What Insiders Are Saying
Baltaire is the only steakhouse in Brentwood, so naturally it's filled with studio execs throwing down their corporate cards.
We had the 48 oz. Tomahawk steak that was excellent. The scallops were some of the best I have ever had.
Went to Beltaire to celebrate our 25th anniversary on a Wednesday evening. We were seated immediately. We thought the restaurant was very pretty. Modern and upscale and both their indoor and outdoor seating areas were attractive. The service was top notch from start to finish. Our waitress, Sarah, took great care of us. I had noted in our reservation that I had a shellfish allergy and she brought it up early on and assured me she would make sure my food was safe for me. I so appreciate when restaurants do that as it allows me to relax and fully enjoy my experience without worrying about cross contamination or hidden ingredients. Delicious warm bread w/butter was placed on the table and refilled. I had a Greek salad which was made table-side which was very good (and fairly big), but just a little heavy on the dressing for me. My husband had the wedge salad. He initially was a little upset that he thought he had ordered it with a vinegarette and it arrived with a ranch dressing instead. The server that brought the salad noticed his look of disappointment and immediately offered to replace it. My husband said it’s fine, he would have it as is and within about a minute the manager came over to apologize and again offered to make it right. My husband again said he would have the salad as it was and he said it was actually the best wedge salad he’s ever had. We were both very impressed with the level of concern/customer service from the wait staff and manager. We both had the short ribs which were soft and flavorful and sitting on a bed of delicious farrow...we both loved our meal. My son ordered a filet mignon and said it was so soft and had great flavor. We were so full after dinner that we passed on dessert, but then Sarah brought us a dessert on the house with a candle in it since she knew we were celebrating our anniversary. It was a delicious chocolate and butterscotch cream pot. Great dinner/experience all around and we look forward to dining there again.
Exceptional Steaks at exceptionally high prices. I guess if you can afford it, then you should enjoy it.
overpriced and mediocre for price with inattentive service
Friends visiting from out of town
Great for lunch. Nice ambiance. I had the avocado/smoked salmon toast to fulfill my die requirements and it was great. My friend had the Greek salad that is prepared table side. Everyone enjoyed their lunch.
I’m sorry but this place is ridiculous. Not worth the price, service, or ambiance. This isn’t the Brentwood I grew up in. Neighborhood feeling is gone!
I am a regular customer and go frequently to Baltaire. This restaurant is actually one of my favorite places. They did not just drop the ball they kicked it out of reach...
They forgot items, brought food late and cold.
The food was not he same, even though they insisted that its was. I have ordered the same salad a dozen times( NOT THE SAME) and brought out food late and wrong. had sauce all over it, and did not apologize, and insisted we take the food that we asked to no longer bring because everyone had already finished their sub par Father's Day brunch. NOT to mention, 1 dirty spoon, a cup that was never returned so I should never have coffee again, no cream or sugar unless asked for, and when we originally complained, the wait staff instead of being apologetic offered us some else food that still had the sauce on it and proceeded to hover. The eggs Benedict were taken off the menu, and that was it.
The place is very nicely done and the seating is very comfortable but its very loud and if you go on a busy night, forget about it, on top of that they had a jazz band playing which wasn't necessary and also made it too hard to speak to the people in your party.
The food was good but not worth the money you pay and the service was very slow. Don't know if i would go back, better steak houses out there.
Very good.. I liked the entertainment... Stevens Quartet...
Great way to celebrate our birthdays
Our server Reno was excellent!
All the food is delicious, but the entrees, particularly the steaks are very expensive!
The food and service were outstanding. None of us are big meat eaters, but there were plenty of seafood and other options. Both the Scallop and Octopus appetizers were delicious. We will return. Do go early if you want quiet conversation as this restaurant is very popular.
The bar is lovely so a great place for drinks. Inside is noisy and the ambience leaves me cold, with the exception of their outdoor patio space which is very nice.
Loved this place! Some family was visiting from Europe and wanted to try a steakhouse. This place was perfect, the meat (had the taster trio) was perfect and so was the sides. It's not cheap, but quality rarely is
This place doesn’t get it, that is , what good service and communition is. When checking in, I asked the host if they were willing to write congratulations on a dessert for my daughter. His reply was “We’ll give a free dessert.” I shared what I wanted was the word Congratulations written in the dessert-somewhere, that I don’t need a free dessert. He said he would. When leaving, I shared my disappointment it wasn’t done. He said “I’ll reprimand the person that said that to you. In all the years here, I’ve never seen that done.” I told him he said it to me, one hour ago, upon my arrival. He said “I’ll reprimand myself then. Did we give you a free dessert?” I said no, they didn’t do that either which misses the whole point. We left, 3 minutes later he ran out with a $100 gift card. A gift card isn’t going to make it right. The opportunity for Baltaire to help me celebrate my daughter, just a little, was gone. It was unplanned, my daughter has no idea, the food was good. However, for the price, I say go celebrate somewhere else. There are plenty that do it better.
