The speakers on the deck are set way too loudly. It was so loud we could hardly hear each other unless we spoke at the top of our lungs!
Montezuma was very helpful, food was delicious and it was a lovely evening on the patio!
It has been long time to visit after COVID-19.
Food and services are fantastic. (Beer is always the best)
Some issues with the online ordering - it took long and was sometimes incorrect with no one to talk to about it
A little disappointed with our most recent trip- opposite of the previous visit. First, the beer is great and enjoyed sitting outside to enjoy the day. However, the extremely limited food menu should allow more focus on quality-- after what seemed like a pretty long wait, our two burgers (one medium rare/one medium) were well done, lettuce wilted, and cold fries. You have to ask for condiments adding more time. Could've sent back, but didn't want to wait another half an hour. Regardless, the beer was warm before the food came out. The app is pretty cumbersome and annoying as everyone has noted, but the good thing is that it discouraged us from ordering additional rounds. Still, I would recommend to others to go and enjoy the beer.
The reason I rate this experience 3 stars is because when I booked my reservation through Open Table that was a question about the "occasion" of this reservation and I wrote it was a birthday. I thought that would give an indication that it would be nice to have a nice table in a nice spot of the restaurant since I did not specified rather inside or outdoors. It was not the case. They gave us a table outdoor in a dead end facing a wall. There was way more better places to seat specially when you book the reservation 5-6 days ahead. It was very disappointing!!!
Food menu is pretty limited right now. Review before you go. Online ordering app needs some ease of use updates.
Beer options are great. Food is ok and service can be lot better. Host could cater to seating arrangements and poor service afterwards is a no go for a next bigger group meal.
It would be nice to have the option of an actual server rather than ordering via the QR code.
I know businesses are trying to come back up to speed but the lack of kitchen staff and wait staff really was apparent. Long waits for apps, drinks and meals. They had nice music playing and then decided to blast the sound for a soccer game the we couldn’t even see on a TV. Disappointing visit.
Really enjoyed the location at Miramar. Burgers and beer were a perfect end to our day.
good collection of beer and nice staff. The online order is cumbersome to use, kinda take away some of the fun when we first sat down. Also we have to scan the bar code again for subsequent order, which is inconvenient. A simple fix is to put a barcode at each corner of the table.
menu is pretty pathetic right now. its basically a few burgers, a couple salads, and a few apps like wings and fries
I love the spot! Great food, staff, beer and ambiance. The only “ding” is the stupid app. It’s clunky and brings down the quality of service. Please go back to real people who can take orders, answer questions and again, provide the service that the app builds in the tip for.
I love the ambiance of the restaurant and although the menu choices are limited, the food is delicious. I would recommend Ballast point with the warning that there is virtually no service. You place your order using a QR code and pay via your phone. It’s like using Grubhub in the restaurant. It was especially problematic because we had a large group from work with one person paying the check. We ended up passing one phone around and ordering all on one phone. This kinda defeated the idea of contactless ordering. Phones are germ ridden. Oh well. I guess there is a second QR code to put all on one order idk. It was a little confusing. Call me old fashioned, but I like traditional wait service.
We reserved an outdoor table and enjoyed the beautiful night. The sun was rather intense on the west side of the patio but still very pleasant. The QR code ordering system was frustrating but our server Ryo was willing and able to take our order the “old fashioned way.” He was a delight. We enjoyed all of the food and chose to share everything family style, which allowed us to have better variety. The menu is limited right now but everything was delicious. We tasted 8 different beers with two make-your-own flights, which is a great way to go at $10 each.
Its a great service to be able to take your order from our phones and then they wind up at the table. But its still less than ideal to have to do it all now on your phone.
Great brewery with amazing selection of beers. Very good food albeit limited menu compared to a year ago. Great ambiance and polite staff. Service was very good but a bit disjointed\uncoordinated. Still a great experience and well done.
Great place for beer, food and to hang out. Great new game area in the back. Service was not that great. Probably due to lack of staff. Had to track down own silverware and napkins.
Let me first say I love Ballast Point. I was very disappointed when we arrived on fathers Day that all the food that was available were salads and a burger. No food on Fathers Day is no bueno. The restaurant and beer were awesome as usual. But had to find somewhere else for food.
Their food menu is trimmed way back. Hopefully as recovery continues it will be expanded. I was looking forward to the steamed mussels but no joy.
It's unfortunate that the service we received during our visit was unsatisfactory. We asked one of your staff to check the status of our food order because it's been almost an hour since we placed it. We were told that the kitchen is backed up and there were only 15 staff members working in the kitchen. As a customer, we don't want to hear these types of excuses, being short-staffed is not our problem. It was Father's Day, a busy day and this location should have expected this and staffed accordingly. What should have been said was that our order will be checked and will let us know. Also, after our drink order was taken, our server did not bother to check back with us to see if there is anything we need. Your beers are excellent and hope that the service from your tasting rooms will be improved.
A little pricey for food, but tastes great/cooked well. Excellent beer!
Digital menu and ordering is fine but they should allow alternative bill payment such as cash.
Also, there are very very few vegetarian items in the Manuel. they used to have veg.. pizza, not any more . it was taken out.
The past few times I've been to ballast the service has been quite poor. The hostess wasn't wearing her mask correctly and then sat us inside despite my reservation being for outside and there being seating available. We also found it difficult to flag down any employee (granted it was a busy time) for assistance with the menu, extra napkins, etc. As I said above, the past few times I've been to Ballast it's been disappointing and I may start looking for another brewery to be my trendy pick to show out of towners when they visit. Despite the high-quality beer and food, the service has been an egregious disappointment which is a major turn-off.
We love BP! So happy to be back out in the world. The beer selection is awesome and the food is good.
Ordering from the menu initially was a challenge. Too cumbersome and came up slow on the phones.
Moving to a system of ordering through a phone , they missed something basic. An option to ring someone for service. I had ordered two mojitos towards the end of my course , waited for 30 mins and then just left. The service used be decent, it has taken a cliff-dive post pandemic.
The food quality was good, a cozy environment to have happy hours!
Beautiful outdoor setting, but you had to order your food from an app and no one checked on us at all. We only had one interaction with anyone who worked there which was the guy who set our orders on the table. No one checked to see if everything was o.k. nor offered to fill our drinks. Also, my chicken salad which cost me $19 was not very good. Very disappointed.
Quick service and great beer selection. Always a great go-to spot to bring friends visiting SD.
Fun time. Good food.
Great beer and good vibes. 10/10
My wife and friends had an amazing time here. Really great atmosphere and the servers were so helpful. The food was incredible and the beer was of course great. Overall a great experience and will be coming back in the future.
Just a little more service, our table was full of empty plates and glasses
Great food, great beer. The prices were reasonable. We went here for a team-building event and things went well.
Under staffed but the staff did the best they could. Food and ambiance was good.
Service was not so good. I did not like ordering from my phone. Hopefully this is temporary. Food was excellent
We had a table of 8 and we all have not gotten together in a few years. It was nice to be able to all sit together in such a well lit and open area. The food & drink were all executed perfectly timed. Thoroughly enjoyed our time here & will more than likely be returning.
