   Lovely restaurant only downside was the fact they never got our opentable reservation? but we got a table anyway luckily! Also, another annoyance were the waiters that were circling our table like sharks... a little too much! We were trying to have a private conversation... Food is great here though!

   Food is excellent. Service was very poor. I think ever since Simone left the place is not the same. We waited 45min/1hr for our main course.

   food was good. but poor service. they didnt pay attention the table, not enough staff. Poor service cannot be allowed in this price range.

   Food was excellent, service atrocious. I order an Aperol Spritz, which is supposed to have prosecco in it. The drink arrives and is not quite right but they are seldom the same from restaurant to restaurant. It depends on which proseco is used . I ask for a glass of prosecco to taste the prosecco on its own and am told "we dont serve prosecco here". An Italian restaurant that does not serve prosecco! I ask kater for a glass of Pinot Grigio with my main course - my guests are drinking red wine - and after ten minutes, when my food is nearly finished - the Pinot Grigio has not arrived. I ask again and am told "we dont serve Pinot Grigio here". An Italian restaurant that does not serve Pinot Grigio, worse, they couldnt be bothered to tell you that they dont serve it, they leave you with nothing. Go figure!

   this was the second time i came here and i was less happy than the first time. the mixed fish carpaccio starter we shared was quite tastless and uninspiring in presentation and how the fish was sliced. main course seabass in salt crust for two ended up being half of a large one prepared for four. it was quite nice but last time i had it, it was £40/head and now £45/head but the portion was smaller. the wine list also seems to have gotten heavier in the very expensive wines and lesser choice in reasonable segement. service was a bit too casual and had to consistently ask to have the wine poured, but a nice touch they did take back and prepare a new espresso while my date was in the ladies. overall still a good meal but certainly is now far removed from value for money probably explaining that it was not full on a saturday night.

    A fiend referred Assunta Madre to my Boyfriend and I so we decided to give it a go after passing by many times before. I must say it was a wonderful experience, from the moment you walk in to the door you are kindly greeted in Italian, then their fresh fish stand calls your attention and the waiters help you pick your fish and finally seat you at your table. We decided to le the manager bring some dishes to share of his choice. We had langoustine tartar and tuna carpaccio which were both sublime, literally melting in your mouth, then he brought us some gnocchi with red shrimp, cherry tomatoes and pecorino cheese, the taste was perfect, it was just the right balance to taste the flavour of the red prawns, he then finished us off with some Sea bass cooked in salt crust and some roast potatoes, the fish was cooked perfectly and the seasoning on the potatoes was delicious. We will definitely be coming back very soon!