While very expensive, Baltaire makes up for it with extremely attentive and friendly service from the wait staff and very good steak. The side dishes and appetizers may not quite live up to the main courses. Generally a great spot for a special occasion or when money is no object.
Service was a bit slow, resturant was too dark and very hard to read menu especially for a large party trying to celebrate a birthday.
Very noisy . Hard to talk and hear each other. Food and I interior above average. Waiter tried his best but seemed a bit frazzled. Got free dessert to sweeten the night but had to go out afterwards to actually catch up since the restaurant was SO noisy. Like a movie with a great trailer but the main feature is only so so even though it had a all star cast.
We went to Baltaire for my daughter’s graduation lunch and it was a wonderful experience! Our waitress Marianne was efficient, friendly and attentive. It was very important to us to have a memorable experience to remember forever and it was just that!! Highly recommend!!
The restaurant was very nice, the service from the first greeting till we left was outstanding. We sat at the table and talked for a while and no one sad anything to us. Very cordial.
Birthday lunch was perfect. Had the King Crab Louie and a Blackberry Lemonade.
Lots of delicious crab and perfectly sliced ripe avocado and tomato with a delicate tarragon thousand island dressing.
I the iceberg lettuce was cold and crisp and it had a lovely onion ring as a garnish. I did not care for their chocolate bread pudding which had a heavy coffee flavor and was somehow dry even with gelato and crepe anglaise. Would not order again.
Service by Alfredo was great. Lovely venue. Good for special occasion lunch.
Great night! They took excellent care of our special graduation dinner for our daughters.
Kudos on figuring out seating when we added an extra guest at the last minute. Its great when a restaurant figures out how to accommodate your party instead of making you feel like you are a problem, which happens a lot at some higher end places.
Thanks Frank in particular for your help.
Great potential, but still needs some work.
Had a wonderful time as we always do at Baltaire
August at the bar is amazing
Quentin at our table is always on point, a joy to be around and up for some banter we love spending the evening with him by our side
Of course the food is superb
Definitely a pricy spot but you get what you pay for! The service was impeccable and the food was absolutely delicious.
Excellent food and service. Noise level was off the scale. At the first table we were screaming in order to hear each other and asked to be moved which the restaurant to their credit accommodated. The noise level was slightly lower but still very high which definitely put a damper on the rest of the excellent qualities of the restaurant. The irony is that we just came back from NYC which is known for loud restaurants. They have nothing on Baltaire.
This is a "local" restaurant for us, but had never been there. Great service, great wine list, lively atmosphere, but we had a choice of seating and were away from the bar and live music. Able to have a conversation without shouting. Food choices were considerable and varied. Generally pricey, but seems to be good value for the price. Loved the decor. Due to price, we will save for another special occasion, but definitely worth going back.
The menu is good, with lots of choice on weekdays, but less on weekend brunch. The space is lovely and open. The service is good and the manager really pays attention to what is going on, making sure that clients are being satisfied. The food starts with excellent ingredients (including one of LA's best hamburgers) and continues with excellent preparation. You can find a restaurant that's less expensive, but the cost has gone into food, service, and ambience.
Our waitress Jessica was fantastic!!!!
Baltaire is a phenominal restaurant.
The service is outstanding, the food beyond compare and the atmosphere classy and comfortable.
This is my favorite restaurant in Brentwood.
Treat yourself and give it a try.
Really excellent restaurant. Beautiful location and décor. The food is outstanding, and the service is also very good. In a place like this, you always worry that the service will be stuffy, and that if you're not an A-list celebrity, you'll be taken for granted, but that was not the case. We were treated very well. I would go back anytime.
We always have great food and top of the line service at Baltair. We like it for lunch with friends.
Always reliable and lovely
One of the best spots in Brentwood. Great for business meals. Maryann, our server, was outstanding.
Excellent evening we had a great and hilarious server excellent service definitely recommend.
Underwhelming food and service
Amazing quality steaks, but given the prices, vegetables should be included.
