal began with what looked like two tiny pieces of scrap toasted baguette slices and a small pot of pate. Maybe that was an amuse bouche. Next we waited for the famed (for the reviews) Popovers. Now my husband and I love bread and these were of good size. However, when they described them as having gruyere and something else, they just tasted like slightly over baked but decent bread. Next, we received our steaks and sides. Now the 8 oz Filet (small) was practically melting in our mouths. No need for the 3 sauces, although delicious too. Our two sides (as the waiter mentioned were enough for two) were the Spicy BBQ Kahuku Corn and Brussels Sprouts w/bacon and honey. The corn was set in a tiny cast iron (not enough for two) but so delicious. The Brussels Sprouts were uneventful, I have to say. I guess I was expecting them to be crispy with flavor. Our waiter was very attentive and promptly re-poured my red wine as there were gnats that flew in. We then ordered dessert which was some pumpkin pie like dessert but not as tasty as first expected. Now the meal was hefty penny but I didn’t expect the Fiji water to be $9 a piece.
Great food! We ordered the Thanksgiving pre fixe menu with the wine pairings .
Lobster and Pumpkin Bisque
Brussel Sprouts (honey, onions, and bacon)
Every course was great. However, the server was slow and our wine pairings never came on time. We finished our desserts and most of our appetizers before our wine pairings arrived (even after waiting for a couple minutes). The bus boy was excellent, and our food was boxed and ready to go when we finished. Our server did not come to our table for over ten minutes (consistent with the rest of the night). No coffee, tea, or other drink was offered. I had to get up to request the check.
I would go again, but I would not want the same server.
There was also a great kids menu!
Wow! So glad we tried this place. We eat at Ruth’s Chris often and love their steaks- the steak we had here was better. They serve it with three sauces on the side but we didn’t use them. They had some wines on the list that were not too expensive- we got one for$38. The salmon was also excellent, crusty on the outside and so tender on the inside. The bread is popovers which I find kind of tasteless, though I love the texture. They serve them with whipped butter and salt and so they were yummy. Our server was great , Andrew. The squash soup was good, for squash soup. I wished I had gotten the oysters. Everything was delicious! Recommend it highly.
On vacation here in Waikiki and we can’t stop talking our experience at BLT!
We have been to what is considered some of the best steak houses but BLT rivals them all and exceeds most!
We started the evening with delicious cocktails - the perfect blue cheese olive Belvedere martini and an outstanding Woodford Reserve cocktail 🍸🥃
We shared the Porterhouse after the tuna tartare appetizer and we can’t get over how delicious it was. It was cooked perfectly. The seasoning was like nothing we ever tasted before. Alone or topped with the roasted garlic and one of the outstanding sauces it was melt in your mouth delicious. The staff was extremely accommodating and kind and treated us very well down to the complementary sweets at the end of the meal. Wonderful experience!
We expected a lot more from a “high end” steakhouse. Service was certainly not up to that label. We were greeted quickly at the bar beforehand, then the bartender didn’t come back for quite some time despite the bar and restaurant not being very busy. Once seated, it didn’t improve much. Our waiter couldn’t manage a smile the entire time we were there and we had difficulty getting his attention multiple times. The complimentary amuse bouche was a nice touch, but it would help if they mentioned what it was. We had to flag down another waiter to ask. We’d heard about the complimentary turnovers and when we asked our waiter about them he said someone must have forgotten them but he would get them right away. We split a Caesar salad. It was okay but the dressing was too salty for our taste and a bit watery. Just before our steaks arrived we got the turnovers which were very good. They also give you a little card with the recipe on it. My New York steak was cooked just right and very good as was my wife’s filet. We split hash browns which are served in a little cast iron pan and looked like they would be crispy and good. Unfortunately, they were chewy, not crispy, and tasted like the oil wasn’t fresh. We didn’t save room for dessert, but they did bring three little brownie bites at the end of the meal which were pretty good. The little complimentary touches are nice, but I think it would be better if they focused on service a little more. The best service was from the runners/server assistants who were much more friendly and attentive. For a meal costing $220 plus tip, with two cocktails each, it certainly didn’t meet our expectations.
Very noisy. Not good for conversation. The tables are positioned too close to each other. The food was over seasoned and heavy-handed on the salt. This meant we could not discern the quality of the meat because the seasonings too strongly overpowered its natural flavors. Perhaps it was just an off night for the kitchen crew. Happy we had the opportunity to try this restaurant. We are certain they will continue to improve. Our waiter was wonderful!
Best Butter Fish I have ever tasted. My husband ordered the filet and said it was outstanding. Service was impeccable. The restaurant is situated on a very busy corner, so the noise level from street and inside the restaurant is loud.
It was a great experience overall. Our server was very pleasant as were her assistance. The GM also dropped by and table to check in and was very gracious and knowledgeable. The ambiance and food were top shelf! Will certainly put this on our rotation next time we're in Honolulu, which is saying something as we also experienced some other very good "locally" owned restaurants as well.
