   Benzina is a neighborhood dining jewel. The small plates type menu changes regularly and each dish is carefully designed. The wood-fired pizza is fabulous but you can also find unique pastas and salads. Good for kids or on a date. One of my favorites!

   Any neighbors who haven’t been, you are missing a gem! Any in the metro area, it is So Worth the Drive. Forget about NY, Chicago, Detroit and all, this is Italian Pizza!

   We were celebrating a milestone birthday. First round of drinks was really good. Appetizer was marginal (risotto balls). We shared a couple of entrees - squid ink pasta and ravioli. The pasta was decent, okay portion and fine flavors. The ravioli was so salty we had to turn it back. Second round of drinks was also a fail - while the first was a lovely old fashioned on a big cube, the second was on the rocks and had no balance. It was just whiskey. Server was pleasant but hard to get hold of, manager was checked out. It seems like there's not a lot of excitement for the work anymore. Sorry we missed the heyday!

   We had another great experience at Benzina. We had the margarita DOP pizza. The crust is so perfect that I could almost cry. The gem lettuce in the smoked trout ceasar was crisp and sweet and fresh. The flavors were amazing and the service was excellent.

   This is a gem of a restaurant. Please help keep it open...it deserves to remain in the the Denver restaurant scene. A great vibe in a beautifully repurposed gas station (Benzina is Italian for gasoline), The staff are friendly and attentive and watching the talented chef Danny and his amazing crew prepare unique and tasty Italian food at the open kitchen is a real treat. Not your typical "pizzeria", and serving a very select/curated menu, but if you are looking for great food in an upscale, upbeat atmosphere, this is the place!!
