Gift from our daughter and her boyfriend. Everything was very nice. Prices were a little steep and our waiter messed up on a port I requested after my Meal. He then proceeded to only take a portion of our gift card from our daughter off the bill. When we mentioned it to him, he fixed it, but on two occasions he screwed up. Kinda spoiled the ending part of our experience.
I think this is the best steak house in all of Los Angeles. Everything about this place is great, easy to get to, atmosphere is electric, great bar scene, service is excellent and the steaks are incredible!!!
Crazy cold after 5pm, grumpy faces (except waiter), too loud, food that I would pay just not too eat it.
Found out for myself that high price doesn't equal good time spent.
Jonas is fantastic
Ive been a few times but this last time was very disappointing aside from the service and ambience. Oysters were the tiniest Ive eve had and not good value. good vinaigrette tho. Steak TARTAR had so much hot chilli in it, that I could not eat it. Who puts masses of chilli into a delicate French steak tartar without at least letting the client know. Server kindly got me another one in prompt time, but as it was rushed, the steak pieces were too huge to eat and not delicately cut as it should be. Side orders were excellent. Tho I haven't tried the steak the prices seem priced way too high but probably right for Los Angeles. Still way over the top in my opinion. Server did her best to make everything okay, so I tipped her well. Most of all I like the entertainment on Friday and Saturday Evenings. Excellent Jazz artists. I will still give it a chance and go again.
High marks, all around. The food and service was exemplary.
40oz porterhouse steak was heavily burnt on one side making the it impossible to eat (and you expect a $180 steak to be perfect). The kitchen manager showed up, apologized and removed it from the check.
Baltaire was an amazing place up until couple years ago. The grand piano, amazing music and great food. Everything changed once they removed the piano and the most amazing part of this restaurant, the jazz music, turned to be almost always horrible.
Steak came charred and nasty and he tells me oh that's how we do it! No the menu would have said charred steak!
Elevated pricing for a mid-range experience.
Amazing as always.
Food is always good. Very consistent. Our waiter was outstanding. A fairly new hire and excellent in all respects.
Always good! Because the food is always good and I think the steaks are better than Mastros.
This was an interesting experience that, reflecting on it the day after, will be my first and last experience with Baltaire. My boyfriend and I came here for our anniversary dinner, and neither of us had been before. Our reservation was at 8:30 on Saturday night, which I had read was “the place to be” on Saturday night for great dinner and ambience. Upon walking in, the bar and front desk are visible, and while it’s a beautiful and classic environment, there was some club music playing rather loudly. We requested a wine list 3 times before receiving one. Once we were ready to order, wine, appetizers and our main dishes were all ordered at the same time, but it was an hour or more into service by the time we were receiving our entrees. We ordered the roasted mushrooms and the lobster cocktail for apps. The lobster app was small, with about a bite of lobster meat for each of us for $22, and the mushrooms were fantastic, although we saved them for the steaks. I got the filet tasting, 3 differently dressed filet mignon cuts, and my bf got the Dry aged Kansas City strip. The meat was beautifully cooked, although the tasting seemed a bit odd since the meat was so good, it didnt need the toppings that came with each filet at all, a beautiful cut of beef just needs maybe some salt and pepper. After dinner, we ordered dessert, and the waiter threw in an extra dessert for free, which was again odd, bc he never asked if we were here for an occasion. We had already ordered a dessert, so instead of throwing it in for the occasion, he just gave us a 2nd dessert after we ordered one already. The bar was the best part, sitting down after dinner and ordering an old fashioned was fast, well priced, and delightful. Overall, very overpriced for the food and experience you get, I’d recommend BOA before Baltaire for the experience and service received, as it was about the same, but for 3x the price.
Wonderful evening- great steaks & sides- good wine
Great menu, service, vibe and ambiance! Food was delicious - we had an older family member with us so they felt it was a bit loud but we thought the live music was a great addition to the evening.
one of my favorite go-to's in Brentwood. Beautiful ambiance and good food. I highly recommend
Food sub par. Awful, cold, tasteless.
Service, fair. Asked 3 times to stop rushing us.
Noise level awful.
As always Baltaire was wonderful. My husband and I celebrated 35 years of marriage 💍 and we were NOT disappointed. We went early and now understand why older people eat early. By the time we left the noise level was uncomfortably loud for us. That being said we would do it all over again.
It was our first time visiting Baltaire and we haven’t stopped talking about it! The service was fabulous and the food was better. We had oysters, little gem salad, lobster bisque and a filet. The martinis were delicious as well! Can’t wait to go back
Beautiful restaurant with lovely ambiance
The food was delicious, however the service quality diminished as the restaurant became busier.
The band was terrific but loud- I will ask for a table a bit farther away since we could not carry on any conversation or barely hear our server.
Service was very slow and while they could not seat us at the time we requested there were plenty of empty tables. My meal was supposed to come with risotto, it did not, it came with spinach which we already ordered as a side! No explanation was offered. The waiter only poured our wine once but charged $45 for corkage. The waiter did not ask us if we wanted desert when I had already told them in advance that we were celebrating a birthday. Service was a real letdown.
The waitress that attended us was excellent although I can’t recall her name she made sure we had sufficient time to look through the menu and took the time to explain any items we had questions about. The ambience is perfect for a romantic night out even featuring live music when we went that was very tasteful and only added to the enjoyment of our meal. The food was absolutely excellent with the Steak Tartare being our personal favorite, I would absolutely recommend!
I sure hope this visit was an anomaly. Past visits actually were 5* service, but...no real service, no real caring, and problems cropped up.
Waiter was there initially, but when we didn't order heavy, or from the bar, he took himself to people he thought would tip him as he deserved (yes, we tipped over 20%, but that wasn't enough for him). We even had to ask the busboy to get either him or the manager.
