Perched on the JW Marriott's 27th floor, Beacon is Tampa's highest (and second highest in Florida) public rooftop cocktail and dining destination, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city skyline and the shimmering waterfront. Beacon's debut marks a momentous milestone for the luxurious property, which initially opened its doors in December 2020.

We always go to beacon for drinks before dinner. Their cocktails are pretty good, but their whiskey is overpriced. So, when we go here I always check the price of cool pours….but ultimately refrain. I wanted to try the “Prisoner’s Keep” from high west, but a 2oz pour was $52. We shared the Tarragon Bay, Forever Hold Your Peace and the “Among the Clouds”. The “Forever Hold Your Peace” was a bit bland….but we really enjoyed the other drinks. We will be back….great views and ambiance.

It is a lovely place and even better when you get an afternoon thunderstorm. The service tone and quality are lacking. Why demand a credit card after an order is taken and before service? I’m sitting at a table, you are waiting on me. It’s not a crazy packed bar with everyone moving around. You just told me you assume I’m a criminal. Oh wait. I know why. I actually could do a runner, given that gaps of 10 even 20 minutes went by when the server was nowhere to be seen in the bar and definitely not actually performing any act of service. Food was very good, if not exactly hot when served. Surely you aren’t using the main floor kitchen and bringing food up on a tray?

The place is very nice but too expensive for what it offers. It's not worth spending so much money with what this place offers. I definitely wouldn't go back.
