Basalt Restaurant @ Dukes Lane Market and Eatery
BASALT is a Waikiki restaurant that embraces our local Island culture. We salute our life-long heritage of multiculturalism. And yet, we love to introduce unique ways to look at local cuisine by introducing International flavors and unusual pairings to intrigue and delight our guests.
BASALT’s aim is to involve you, excite you, and captivate you. Our Asian-influenced Global cuisine will consistently remind you of why the Hawaiian Islands are a special place of Aloha… to be, experience, and love.
Very good food, nice friendly service especially the manager. Definitely will return.
Food was good and win was fresh
Brunch gathering for friends and family; beautiful day to enjoy good food. Waiter was attentive and accommodating.
Service great, food good! Think lighting could have been less bright for a better dining experience.
Went here to celebrate Valentines Day. Glad we did! Service and food were excellent. We went with the Prix Fixe dinner menu, and at 48 per person was a steal. The ny steak and desserts were excellent. Will definitely recommend this to family and friends, and will definitely be back.
Food was good overall. Good lobster bisque. Great mixed green salad. Wife's prime rib was very tasty. But my macadamia nut crusted Mahimahi was bland because the sauce and capers didn't add much to the normally bland flavor of the Mahi. But it was cooked perfectly and the starch and veggies were excellent. Oh, I really liked the carbon black bread rolls. In fact, my other complaint was that the server did not bring more bread rolls as he said that he would.
But I would definitely go back for another dinner. The prices were reasonable for a fine dining restaurant in Waikiki. Service was good (except for my bread rolls), and the live music was a plus.
Staff are friendly. We had a great time. Loved tender beaf and crunchy shrimp.
Food is excellent and service is good. Outside seating is not always relaxing as there is a lane right next where delivery trucks pass by.
The restaurant has a nice selection of choices but there were 3 in our party and all three meals were bland and tasteless. Things like salt and sweetener had to be requested multiple times.
This is not a restaurant that I would recommend or return to
Love their dinner and happy hour and wanted to try breakfast. One of my fav spot to dine for any occasion!
Server was not listening our order and not checking us. Not good service
Love the live music
Great food, great service, pricey, but standard for Honolulu
We had great service and great food. The items are both creative and tasty. We will go again!
The food was great, me and my friends really enjoyed our dishes! This restaurant is underrated, everytime I've been there I had a good experience.
Very good as usual!
Always great. Celebrated a Birthday this time. Cake simply delicious!
The restaurant is in an area with a group of retail food eateries like a bakery, gelato, rotisserie chicken/pizza. It’s a little confusing of a configuration. The wait at the host stand was somewhat long.
I love dining here for brunch & dinner. The food is always delicious, the cocktails refreshing, the coffee is smooth, and the staff is friendly. But more importantly, I think, is the atmosphere. It is open and welcoming. Basalt is a lovely oasis from a harried day that allows you to breathe for a moment and just be you.
Very nice restaurant
First time dining, casual but nice ambiance with live music. Little bit on the salty side on some of the dishes, but overall I will definitely come back and will also recommend. I loved the cocktails as well!
Delicious! Highly recommended.
Colton was fantastic. Food was beautifully presented and delicious!
Great find in Waikiki! Good food, casual ambiance and not too noisy to hear each other talk.
We really enjoyed this restaurant. I always have the miso butterfish, And they have a wonderful wine menu.
Great place, live music and great food.
As two women we were seated by the kitchen door. When we protested we were the seated outside with the smell of pot and garbage. 5 minutes later two men we seated indoors (as we requested) at a nice table. We had reservations. We decided to leave with eating dinner. I was not going to purchase overpriced food from this place.
I've been to Basalt many times for Happy Hour, this time I brought 2 visitors from CA and 2 from Singapore - a very mixed group and we were all pleased with our service, food and drinks.
Food was amazing, services was amazing (Russell was awesome) atmosphere was great. Will continue to recommend!!
Always great. They serve breakfast until 230p for those of us not on the same time zone/schedule!
Great view of Waikiki Beach, Pacific Ocean and Diamond Head if you are seated outside. Varied menu selections with local foods and old favorites. Tasty non-alcoholic beverages are available. They are always busy so go for lunch and prices are a bit more affordable.
Great food as always. Celebrated running the Honolulu Marathon with 15% off meal offered by Basalt. Had the mixed seafood grill and lobster soup.
Great post marathon lunch! Service was prompt and warm, food was delicious and we’ll priced.
Did not expect this hidden treasure. The food and service was amazing! Ate here before the marathon and couldn’t have been more pleased!
Outside on the Covered Lanai is way too noisy for conversation due to service alley proximity. Service was adequate, food was ok, but too heavily sauced. Staff needs better training on how to present.cheese and charcuterie plates. Ambiance was heavily influenced by noise, but modern and clean.
We chose Basalt because they were having live music that night. The music was good, atmosphere pleasant and the food very tasty.
Our experiences with the server and hostess were professional however the food was terrible. I ordered a seafood medley that included lobster, Kauai prawn and mahi mahi. The lobster and prawn were completely uncooked; one could not remove them from the shell properly. The lobster tasted as if it had been soaked in chlorine bleach (maybe it was before freezing). We also ordered the rib eye “medium rare” and it cam entirely red and bloody. To my understanding medium rare is seared brown outside 3-4 minutes each side with a 50% red center. After sending it back it returned still entirely pink and bloody. By this time the rest of the group were eating and sending back once should be enough.
It appeared that management didn’t want to pay for a kitchen team that both knew what they were doing or cared to check plates before serving. Not to mention quality issues with the shellfish. The restaurant was not busy so that was not the reason for haste and poor judgement.
This was a special occasion family celebration that was marred by an awful meal at an expensive establishment.
The service was excellent, the food was delicious, they had live acoustic music playing. All in in a nice place to take a date.
Foods were attractive and characteristic. Also not too salty. Serving was kindfull. Also live music was good.
Always great. Love their charcoal pancakes! Highly recommended.
