Great service and ambiance. Food was good but extremely overpriced. A good place for a special occasion but not everyday dining.
Excellent service, the food was excellent as well.
Came for my birthday with my friends and had the most amazing time, customer service, food, laughs, etc. EVERYTHING was perfect. 10/10 would recommend
I had made reservations for two people for my birthday dinner, which I had last minute changes to my reservation. I had guests that wanted to join me. I end up being 6 people. They accommodate it for me with out any hassle, I was in shock. Beauty and Essex provided great customer service, great food, and great ambiance. I will definitely go back for drinks and food it was delicious.
I heard great things about this place so I decided to try it. The place is really nice
The food, I think I expected much more from it, the combinations looks great, but at the end is not fantastic.... it’s good, but my expectations where completely different
I think I am in love with the bartender. There was this drink called a green with envy and it had jalapeño nectar in it. I asked him to make it extra spicy and let me just say, I had more than one. The food was delicious, but the drinks were fire!
Tremendous meal at a great value with wonderful service.
I had a reservation for 9:30pm and was sat at 10:15. When we were escorted to our table, it was a low bar top table. Kind of odd for dinner reservations. I asked the hostess if she could seat us at a dinner table and not a low bar top table. She was very nice and understanding (I wish I got her name). We ordered our second drink at the bar upstairs and waiting another 20 minutes or so. The buzzer went off and we were finally seated at a dinner table over an hour after our initial reservation. I was actually displeased because not only were we sat an hour after our reservation but, Beauty & Essex requires a credit card to hold a reservation (not a big deal) and requires 48 hours notice for a cancellation.... but clearly they’re okay with seating you at a low table top 45 minutes after your reservation.... I have been here before for my birthday brunch and had an enjoyable experience. I will never come back for dinner!
My friend and I were visiting LA just for the weekend to attend a concert and we wanted to have dinner somewhere unique and upscale. We were not disappointed at all. The food was amazing and the ambience was exactly what we had hoped for. The waiter's recommendations were on point as well.
Excellent food and service that topped off a very long 30th Anniversary (lunch in Fiji and Dinner in La on the same day).
Delicious food, great service.
Alysha from New Hampshire was an outstanding waitress. Please request her-she's so knowledgeable about the menu. We really enjoyed meeting her!!! Very attentive!
Great food and ambiance! They had a DJ to help make the restaurant have a lounge vibe feeling. Sexy place to go on a date or with friends! Service was great (although the last 30 minutes attention from our main waitress slowed down so that was a little frustrating but overall the service, food and vibe was great). Would definitely come back!
Beauty & Essex is a fantastic restaurant now on the top of my list! The kale salad to start is amazing, with its varied texture, taste and the great balance of the kale, apples, and pecans. The entrees are creatively explosive in your mouth. Both the salmon and the bass are perfectly cooked. I would favor the salmon over the striped bass, though. The starters are fun to eat. Service is impeccable. And the atmosphere makes you feel like you're in some NY private club that has the vibe of Hollywood. Great decor. The tall ceilings on the main floor, create a dramatic ambiance, with its skylight window and textured walls. The chandeliers are simply beautiful.
Friend visiting from Virginia
I always enjoy Beauty and Essex. The food is excellent and its a fun scene. Its a bit overpriced but always fun.
Beauty & Essex far exceeded my expectations. The food was fantastic and the service was impeccable. My entire party thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and we will definitely be going back!
Overall great experience. The waiter was extremely informative and very attentive. The food was good, only bad side was, it came out cold and needed to be reheated. Other than that, I would rate 8/10.
Deep fried deviled eggs are my new Fav!! The Whiskey Sours were perfect, and the Mexican Street Corn Ravioli had so much flavor. I will definitely be back.
Celebrated my birthday here and the General Manager Brenden made it amazing! The food was great, our server was awesome and the restaurant itself is gorgeous. Definitely recommend!
We decided to sit at the bar and asked our bartender Cody for suggestions on what we should order. He did a nice job of recommending some delicious bites.
Our favorite were the grilled cheese, smoked bacon and tomato soup dumplings, the Gargenelli, the ahi tacos, and the gem salad. Feel free to skip the deviled eggs and the brussel sprouts.
We met Chris a few year ago at Stanton Social... he’s been kind enough to chat with us when we have a chance to be in one of his fabulous restaurants. Great guy... great chef!
Wonderful staff and delicious food! Thank you for having such a great location in the heart of Hollywood.
The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Great place for a night out.
All around great dining experience. From the elegant ambiance of the large dining room to the service to the food it was all good.
The seared scallops, crab risotto, chicken liver pate, tuna poke tacos, and more, were all great.
Great spot for a date. Super Chic and Sexy all the time
Tried too hard to make food “different “ but not better than more traditional restaurants
Insanely amazing. Love this place
Terrible service ! We waited an hour for our table after checking in 12 min early ! The food was substandard and drinks were terrible !
Never again ! We were charged for two dishes we didn’t order !
Came here with a group of friends we hosted from out of town to celebrate a birthday. My boyfriend and I had been to the Vegas location, but this was our first visit to the LA one since it opened. The customer service was excellent, and everything about the restaurant was beautiful - even the alley way entrance! It was a little noisy in the main dining are where we were seated, but the music they were playing was great (when I could hear it over the loud tables around us). Could have just been the acoustics... Would love to come back here for a date night. Thank you Beauty & Essex!
great looking restaurant , great service
great food , very loud.
kinda pricey for what you get
lots of people watching. the patio is a nice addition.
Amazing!! The food was amazing, especially Kale Salad. Highly recommend.
I always love this place. Great food and ambience
Finally was able to come here, totally loved it! They surprised us with a cute anniversary dessert which was really adorable and considering I had forgotten I had clicked “anniversary” specifically it was a great surprise!
What a great gem of a find. Give it a try. You will be pleased you did!
Beautiful experience as always. I frequent Beauty & Essex NY but this was my first experience in LA. 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
As a long time resident of Hollywood, I am really impressed with the vision SBE has brought to life with the addition of Beauty & Essex and Tao to the neighborhood. It's reignited a sense of Hollywood glitz and glamour that people expect in this iconic part of town, and that's been missing for decades.
I booked a reservation several days in advance through open table and the hostess called the day of to confirm. I called back to confirm and asked the hostess to put a note in the reservation to please not seat us next to the kitchen, restroom or a server station.
We arrived on time and were asked to wait fifteen minutes. When we were called to be seated, they took us to a table that was literally right next to a service station, where I could see the dirty rags that were on the floor in the employee locker room that I could see through the curtain that everyone kept running through. We had about three elbows in the face from servers passing by the station, when I requested that we be seated in a different table.
This time, we had to go back to the lounge and wait for a half hour to get a new table and by this time we were going to be late to see my friend's band play down the street, so we opted to eat some snacks in the bar instead and then call it a night.
The GM was very gracious and bought us a round of drinks and an appetizer for our troubles, which seemed great in the moment, until you get the bill and you realize that you've paid $20 a drink for the other two rounds and some mediocre appetizers, eaten over a little knee height table in the middle of a loud bar, without having gotten to enjoy the experience of sitting at a dining table, having the menu explained, picking out a nice wine, etc. etc., yet still paying fine dining prices.
It's just par for the course with this type of establishment. A great venue for large groups, but as a party of two, you are an afterthought and the hassle and effort are not worth the price.
Never disappoints. Great spot to catch up with friends before going out for drinks or to take a date.
Reservation was only good to gain entrance. Took an hour to actually be seated. Everything else was great.
Wonderful. Great service. Great food
