Delightful atmosphere; good service; great food! Always a treat!
Waiter and busboy were great.
Aya Sofia was a great find for our Saturday night dinner. Staff was friendly and helpful, ambiance was cozy and casual. We all enjoyed our meal selections though it was hard to make a decision on which one. I chose the dolma - baked stuffed peppers and had enough to take home for lunch the following day. Look forward coming back and trying some different menu items.
Four of us went for dinner last weekend. The place was hopping, which makes me happy for their business. In spite of a full house, our server was prompt and diligent. Most memorable items were Kofte (deliciously spiced large meatballs) and Balik (whole, grilled fresh fish). The wine is reasonable and a good buy for the money. Only item not perfect for our tastebuds was the table - too much garlic for us. This is our second time here. Will be back!
Great food but the restaurant is quite noisy - try to get one of the booths with curtains instead!
Great food, I was very disappointed they did not have mint tea to accompany dinner.
Great time here with good food and service!
My husband and I took some out of town friends and their grown children to Aye Sofia after the Fox Theater. We did not know what to expect. Our bartender was extremely educated about the restaurant and the menu itself. Our waiter was fairly new, but we enjoyed taking risks on our food and enjoyed every single dish. We had a blast and I would highly recommend it!
It was so delicious! Just go to wake up your taste buds and experience something new and exciting. We will go back for seating on the patio when it gets warmer!
Having lived in Turkey for two years, it was very nice to have a meal that reminded me of the people of Turkey; I miss them. Thank you for letting me take a walk down memory lane.
Almost as good as eating in Istanbul. The iskender was awesome. Great service and atmosphere. I read that it was kid friendly and my kids did great but I wouldnt recommend taking young kids with picky eating habits.
Food was excellent, authentic, and surprising. Service was personal, engaging, and competent. In the top ten for ethnic dinners in the stl area.
Took a friend there for lunch. Delicious!
Awesome food! Awesome service! We will come back.
Quiet, charming place with great food, reasonable prices.
I had a wonderful time. This couldn't have been a better post Valentine's day dinner. Sorry we were there for 3 hour but it was perfect! See you soon.
Love the prix fixe menu for Valentine's Day. It was delicious! Thank you!
St. Louis is incredibly fortunate to have such a spectacular Turkish restaurant. The owner is Turkish and has a menu that's very similar to food we had when we were in Turkey. Deliciously spiced but not "hot", just very complex flavors, strong but not overwhelming, rich and luxurious. The food is cooked perfectly. We've been there many times and it's never once disappointed. Try to get a booth if you can, just a bit more charming.
Few cities actually have a Turkish restaurant, let alone a really great one like this. It's a jewel in our town.
Our Valentines dinner was fantastic! I can't wait to go back and try the regular menu.
Totally enjoyable atmosphere and service, good selection of delicious food, and reasonable prices. We were with another couple who also had a wonderful experience. We talked and ate for hours! Our server gave us just the right amount of attention and was very responsive to all of our requests and questions. Will definitely come again.
The food was excellent and our server was very nice and attentive. We enjoyed the atmosphere. Very clean and the decor served to establish a very nice atmosphere.
Can’t say enough about how excellent the food is. We had four in our party and everyone was very pleased. Will definitely return.
The food was wonderful and the setting was great too. We were there for an anniversary dinner and requested a romantic table, which worked out fine, but we felt we were being rushed the entire time we were there. We were barely into our appetizer before the entree came out. They also were pulling our plates before we were finished, it was strange. Our server seemed bothered that we wanted a dessert. I understand that waiters need to turn over their tables to make more money, but there were lots of empty tables all around us. Perhaps we're not the demographic the restaurant wants, or he assumed we were poor tippers.
I have been eating at Aya Sofia since they opened their doors. My wife and I lived in the neighborhood, and we ate their weekly (either dining in or carry out). The wait staff has always been exceptional, and we have never been disappointed with our wine selection. Chef Mehmet is an extremely talented chef, and we have been fortunate to get to know him over the years. Aya Sofia strikes a great balance between fine and casual dining. The patrons typically range from folks in jeans to people dressed to go to the symphony. You can always count on a great meal, and leaving full. If you haven't tried it, you definitely should.
This was our first time at Aya Sofia. ...we loved it. The food was amazing, well seasoned and a varied menu. Staff was wonderful. Can't wait to return for another delicious meal!
first time visit and I was impressed. Great atmosphere. The meat pie appetizer was excellent and very flavorful. The lamb shank was fall off the bone tender and delicious as was the beef/lamb meatballs. The coffee pudding(?) dessert was thick as tar but with a superb taste. Definitely worth the trip.
My husband really enjoyed this place... I just wished I would of asked for my beef well done
I always enjoy my visit to Aya Sofia. Great food and good service.
My wife and I went here for dinner and it was amazing! The food was some of the best we have had given the flavor and tenderness of the meat. We really enjoyed the service and the food is reasonably priced for a truly awesome meal. The wine we had was wonderful as well.
Excellent food and drinks in a great atmosphere. Everyone should get the Kanafeh for dessert. So good
turkish/lebanese restaurant which features lots of entrees and appetizers that most people are not familiar with. Several entrees feature lamb and skewers of food. Likewise the wine list features quite a few wines from parts of the world that most people are not familiar with. The food was very good. I had a lamb dish. Several others had eggplant based dinners and several skewers of lamb, chicken. We had a Lebanese red wine and a Turkish white wine which were both very good. Service was great and the prices were moderate for the quantity and quality of food we had.
Excellent food and generous portions for a reasonable price.
Most of the tables looked very nice and cozy. We were seated at a small table by the closed French doors that lead to the patio, during warmer times. It was very cold.
Our waitress took a long time getting to our table. We had to ask the hostess for our check and to pay.
That being said, I will give it another chance. I will ask for a booth (none were open when I asked if we could be moved).
The food was very good and I liked the cozy atmosphere.
Have been meaning to give Aya Sofia a try for a long time and finally did. What a wonderful meal. From the smile on the hostess (could see her smile from outside the front door, what a way to be greeted!) all the way through the warm good-bye, the experience was outstanding! Food flavors popped from our dishes, our server (Jeff I believe) was great and walked us through his recommendations. This was a really nice experience that we'll repeat again, sooner than later. Great job, Aya Sofia.
The food was excellent - my wife had the fish and I had the lamb chops which they are noted for. Wine selection is small but good. The service was very personal and very good. We recommend this place highly.
This has been our go-to place for a number of years, but we are done now. The menu has never changed (even the "off menu specials" are the same each time). We noticed that the items we order all the time seemed off this time. The rice had been better, and this time seemed like rice a roni. The Adana Kabap had been in two sections, and this time was one long section-and drier than usual. The pepper on the plate had added a bit of heat, and this time was bland. The slaw seemed less fresh. A silly thing: the plate was square, but slid around as I was cutting the meat-so asked for a cloth napkin to put between the plate and the table, which worked. A sharper knife would have helped to cut through the meat and pepper, and pita easier. A shame-we really liked Aya Sofia.
Excellent atmosphere with great service. There are so many menu options that sound great, including the specials that its hard to choose - but you can't go wrong as the food and deserts are excellent.
Service and food were wonderful. Really enjoyed the decor and ambiance too!
We decided to go there for Sunday breakfast. Food was very good. They have a variety of dishes to choose from to meet most tastes. The bloody Mary I had was excellent. The server, Jeff, did a great job. The amount of food was plenty and the two of us had leftovers for later. Definitely worth going back for breakfast and we will come back and try their dinner service.
Food was well prepared and presented well. Service was OK not exceptional. Prices was higher than average.
