Food was top notch - highlights for us miso cod , delicate and tasty , NY strip not usually a cut we’d go for but it was tender and tasty , coconut cake was perfect , nice attentive wait staff - really nice time
Delicious! Loved the charcoal pancakes and eggs Benedict. The Bloody Mary was nice and spicy.
Very over priced for the portions but still good tasting food. My server was great and attentive but still probably wouldn’t be enough to bring me back.
Had another good time with great food and service. Appetizers were all tasty and entrees delicious. Miso Cod is a staple and tried the pork chops which were a nice change. The appetizers came out quickly and the main courses were right behind them so very little waiting for the food. Our server (Max) was attentive and always checking to see if we needed anything.
All in all another excellent dinner and we will continue to come everytime we are in Hawaii.!
Went here for a coveted date night with my husband; with few opportunities to get away from the kids the stakes were high for this place to be good! We were not disappointed! Everything we ordered was superb - extremely flavorful and the portions were just right, and the service was perfect. Even though it’s kind of in a weird location in a market/alleyway, I would definitely recommend for a nice dinner out!
Food was excellent. Server was nice but seemed a little stretched. Didn’t get a water refill until after we were finished with our meal. Noted in Open Table that we were celebrating my birthday and the server asked about it and brought out a piece of cake. Nice touch.
Decent food rushed Uninviting atmosphere not a place for a nice dinner staff was clanking and clearing and trying to close before entrees even served
Always excellent service and delicious entrée.
The French toast was good. The pancakes were different. I mean being ‘charcoal’ pancakes it’s obviously going to be different, but flavor wise I can’t come up with another word to describe other than different. I had the avocado toast which was good, I give that a 4 out of 5. When our kids were ordering, the way the server was asking about sides or if they wanted any meat made it seem like it came with their meals which it doesn’t. My son is super picky and he didn’t like any of it. The fruit platter was really good though!
For those considering this a foodie destination, you may be half pleased. Foodie is quality ingredients, presentation, ambiance, and service. Basalt only has the first two. It's in the Centric food court behind a partition. The service was slow because there was only one server for 15 tables; he was very friendly and attentive. The bathroom situation is very depressing. I would say avoid this place unless you want to spend twice as much at another finer establishment, or come and just enjoy the food for a reasonable price.
Russell is a great waiter. Highly recommend reserving in his area. I like their charcoal pancakes, worth the visit.
Great place to eat. Great service. I recommend this place to everyone.
Food was great. Although once we got our food, our server did not tend to us for about 30 minutes. Had to call over another server to order more food.
Very good service & great food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Perfect casual to fine dining experience.
Food was excellent & our waiter was very nice.
Great food, great service. Good amount of wind coming from the building set up.
Amazing miso butterfish & NY steak!!
We enjoyed how nice everyone was. The service and food
The place is awesome!! We went to it for brunch and loved it soo much we returned to dinner that night!!! Avocado toast and Mai Thai are the best. Service is also amazing. Believe we had Russell for brunch and Garret for dinner. Both were excellent!!! Great food and great value. Best food we had in Wakiki.
Our waiter Russel was incredible from making the first night of honeymoon special, to airdropping us recommendations for things to do while we are here, we are so thankful we were at his table.
The food and service were top notch! I would highly recommend this place.
Really good food, great service. Recommend
Wonderful last night dinner in Waikiki! Thank you!
It was great! Fun experience in Hawaii! The steak was really good, wasn't a fan of the yams. The alcoholic drinks were amazing and the cheesecake was 10/10!
Server Max was incredible. Food was outstanding. Very cool atmosphere.
This was one of my top three dining experiences in my life, with the top being Emeril Lagasse’s restaurant. Exquisite food, great location, and the service is was top notch! Thank you for making our trip special!
Great food and service! Loved the charcoal buttermilk pancakes!
It was a frustrating experience. We were seated right away and we were brought water, and then I think they forgot about us. A waiter who I think had a different section noticed us and asked if we had been helped yet. She took our drink order and was very courteous. We got rolls and butter and had to ask for napkins and silverware. My husband ordered the prime rib and was told 10 minutes later they were out. The food really was good, but it was an awkward service experience. I recognize a lot of places are short staffed right now, but it didn’t seem to be a staffing issue. We won’t be coming back.
The food was amazing!
I have eaten here few times and food was great every time.
Last night I had seafood Paella and it was great!
My friend and I had a very enjoyable meal at Basalt. Every dish we ordered was delicious. Highly recommend the crispy quinoa shrimp and the seafood paella. Cocktails were also fantastic. We are outside and it was lovely.
This restaurant has received rave reviews, so we went. If you are looking for a nice restaurant with good ambience, this isn't it. It is part of an ABC store and you enter walking thru a maze of take out food outlets. That did it right there!
If you still want to try Basalt, eating outside would be your best bet.
The food was all excellent. We enjoyed the bisque, salad, prime rib, and creme brûlée. Highly recommend!
We absolutely love the Charcoal Pancakes. Every time we visit Waikiki we go to Basalts once or twice for breakfast. Make reservations!
We were seated promptly and enjoyed excellent service by our waitress and her assistants. Food was amazing. I had the spicy Kampachi poke which was delicious and the miso cod perfectly prepared and cooked to perfection. Finished my meal off with the passion fruit creme brûlée which was to die for! Sat outside and although it drizzled a bit the nite was perfect
I love Basalt. It's a cute little eatery in Duke's. I recommend the charcoal pancakes and any of the egg benedicts.
Great experience for our 19th anniversary
One of my favorite places to visit coming to Waikiki
