Awesome food and great atmosphere. We went in for taco Tuesday and can't wait to go back for the boar tacos. I would take friends in from out of town just for those!
Food was pretty good! We had a great steak that was cooked to perfection, and great desserts. The only knock we had on this place was the baked potato I received was ice cold. My wife received a warm one, so not sure if they forgot to cook mine?
Restaurant week at Barbed Wire Reef was great. Lovely service, awesome menu, great value. Food was delicious. Saw some of their take out dishes going out which looked equally delicious. Will definitely be back!
We visited during restaurant week. I have to say we were a bit disappointed. The soups were delicious, the ahi tuna taco was amazing, however, the main meals, the buffalo steak and salmon were average. It's a cute local meeting place but not really a date night place or romantic dining experience. The service was exceptional.
Went for restraunt week. Soup was great. Entree was mediocre. Dessert was fantastic. Great service.
Definitely not following covid guidelines with distancing and when we asked to sit outside with our servers pulling masks away and down to talk. Cold and mediocre food for my friends, mine was fine but the churros were fire

Amazing food and incredible service. Tacos are soooo delicious. Every time we go, the service is warm and welcoming. It's not to be missed!!
Our wait staff was great. My husband received the wrong order and was willing to eat it. However, she packaged up the right order for us to take home for no charge.
What shocked us was the price of wine. I ordered chardonnay and wasn't given a choice. It was delicious but cost $14 a glass! I expect that in a fancy restaurant but Barbed Wire is a bar. Our total bill was over $80 (including tip) for two beers, two glasses of wine, a sandwich with fries, an appetizer, and an order of fancy fries. We won't be returning when we can go to a bar for dinner with wine costing less than $9 ... in some places a lot less.
Also, the week before we had a reservation, which was cancelled the afternoon of that night. It would have been nice to have some notice. Apparently, a wedding party booked the restaurant, which we would have understood with more notice and maybe an offer of a free drink or something for our inconvenience.
Poor service
It was my boyfriends birthday so we came here for a couple drinks and some tacos it was a blast! The food and cocktails are always on point!
Great staff
, very good food and atmosphere was excellent.
Had the meal that offered all sausages, it was amazing. Liked the rattlesnake the best. I don't get to that area often, but I would definitely go back.
The patties were either extremely underseasoned or not seasoned at all. Their flavor combinations were not particularly good either, in my opinion. Furthermore, the appetizer we ordered, poppers, were verging on undercooked. On top of that, I would say it was on the expensive side for the type of food. I wouldn't have had an issue with the price had their fundamentals been solid.
The kale salad and truffle fries were tasty.
Great nachos! Highly recommend with the Boars meat. The octopus taco has amazing flavor and ingredients.
Got the sausage trio: elk, venison and boar I believe. I think my favorite was boar. Also got the crab cake which were delicious
Had a reservation for a regular table. They sat us at a hightop. I told them we had a reservation but they didn't seem to care to check for it.
Food was good!
Our first night out since Cov19 and a new restaurant and bar. Reservations very easy to make with reminders of day and time. Wide open space plenty of S.D. so no mask but all service people masks, gloves. Fun menu with a little bit of everything. Waiter’s were very nice and made us feel right at home. Thanks for a nice night we will be back
Great food! Interesting menu with fun options. Pricey drinks and small wine list. We did not get a beer list so I am not sure on those options.
Would come again for a causal burger dinner.
Service was great and the restaurant was nice, but everything I ordered was terrible.
Terrible service. Weak drinks. Food not cooked to order. We ordered medium rare burgers and they came well done. We didn't get our appetizers or drinks until after our entrees. The waiter kept making excuses and never apologizing for the bad service. I will never go back.
Showed up for a 630 reservation. We were given a seat immediatly. We set at our table while 2 tables next to us paid out their tabs, neither server greeted us. We picked out a 3 course meal, researched the wine list, went to the restroom, totalling easily 15 minutes. We we're never brought water or given any attention by a server. When leaving the hostest didnt even ask us why we were leaving so soon. The air was nice though. Won't ever be finding out how the food is
The food was good. Service was good as well. The host was a little full of it though. The restaurant was mostly empty when we went but she said that reservations were recommended since it was restaurant week. They had 2 tables in there! It's like they were trying to be exclusive. It was a little off putting. But definitely go there for the food. It was really good. Just be aware of some pretentiousness.
Fun menu with great drinks to boot! Never would’ve stopped in if it wasn’t for Denver Restaurant week, but boy am I glad I did!
Interesting menu items on the Denver Restaurant week menu. I think most customers were sampling the special menu.
It was just okay. We were excited to try the food here but the experience was a bust. We arrived around 8:45 and felt very rushed by staff. They even took out the mop around 9:30 while we were still eating. The food and drinks themselves were alright, but nothing special. Sad this place didn't have more of a lasting impression.
We came here for Denver Restaurant Week and it was amazing! The food was incredible and the service was great. We will definitely be back.
Poor service. Didn’t get a waitress for a while. Gave us the wrong appetizer. Not to mention we got our drinks, appetizer, and entree all at once instead of one by one. And then the food was very subpar. Would not recommend to people.
Valentine Special (4 course meal) was SPECIAL!! for a sports bar. Food was great.
There's plenty of room for improvement here so I'll give them one more try
Service was good, food was good. Meat from exotic animals was done well. Will be going back.
Food is good if you expect their truck. Just was expecting slightly more unfortunately. Would go back for a quick burger though.
I had been wanting to try this place for a while. Why did I wait so long? The food was so delicious. The service was great. We were celebrating my birthday and had indicated that when I made the reservation. We were treated to a special dessert with a candle! I’ve been telling everyone to go try this place.
We had the black & blue burger, the deervastator burger, and the piggy fries. All were very good. My only suggestion would be they could step up their pickle game. Theirs needed to be pickled longer and werejust kinda blah. ( We really love pickles.)
Striving to be mediocre
We had a party of 15 for my husbands 30th birthday and were very impressed with both the food and the service! We will definitely be going back.
Great food and service. Saw the food truck at the CC Arts Festival this year, but had just eaten elsewhere and wasn't able to try it despite being impressed by the various game meat on the menu. Saw that it has a restaurant location and so we gave it a try. We weren't disappointed and the staff is super friendly and eager to please. Definitely recommend, especially if you like or want to try various types of game burgers or sausage.
Pearl of Denver. Great little niche place to eat. Great for a large group.
The Piggy Fries were yummy and the Elk and Buffalo burgers were tasty. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable.
Amazing service great recommendations from the bartender!!! Tuna is amazing! The beer next door is the best as well.
Amazing service, great ambiance, and incredible food! We were here for a birthday and had a large group that ordered all sorts of different menu items. There wasn’t a single thing I wouldn’t order again, all fresh and flavorful and delicious!
