   We had a wonderful meal, great service and the only disappointment was the table outside on a 100 degree day. It was my mistake but outside was the only tables offered when i made the reservation. Wa asked about inside tables but there were none available. We had a great and would return to sit on the inside.

    I am very impressed by the staff at Bar Cecil. I enjoyed the ambiance and the retro museum vibe of the restaurant. I enjoyed the mussels, trout and the halibut. My date had the delicious steak frites. We also chowed down on the chocolate chip cookies. Do not miss out on dinning at this gem!

    Hosted my spouse for a birthday dinner at Bar Cecil after hearing positive comments from friends. Sorely disappointed. After waiting a month to make the reservation, I found on the first morning that dates were released, that the only time slot was their last one: 8:15pm. When the “kitchen closes at 9pm”. How can an entire restaurant book within 5 minutes after dates were released? Worse than an Adele concert! Food was OK. Menu quite limited in choices. Prices were astronomical. Absolutely everything was an extra charge (bread, veggies, maybe even the air???) Despite discussing the al la carte portion sizes with our waitperson when ordering, we were upsold waaaay too many dishes and ended up taking home more than we consumed. We ate rather quickly instead of leisurely, as the music noise level was ramping up to rave party levels, even outside on their patio section. By the time the meal was ending, the house music shifted to abrasive rap, with the person trying to sing actually SCREAMING the F word repeatedly. Over a dozen times, once I started counting. So loud we had to stop talking (or rather screaming) and just sit, staring at one another. We complained to our waitperson and asked to speak with the manager. The manger eventually arrived at our table and simply stated he “hoped we would give them another chance”. After spending well over $300, and waiting a month to book the evening, for a special occasion, which was then made a disaster due to the inability to even scream over the screaming music. Another chance? Unlikely. The music volume increase and song / style selection were very intentional. Not accidental. The outcome certainly should not have been a surprise. They succeeded in chasing out all of the remaining customers. Most likely for good. What a way to chase people out near closing time when you were the ones offering the “late” (8:15pm) seating time.

    Food is great and great vibe overall. Only call out is votive LED candles + unfortunate amenities in the restrooms, doesn’t feel luxe with these details missing. Also booth seating needs to be reworked, they’re quite upright and close to the booth.

    Food was above average, not out of this world. Pork chop was perfectly cooked, had some flavor, not lots of flavor. I was not a fan of the au gratin. It lacked cheese and taste was flat. Onion tart was creative and taste was just ok. If you want well cooked simple recipes, this is the place.
