From the OpenTable editors: Antoine’s is the county’s oldest continuously operating restaurant and a special-occasion destination for its opulent setting and elegant, French-Creole fare. Sit in one of 14 gilded dining rooms to feast on favorites like oyster Rockefeller and soufflé potatoes, both original to the restaurant. Cap the meal with a classic baked Alaska or the house chicory coffee, laced with cognac and triple sec and flamed tableside—it’s New Orleans, after all.

The food was delightful, savory, and cooked to perfection. We had to send one plate back as it came out cold but it was quickly replaced with a slightly warmer plate. The service was decent but had multiple food runners come up to our table to drop off food that was not ours. Overall a great experience and ambience.

We have been here several times in the past year and really enjoyed it and felt the service was second to none! I couldn’t wait to share our experience and the Baked Alaska with my family last night! I’m not sure what happened but the service was TERRIBLE. We received our food on time and it was very good. But the waiter was MIA and so was the back waiter. We had to Hale down another waiter to ask them to summon our waiter to get service like salt pepper and bread and refills once our main course arrived because they didn’t come check on us at all. There was so much staff walking back and forth and past us but we couldn’t get anyone’s attention until I literally haled one down like a NY Cab!! I had bragged on what a great Nola tradition this was and how great the service was to my adult kids and it was so disappointing! The Baked Alaska was delicious, but the slow delivery and service of it caused it to be rather sloppy and melting. We had to ask them to remove used glasses, silverware and dishes and literally HAND THEM to them to clean up the table between courses. Normally they would have someone taking care of this the moment something was empty and certainly before the dessert was served! Pitiful! Please get it together we’d love to come back one day!

Our first time. I wanted to treat the place with respect bc of its history I had read about and dressed (I thought) appropriately: After being seated, I noticed some patrons dressed in t-shirts or shorts and it was a let down for me. Our servers were EXCELLENT (Jordan and Kyle) and were conversational without being overwhelming and Kyle took us on a tour of the smaller more intimate rooms, wine room and stairway that we would not have imagined. Very interesting history and gives the overall experience that specialness one wants. The food was excellent. Marchand la Vin steak was cooked to request. Escargot excellent and not too buttery or garlicky. My wife had GulfCoast Amendine plate. My only slight complaint was the asparagus and potatoes were warm to cool and could have been warmer. We avoided the main room at the entry because very noisy and busy. We were early but were seated immediately. In hindsight I would have NOT sat by the entry way to kitchen area as many staff going back and forth. Very interesting framed pictures of famous visitors to the establishment. It was our anniversary and Jordan set up champagne for us which was nice. Overall I give an A+. We had full 3 course meal with one dessert, 1 bottle of $$ wine. Total cost (with 25% tip) about $250. Last note: Being Mexican-American, my wife and I did get that usual strange feeling of being the only couple of color in the restaurant that wasnt part of the staff. NO ONE was rude or impolite, I only bring it up because it is an establishment that all people should visit and not feel unwelcome, because the experience is worth taking a chance on!

The ambience was totally missing and the staff did nothing to engage with my wife and I. Having booked in Australia from reviews we had read we were underwhelmed. Our appetisers were “acceptable “ but for the main meal I asked the waiter Russell if the fillet steak was freshly cooked and he responded in the affirmative. It was not- cooked earlier and then thrown on a hot plate. So disappointed but when I questioned Russell he could not care. I would NOT recommend this restaurant.

Thanks for the feedback, Eric. We're truly sorry to hear that your experience at Antoine's didn't meet your expectations. It's disappointing to hear that the ambience and our service didn't meet your expectations as well. We take pride in our food and it's disappointing to hear that the steak was not cooked to your preference. We appreciate your comments and will certainly take them into account to improve.
