Beauty & Essex - Los Angeles
Book your next event with us
loud, and do not good, foods are salty and sour, but overall environment is pretty good.
Great food, great service and many spectacular rooms. Generous portions for Dine LA
Had reservations at 10:30 and we weren’t seated until 11:25 😫 other than that the food was fire and the service was okay!!
Loved the food and service. Everyone was super friendly.
We went with a group for wedding anniversary. I did feel that they could have done more to acknowledge the occasion.
The servers were great! Great food and ambience! I will definitely be back!
Food options are a bit limited but overall what we did order was good. Ambiance is fun and lively. Cocktail list is decent.
My friends from Chicago & SF loved it, as we did in NYC . Great location, too!
I was really amazed by the Beauty & Essex experience! Very minor critiques which did not prevent it from being Outstanding! I don't like the fact that the address is not where the entrance is. Made it a little embarrassing that we talked to the "back door". Not a fan bathroom attendants or the bathrooms only being on the 1st floor. Other than that, OUTSTANDING!
There are some distinct different feels from the garden to the bar/lounge to the downstairs dining room to the upstairs dining room. When you enter, you enter an eclectic shop. A little weird as you don't know if that's where you should check in & they try to sell you things, but kind of a speakeasy type vibe so kind of cool. The foyer and hostess stand is at the foot of a glorious staircase with an amazing chandelier & unique & elegant decor. I didn't get to check out the ladies bathroom but supposedly fantastic looking and they serve Rose wine for free after 8pm in the ladies bathroom.
Our server, Jordan was the perfect blend of great service, great food guide, & an enjoyable person to be around. Him & his team worked together seemlessly to give us a great experience. When they found out it was our first time, they treated us to an extra dish & there are some great options for celebrating birthdays. The hostess stand accommodated out requests and the food was delicious!
We had Oysters, Kale salad, some sort of tacos, and much much more! LOVED IT!
And we ordered a lot and much to my surprise the bill didn't break the bank like it could have!
Amazing customer service. Excellent quality of food. Would return and recommend again.
I feel it was a bit expensive, I could’ve went to Mastro’s for the price I paid. Overall the food was ok not excellent not gross but I don’t think I would go back. The broccoli Mac & cheese was good
Great for before or after Theater. Upstairs is a bit "heavy" and more intimate ambiance - prefer downstairs which is more open and airy. Food was very tasty and well-spiced. Server was friendly and made good recommendations.
Where do I start? From the moment you walk in the front door you feel like it’s going to be a special experience. Everyone is friendly and the restaurant is inviting. The service and the food, superb! I can’t wait to return.
INSANE! Great food, crazy decor and did the LA dine menu option which allowed us to try many different things! Would definitely come back.
We had a great time there with a big group. It’s good to know before hand though that even though the portions are large, they recommend you split each entree and appetizer with your group and it’s sort of like tapas style but not tiny portions. We went with a group of 7 and it was lovely! We’d never eaten like that before and really enjoyed it. And a super short walk to the Pantages.
Grilled cheese dumplings and Mexican corn ravioli are
INCREDIBLE! Amazing service as well.
THE food was outstandingly phenomenal. The service was very attentive to our needs and very great throughout our time there.
Great service and food
Great food. The lamb chops and tomato soup and grilled cheese were amazing. Be prepared for small portions. We were told the dishes are family style but each item feeds 2-3 people
I decided to take my partner to celebrate her birthday on a Saturday night. Our waiter Andrew was super informative and we were happy with his recommendations. We started off with the dumplings and shared the asparagus, potatoes and filet!!! We were not disappointed. My girlfriend raved about the filet(one of the best she’s had). The signature drinks were good but I would have liked less ice and more alcohol. We had the Devil’s Cake for desert and even though it was brought out with a candle, it wasn’t lit 🥺 (I really wanted her to blow the candle and make a wish)
All in all, it was a 4 out of 5 experience. We would definitely come back...very curious to try other items on the menu and maybe some other cocktails.
Had a great time. Fun walking through the little shop to get into the upscale room. Pricey, but a fun date night!
