This was my third visit to Azucar and probably my last. Each time I have given it the benefit of the doubt but each time I am disappointed. Perhaps it’s just my preferences in conflict with the menu. But aside from the fact that most dishes rely on a feta/olive (there is a LOT of feta on the menu) profile - a flavor profile I don’t care for - the basics of each of my orders were lacking.
I have had the scallops, the crab stuff poblano and the tenderloin. I did not care for any of them.
BUT the atmosphere upstairs is lovely and Norma Jean is a server worth the trip alone. She took great care of use two of the three times we visited.
Incredibly sexy two story restaurant tucked behind the hotel pool. The rooftop has heaters and a fireplace. Food is pretty good. Service was standard. The ambiance and vibe of the bar and restaurant are worthwhile. Perfect date place.
This was our first dinner at Azucar. We have eaten lunch pool side and loved it. Dinner inside was charming. Our server could not answer questions about leaving nuts off a dish, but did ask the kitchen. He seemed distracted, and while attentive, we had to ask for him twice. I had the salmon, which started out great, but was under cooked in the center. They took it back and finished cooking it. I would go back and try it again mostly for the room and my prior experiences at lunch.
This has quickly become our PS favorite. We take friends and out of town guests to this beautiful and casual space all the time. Food and service is always wonderful! It is a gem in our small downtown PS area. The decor is fresh with hints of Morocco and Spain and Mexico with a mid-century vibe. We HIGHLY recommend La Serena Villas to anyone wanting a beautiful desert local establishment for an evening or a weekend!
A belated celebration of my friend’s wedding
Our server Ezekiel and staff were attentive and lovely. However, the food portions were not. In addition, the menu was misinformed which resulted in one of our friends becoming terribly ill and ruined the rest of her evening. The ambience was thoughtfully curated which as we found out was the restaurant’s priority where the food should have been.
Charming surroundings and friendly atmosphere for a small birthday lunch. Will happily return soon.
We had been to Azucar for Drinks with friends and loved the signature cocktails and the incredible ambience of the rooftop terrace, so we were wanting to try the restaurant for dinner. It was fabulous! Loved everything about it! Great food, great ambience-such a pretty dining room and great service. One of our favourite new spots.
A 5+. Star restaurant. One of our favorite places to go in PS. GREAT FOOD COCKTAILS SERVICE. It has it all
Beautiful decor and ambience; Cherry Sour - yummy! Excellent Classic Gin Martini; food - scrumptious! Looking forward to our return!
Fantastic thanksgiving dinner!
The setting is just exquisite...a hotel restaurant that overlooks the pool courtyard in this classic 30's Spanish Inn. The Thanksgiving special menu was traditional yet imaginative and offered the diner's choice of side d issues to accompany the turkey roulade or salmon. Definitely a special place.
We enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner at Azucar. The staff were very attentive and pleasant. Orders were taken quickly and brought to the table in a timely manner. I will definitely return!
Very intimate place with delicious food
Food was overpriced for simple dishes
My wife called ahead and notified them it was my birthday and they said they would do something nice for dessert. They didn’t bring out anything but the bill and my wife was not happy.
Amazing food! Great recommendations from the staff.
Delicious cocktails and entrees. Try the watermelon salad! Get a table on the roof top!
Ambiance was great. Food and drink were were very disappointing. Undercooked and overpriced.
Excellent. Great food and service. Prices are on the higher side but worth it.
We enjoyed our evening. Service was slowish - one server with many tables. Was nice sitting outside and food was good. Would go back.
Lovely setting and fantastic food. We ate upstairs and outside. With the patio heaters, it was perfect.
A “gals’ luncheon” for four friends from far and wide! Azucar as wonderful as ever!
Food was delicious and ambiance was great. Service wasn’t great—server forgot our drink order, the restaurant wasn’t even busy, and acted annoyed when we reminded him. We also made an 8:30pm reservation—which was an option—and they made a point to tel us three times upon arrival that the kitchen was closing soon so we should order as soon as possible. Very unprofessional, rushed, and rude experience for arriving on time to our reservation. Food was good tho!
Very small intimate restaurant with excellent food and atmosphere. A great quiet evening for a couple.
Small menu with very well chosen meals and ingredients. Fun cocktail menu too. Outdoor dining for those seeking sun or shade.
This restaurant is one of my most favorites, it’s so unique and delicious! Every time we go toPalm Springs it’s now a must for us!
Azucar proves that they can also do a great lunch! I guess we need to do breakfast and brunch now.
Limited menu and strange combinations that didn't quite go together (crab and chorizo). One guest was vegetarian and didn't like olives and asked for a pasta dish to that could be made without olives and when it was brought out it was all olives in an olive sauce. The server didn't try to correct it even after the dish went uneaten. She just said, "Oh, I tried to ring it in as a modification but I guess it didn't work." Decor was nice but food and service was off. We were disappointed.
Lovely lunch by the pool on a quiet Friday. GREAT salads.
Beautiful setting and decor and the food was fantastic as was the blood orange margarita!!
Azucar never disappoints...another great experience and meal!
Still need to get their act together on the service level - so many miscues...
Disappointing but now I understand low ratings. Food was over cooked and pepper too salty. Very noisy. Service was uneven. Expensive for the quality.
Food was great, once we finally got it. What should’ve been a leisurely 90-minute dinner turned into almost two and a half hours, ending after 10:30pm. Our reservations were for 8:15, our table was ready at 8:45, and we placed our order around 9pm, but our server didn’t fire it until after she’d fired a large nine-top. We waited almost an hour for our food, after waiting 30 minutes for our table. The manager was apologetic and appeasing, but our server was oblivious. The ambiance and the food are wonderful here. Time your visit right and you’re in for a real treat.
Been here for lunch and dinner and will return. This experience was a step down from previous meals however. Food was mixed with highs and lows. Watermelon salad was disappointing; large chunks of sweet, ripe fruit but with little else to recommend it. Brussels sprout salad was fresh and tasty but you can get this almost anywhere in town. Mains were better. Swordfish was creatively prepared with interesting and flavor enhancing sides though the fish itself was a tad overdone. Companions complemented the scallops and crab chile relleno. Toffee brownie dessert was also a bit pedestrian. Beautiful setting. Service was odd and uneven. Though friendly, our waitperson chose to pour the entire bottle of wine directly after opening the bottle. Just wrong when some like a bit more later when others don't. That should be the diners' decision. And he pushed what we knew was a more ordinary but higher priced bottle of rose' over the one we selected. Otherwise meal was well timed. One pet peeve: Though seated on the patio, tables are very close together and we were unfortunate enough to be seated next to a loud (intoxicated?) table of bachelorettes. Not the restaurant's fault I know, but.......
Food service atmosphere perfect
This place had a really great vibe and the decor was clever and unique. Love the art and furniture. Food was overall good but just a few comments. Disappointing wine list, especially wines by the glass. There were some really low level wines on there which was really surprising - we had been to Spencers, Mr Lyons and Colony Palms and had been thrilled with the wonderful wines by the glass - this list needs a revamp. Nothing excited us. Also a restaurant of this caliber needs to get the steak temperature right. My filet was cooked medium well - to well done, when I had ordered medium (which should be a solid pink). It was also a salt lick, almost inedible. Cooks need to know how not to ruin a steak! So between mediocre wine & not getting a good steak, it was an okay experience. Needs a bit more polish.
We ate here twinge in 3 days it was that good.
Service was superb, and friendly. The water melon salad was a amazing starter.
I highly recommend.
Food and service was excellent. Sat on the upstairs patio with a beautiful view of the mountains. Recommend this restaurant highly.
