Aspen Grille- Colorado State University
Please give our thanks to the server. The service was excellent, and the food was yummy. Grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup on a cold snowy day is just what I like for lunch.
A great experience at Aspen Grille at CSU. Students were very friendly, food was good and a great value. We were on campus visiting our student but don't hesitate to dine there as a local choice!
Very impressed with organization, food quality and flavor. service was fast our daughter is in the program and she was our server.very impressed definitely recommend to all my coworkers.thanks
Took my dad for 75 th birthday lunch! He loved it.
Service seemed a little "proper". It felt like I was some place super fancy. I wish the wait staff was a little more attentive and a tad bit friendlier and didn't seem so awkward, BUT I do understand that it's a classroom and learning experience. Overall the food was true to the flavors that I was raised on, I went during the APIDA Filipino food special.
Top notch service and food. This place is wealth of knowledge for its students and the faculty/instructors should be proud of themselves. Oh, and the instructur’s buns are the best in town. They are golden brown, firm yet soft and fresh, and warm to touch. Clearly they are a notch above the rest.
This is a must if you are on campus or visiting the area! Love the food and always love to support learning.
Great place to have a lunch with guests. The students do a great job.
What a great opportunity for the students! We are fortunate to have this on our campus. Can’t wait to return, so many dishes to try.
The menu needs to comport with the menus of the restaurants of today, by that I mean, you need to tell in some detail the contents of the foods you are offering (ie. black eyed peas/beans with hot spice, onions, tomatoes, etc. for those who can't eat highly spiced foods or onions, tomatoes etc ; pecan pie with whip cream for those who are lactose intolerant. This will allow customers to choose foods or request adjustments to the foods offered so that they can safely eat at your restaurant.
The catfish was mushy and had some kind of gristle in it. The cornbread was slightly undercooked. The crust of the pecan pie was perfect and offering one food, the green beans, that was unadulterated, was a good choice.
Food was warm. Black eye peas, corn bread and coffee all were flavored well. The meat was dry and green beans just like every other place. All people were pleasant, not outgoing but gave good service. We will come back.
I’d give it a five, but their Menu doesn’t match the Open Table website, which is really too bad. Seems like a remedial task for a classroom setting.
Delightful place and food, locally sourced and creatively made and served by students learning the industry (under great supervision). Ambiance is very nice, too, though my group had someone with difficulty hearing and there was a lot of ambient noise. Staff helped quickly when we asked for music to be turned down. Highly recommend!
I always enjoy bringing guests to the Aspen Grille.
the staff and service were excellent. very friendly and welcoming.
the hamburger was a bit overcooked and the bun was burnt, it seemed like it had been sitting there for awhile before delivery.
the pumpkin soup was very good
The Aspen Grille is a nice little secret on the CSU Campus. It has a very nice ambiance, provide a great variety of food that showcases CSU's agricultural background. I have yet to eat somethere there that I didn't enjoy. The meal we had this week was extraordinary. The quail with cranberry maple relish was perfectly seasoned and tender. The squash vegetables with the touch of onion also hit the spot. The pumpkin soup with the pumpkin fry bread was extraordinary. You could actually taste the pumpkin and the seasoning was subtle and complimentary. The corn pudding at the end was just enough sweetness to satisfy. The waitstaff was attentive but not pushy. All was appreciated. Thank you for such a great experience.
The food was great and the service was outstanding. I enjoyed bringing my international gas to the restaurant. They were quite impressed.
Great Latin meal, 10/10 would eat again. It was very considerate of them to inform us of the heritage special that was happening, and it did not disappoint! The flan was the best.
The hostess and server both were courteous, accommodating, and efficient.
The students do a great job in the front of the house--nicely done. The food needs improvement. Burgers are served on enormous buns that make the burger look tiny. Salmon poke bowl is very odd combination of flavors and made me feel ill all afternoon.
We had an office lunch out at Aspen Grille for the APIDA Heritage Month, Taste of Aloha event. The students did a great job of putting together a menu and they were responsive to requests. The portions were a little small and the pineapple ice cream was not very sweet, closer to a sorbet without much pineapple. Everyone enjoyed the taro dinner rolls with sweet butter appetizer, and the entrees (salmon poke bowl or chicken with rice) were good. There were 3 courses for $13, beverage incl. We were glad we went and it definitely had a CSU community feeling!
Good service and consistently interesting and tasty food are hallmarks of The Aspen Grille. I highly recommend it for campus dining and for community members who want a good lunch in an attractive atmosphere.
The staff need to become more comfortable or supported in helping each other. For example there was a problem with the computers so our water person couldn't take our order...then we didn't see a server to take an order for 5 minutes. We had time, but a collaborative environment could be more efficient and productive.
We enjoy and support because it is run by the students and they do an excellent job. Food is surprisingly good. We enjoy the unique dishes. The service is as good or better than most restaurants in town.
The Aspen Grille is always a nice lunch spot when you want something nice and convenient to campus. I like that it supports the food service program and helps teach in a practical setting. As for the food itself it is good but not very imaginative. I had the lamb burger and tomato soup. The soup should have been strained to exclude seeds and tomato skin. The lamb burger was a little gamey and dry. The best menus are always when they host guest chefs.
As always, we were very happy with our meal at the Aspen Grille. It is so fun to learning in action--knowing that your server is a student in a class and is learning skills that they could apply to a lot of professional settings is satisfying. They learn team work, collaboration, customer service, multitasking. The list goes on! Highly recommended.
The Aspen Grille is the Colorado State University teaching restaurant, but the menu is as varied as any you would find in an excellent farm to table type restaurant. It uses local Colorado produce and meat and there is always homemade ice cream in weekly special flavors. It is fun to help the students learn and help support the university at the same time. Highly recommend.
Great service and food was delicious. I had the BLTA sandwich with potato salad. It was fresh and the bacon was amazing. The homemade peach ice cream was creamy with fresh peaches. Wonderful!