The food is ok however not filling if it’s two or more guests unless you purchase a full entree not worth the price for some of the meals
Have gone to The Vegas location over a dozen times always grade A on every level . Never a let down! Took a party with me for a birthday occasion to a LA location and sent the food back for being cold 2 times then had to the sides go back for being cold because waiting on main course by the time sides came back main course was done. We even had to send 2 of the meals back we do want it and they still brought it back the wrong way. We just eat it because we Felt like they just didn’t wanna take anything off the bill. The manager tried to make up for it by sending Dessert because it was a birthday. But it went so wrong so bad so many times I felt like something more should’ve been done especially after paying $1000 for a dinner bill and I still left a 20% tip because it’s not the money But the principle of it. I looked horrible and for other people I brought.
Great experience and excellent food. We would attend again when in Los Angeles.
We shared appetizers and main course. The kitchen gives enough portions for each person at your table, even if you have 3/4/5 which was perfect. My favorite was the Mexican corn ravioli, empanadas, tomato soup and dumpling. Drinks were really good, loved the berries and bubbly.
This was a cool - very LA restaurant. We went before an 8:00 show at the Pantages and were nervous that the service would be too slow causing us to be late to the show. I called to cancel our reservation, but they assured me that they would give the host and my service the note that we had a show to get to, and didn't make me feel bad about us being late to our reservation with traffic. We used the valet to park for the dinner and the show and actually made it back to our car before the 4 hours were up - so it was only $10 - a great value and very convenient. The restaurant was classy and nice - making for a special dinner before a show. We arrived at 7PM on a Wednesday so it was pretty empty, but they served us fast (as promised) and were attentive. The food was SO good. My sister and I split 3 small dishes - the empanadas, the shrimp, and the spicy chicken sliders. They were all so good and we were stuffed by the end. The food came out really quickly so that we had time to enjoy it and not rush to get to our 8PM show. It's a nice restaurant - but the prices are reasonable for the amazing food and experience you get. I think our bill was $100 for 3 small dishes and 2 cocktails. I would love to go back on a weekend night and stay for a few hours to really enjoy the whole restaurant for longer.
A fabulous experience and we’ll be back. The food was exactly as explained and nearly everything we ordered was very tasty. They treated our guests with pleasure and the food was beautifully presented. Bar, restaurant lovely design and booth seating perfect for our group. The shop at entrance was not to be missed! An one-of a kind experience. Fun and too service in all areas. Thank you we will definitely recommend it
Loved their food, and great ambiance. I had been here for drinks before but dinner is totally a different experience that I would definitely go back again pretty soon.
One of the nicest venues I’ve been to in LA. Staff was very friendly & accommodating. Definitely recommend it to anyone who hasn’t gone there yet.
Outstanding! Never a dull moment. Every time we’re there we all leave with great joy.
Jordan was excellent! The mood, energy and music is consistently good there.
Perfect for a fun night out. Drinks were on point and so was the food. I would argue this location is better than the one in Las Vegas. Food actually came out hot instead of luke warm warm like one in Vegas. Definitely going back!
The hostesses at the front desk were super nice and got out their way to make sure our experience from the door to the table was great . They were outstanding. I was really happy that they were there to greet us.
In contrast, at the table, the waiter was not very attentive nor friendly. He did not seem to care about providing good customer service nor taking care of the table. He seem to just want to get the food to the table and that was about it. Thus, the table service was less than average.
Trip to la
We will be returning to Beauty & Essex. Took my boyfriend here for a surprise birthday dinner and we were pleasantly surprised. Food was excellent and the place has a great ambiance. The lamb was cooked perfectly and the Poke Tacos were to die for. As far as service, Jonathan was very attentive and made sure everything was taken care of. We received a complimentary birthday dessert dish with an assortment of different items to try. After dinner, I asked what was upstairs and without asking we were taken upstairs to view the extra dining room and the terrace outside. After seeing upstairs we will probably book privately for a party! Can't forget the gentlemen in the front who greeted us then talked about music and zodiac signs while we were taking pictures. You guys truly made our night special! Thank you!
Great as always!
I can not tell you how yummy the food is. You really must experience it for yourself! Love the consignment shop.m and made a purchase. Ambiance, dining and shopping. What more could ask for?
Our server, Jordan, was SO kind and lovely. He made our meal such a wonderful experience, without being over bearing it too intrusive. He was knowledgeable and witty... we were so tired from a long, crazy day and his energy pepped us right up! The grilled cheese dumplings were awesome, as was my Mexican Street Corn Ravioli!!! Always assumed this place was too scene’y for me, especially on a Saturday, but we had a nice little table tucked away and were able to hear our conversation.
The manager was amazing and beyond accommodating for our special occasion. Everything - service, food, drinks were delicious.
