Indian Fine Dining Restaurant with British Flair in the Heart of Mayfair.

Benares Restaurant and Bar since its opening in 2003 has been considered one of the finest Indian Restaurants in the city.

Guests enter an elegant lounge with hand-crafted India inspired furniture and is complemented by a beautiful pond decorated with fresh flowers, creating a luxurious aesthetic.

Benares has 4 private dining rooms, three of which are around the lounge: the Berkeley Room which seats up to 16 guests, the Sommeliers Table which seats up to 10 guests and a Chefs Table overlooking the kitchen which seats up to 8 guests. The lounge area leads into the main dining room which can accommodate up to 80 guests. Our largest private dining area, the Dover room seating up to 36 guests is on the other side of the main dining room.

Benares can be hired for exclusive events accommodating 100 guests for a sit-down dinner and 250 guests for a standing reception.

We loved the main course dishes. I had the halibut (Samundri Khazana) my wife had a lamb shank (Gosht Kalimirch) dish along with a, both were extremely flavoursome., I would definitely order those again. I normally have an appetizer before the main course, however with the small selection nothing took my fancy. On a high note the chefs recommend Banana Halwa Cherry tart is highly recommended.

Wow!! We went all in with the tasting menu with pairing, it was all worth it! Everything was perfect. The sommelier did a great job with the pairing. His knowledge and talent made us discover different wines all effective with the great plates that the chef designed! We strongly recommend!

It was a lovely meal with fantastic service. Food was great. The deal breaker was the small child watching his cartoons with volume and his iPad on top the table next to us. Definitely a distraction from the ambiance.

Very nice evening and place to celebrate my wife’s birthday. The different tastes of the dishes and the pairing of wines was delightful. Very nice staff indeed.

I remember the food being better. This time round it was lacklustre. I kept chasing and reminding waiters for our drinks orders, even though several waiters stopped by and asked to take our orders. Food when it arrived was ok, not wow. disappointed as it's lost it's edge, yet the price has gone up.