A two hour meal slipped to a glacial 3.5 hours...while the table for two (we were a 2-top) next to us arrived later, and much faster service...but also hard drinks.
Don't get me wrong, the food was great. I loved the pork chop (I almost always get it). The service was terrible.
What made it worse was a gift card we tried to use. They came back saying this unused $150 gift card had no remaining value. I pointed out it had never been used. Now, it is only $150, nothing major, but....it just shows the level of the games being played.
I give up. The pork chop, as great as it is, isn't worth this negative energy, negative service, and the gift card games. The owners need to look at management and the failure to reign in such employees, or they will loose more customers.
The restaurant wasn't full, but I didn't feel that we had attentive service. I also found the atmosphere a bit cold.
The experience at Baltaire was amazing. Our server was very attentive and the food was delicious! Definitely going back!
Petite has a entirely new definition at this restaurant. If I hadn’t cut my steak in tiny pieces, it would have been gone in 5 normal size bites. No joke. Dinner guests even took pictures of it.
Good food, slow service.
Consistently excellent food & service. Fantastic fresh fries and everything I've ordered there has been great. Lemon meringue pie with sorbet is delicious.
This was a frustrating dinner that took 3 hours. We were seated at a table in the very content of the restaurant, which was cold. There was a portable heater, but they couldn’t get it to work! Appetizers came quickly and then our waitress told us she was taking a break, but that others had us covered. This is the last time we saw anyone for over an hour! Finally, Simone came to say there was a problem but our entrees were being prepared. I let them know we hadn’t even received our salads. It was easily another 30 min before we got our entrees. The manager came over to apologize and comped us our salads (thanks?). This is not a cheap restaurant and I expect much more.
I've always loved the ambiance of Baltaire but this is based on my experience while sitting at the bar over the years. This time we decided to spend NYE pre-gaming there - first seating before 7pm. We were a table of 6 that they generously squeezed a 7th comfortably. But the dining left us with a less than perfect experience. Well before arriving, I called to specifically ask if they carried a bottle of our favorite champagne to celebrate with. The hostess I spoke with claimed to have verified that they indeed carried the bottle. When we arrived they did have the brand in question, but 1/2 bottles only or by the glass. Why would you assume that a large table would be ok with small bottles, was my first thought. Really inconvenient, & not what we wanted. I even made a request in the notes after speaking with her to make sure we were accommodated. Makes me think no-one actually read the notes.
Food was delicious but the service was spotty. Water was scarce for our table all night. It's NYE everyone is drinking and it's just good practice to keep the guests hydrated! We eventually sucked it up and drank the half bottles but honestly I expect a better experience from a spot like Baltaire. The restaurant was not crazy full as I am sure they had no-shows for NYE. Wonder why the service was so off? Didn't really notice management on the floor, so perhaps that?
The music was a mess - seemed like a random playlist instead of the live music promised for NYE - I guess it started later? Who knows what went wrong... Going to stick to the bar next time. The most memorable part of the dining experience. Beignets. Happy New Year.
I had my birthday celebration NYE with just one friend plus my husband and had THE best oysters I've had in Los Angeles and the best Steak Tartare. I Had to eat my friends Branzino fish for her and it was delicious too because she didn't want it because she didn't want the skin on and also to see the tail but for me it was no problem but she perhaps could have been told . Anyway So fresh and sweet. It was cooked delicately with some light seasoning and filleted then folded back to make it look like a WHOLE fish again but that put her off eating it. Didn't bother me except to say that it stopped me from buying the lamb chops which is what I really wanted to try, as I didn't want her to feel bad. They probably should have explained that to us in the initial order that it wasn't a white fillet but had the skin and tail on it. I enjoyed it anyway but she had a delicate disposition and queasy eater so she was put off reordering. I added Bearnaise sauce to it which was epic. I gave her a a big cash tip on top of the 20% my husband left but in hindsight I wish the dish was explained more. Otherwise I would have offered 5 stars as it's not over priced but still pricey. Also since it was my birthday and it was NYE and I was there early at 530 with the first sitting and not that busy that they would have wished me happy Birthday or offered a free cocktail or desert! I even mentioned it in the on line booking where there was the Option to say what occasion plus I told them when I arrived but Nada nothing. Oh well. The food was good.
Visiting my sisters family I just looked at the reviews from Open Table for modern American on the west side of LA near the 405. Nobody had heard about it before so that made it even more of a surprise that it turned out to be a great evening.
We started at the bar and had very good and all different cocktails. For dinner I had one of the best, and easily most expensive, shrimp cocktail I ever had. Followed that by the best pork chop I ever had.
Service very attentive but not overwhelming. The one negative was our party being squeezed in to a banquette really for four people. We almost left when turned down for 6 top but I am certainly glad stayed.
Sensual birthday predance dinner
I just had dinner with my adult daughter at Baltaire. It was very expensive, but worth every penny. We both had the onion soup. to start with and we agreed that was probably the best onion soup we ever had in our lives. We both had steaks which were cooked perfectly, were tender and delicious. I had a butterscotch pudding concoction for dessert, which our server recommended as her favorite dish, and I can see why. It was to die for. What also made the meal memorable was our server, Tiffany. She was a delight, friendly, professional, and knowledgeable about all the items on the menu. The service was truly exceptional. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and something important to me is that the chairs were very comfortable. As you can tell by this review, I was very impressed with the restaurant. I’ve eaten in almost all the top restaurants in Los Angeles, and this is definitely at the top of my list.
It was wonderful! The staff was polite, courteous and vigilant to our needs, food was very savory, right portion size and prompt with all set in an atmosphere that is the right combination of sophistication, elegance and casual.
Lovely dinner place.Loveley ambience. Yes we will return .
