Excellent food and great service.
It was excellent. My wife’s steak was cooked perfectly, and the paella was one of the best things I have ever eaten! The special desert for our anniversary was a nice touch. 10/10
Excellent Service by Server, Lilikoi
& Wonderful Cobb Salad. Mahalo.
Atmosphere was great, sat outside which is mostly covered, although it does back up to an alleyway that was a little loud while a truck was making a delivery. Came here to try the famous charcoal pancakes and they did not disappoint! They look strange, but taste amazing with the guava puree and whipped cream on top.
Had a really great Father's day brunch. The food was of great quality and the prices were very much affordable. $29 for the prime rib and eggs for brunch. Can't go wrong with that! My dad LOVED it!
Basalt was great! Enjoyed the food and ambiance. Family friendly!
Sat outside, huge noise coming from nearby buildings. Food was OK, loved the charcoal pancake.
Came for early Father’s Day breakfast. Ordered coffee, lilikoi mimosa, charcoal pancakes, pork belly fried rice and the eggs benedict. Food was pretty good, what I would expect for the price. Charcoal pancakes, was nothing special, it was regular pancakes with guava syrup. Service wise, it was okay. My mimosa took forever to come, I was done with my first cup of coffee before it arrived. Food didn’t take too long to arrive, but again nothing special, nothing I would want to come back for. I also wanted some tapatio or Tabasco for my fried rice, but no one came to check on the table and it took 15-20 before I could find someone to ask. Mind you they were somewhat busy, but I did see our server and others talking to each other socially on the side and checking their phones. Nothing wrong with that, but check on your tables first.
I was there a little early before my reservation and was able to be seated earlier. My entire party's breakfast was excellent. Every entree was hot and favorable. I will return for sure.
Average food across the board.
Amazing experience. Highly recommended. Rod and his team are awesome. Can't wait to go back for dinner again..
Amazing and consistent every single time.
The food and the presentation were outstanding!!!
Just ok - took long periods of time to get beverages and refills. Food came quickly was good but didn’t wow us. Like most restaurants we’ve visited, Basalt seems to be suffering from staff shortage.
We thought it was strange that we were charged for the small slice of birthday cake brought out for my son (without being told ahead about the charge). Who does that???
Was staying next door at the Beachcomber
Food was amazing and the service was equally as good. Our server Garrett made sure we had everything we needed. This is a must stop in Oahu
We came here for our 10 year anniversary brunch! This was our first time here & the service and wood was delicious and amazing! We will be back soon! Thank you for being part of our special day & gifting us an anniversary dessert!
It was great!! Had a great birthday brunch. Thank you!
The food was amazing and server John was on point! We definitely will be back🤙🤙
The seating/reservation situation was a bit chaotic as they transitioned from the end of happy hour to starting dinner service. Once seated outside, we immediately noticed the high level of noise from the trucks and buses parked in the alley and they AC unit from the hotel next door. Otherwise seating was okay, tables were far apart. The waiter was on and off attentive. The food was very good and had I interesting twists like the crunchy quinoa on the shrimp. The miso cod really was excellent and the broth was good enough to drink. Disappointing the white rice with it was not Japanese rice but dry, Chinese restaurant style rice. The wine selection was decent but glasses pricy so suggest getting a bottle of you plan to have more than one.
A delightful experience. HUGE bar area and situated next to a bakery, gelato and convenience store so that you can pick up anything you might need for your hotel room. The rock cod in miso sauce was absolutely perfect, buttery and cooked to perfection. My prime rib was also very good. The activated charcoal dinner rolls look a little scary, but were delicious. They have probably 10-12 beers on draught, which is also a nice plus.
Service and food were great!!!
Food is mediocre at best, prepared with little imagination
Waikiki is experiencing a wave of tourists and restaurants are having trouble meet the demand with the COVID restrictions.
Prepare to wait
Prime Rib was delectable and so was the cheesecake. I would highly recommend.
Our server was super nice!
Trip to Hawaii
Food is not bad but service is not good. In fairness our waiter seemed to be the only one working.
Great food and service!
Outstanding and creative menu with high quality ingredients. Our party of 4 all had something different and all of us agreed it was the best dinner we had in Honolulu. We would have hone back had it not been our last night in town.
The food delicious but could not make up for terrible service. It was very unclear if it was the bar or the server who was super slow. We were waiting 20min for a drink…every time.
They did comp a drink but it just couldn’t make up for the terrible service. We had an early dinner hoping to catch some sunlight on the beach after but the slowness didn’t allow it. I hope they are able to turn it around because the food was VERY good!
Went for breakfast and the food was delicious and well prepared. The service was ok. Our server was friendly but forgot three items of our order. The restaurant was spacious and efficient.
I had the avocado toast and s POG mimosa and both were delicious!
Several vegetarian options. Quality of food was remarkable. The toasted quinoa shrimp appetizer is highly recommended. Great wine selection and the wait staff was outstanding.
Great food, service and value!
Get the charcoal pancakes! Amazing!!!
It was fine but perhaps my expectations were too high given what I’ve been told about the restaurant.
Overall my best meal in Honolulu. Had the macadamia nut crusted mahi with asparagus on garlic mashed potatoes. It was so good I could have licked the plate clean (don’t judge). Service was super friendly too. Will absolutely be back.
Great meal. Great service. Extensive wine list . Loved the miso cod and ahi tuna. Creme brûlée was delicious
