El Anglesea Arms se encuentra en Selwood Terrace, una calle de South Kensington en cuyo nº 11 residió Charles Dickens. El lugar era un huerto y vivero en 1712. Este bonito pub tradicional da la sensación de ser más antiguo de lo que aparenta por su aspecto, y goza de buena fama por su excelente comida y bebida. Hay una terraza grande en el frontal del pub, y algunas mesas en el lateral de la casa, donde se pueden comer platillos de ambos menús y disfrutar el sol (si hay).

    Been coming here for years but today was awful. 1pm booking and yet 45 mins to bring bread then a further 45 mins to bring roast lunch (which is why we always come). Chicken was overcooked, beef was so rubbery it didn’t cut and was inedible, roast potatoes were undercooked, Yorkshire puddings were cold. All in all a Father’s Day roast lunch that we were looking forward to was totally ruined but terrible food.

    Booked here at short notice for a Sunday lunch. They fitted us into the dining room and served us some fantastic roasts, and a wonderful bottle of pinot noir. We were pleased with the service, the quality of food, and the value for money. Highly recommend.

    We had the Sunday roast. One chicken one beef. Both were delicious. The place was crowded. They were able to seat us inside. Our server was very sweet. I would definitely go back.

    I booked because it said this was an award winning gastro pub, so I trusted this should be a safe bet for a nice Sunday dinner after an amazing show at the Royal Albert Hall. But I was wrong. The Sunday roast (lamb) was totally unappealing to the eye, the taste buds were just about satisfied. We both got lukewarm meat. The attentive waiter who asked if everything was ok with our food quickly returned the plates to the kitchen and we received a new plate with slightly warmer meat. All other parts on the plate were hot though. The plate of food felt rushed and loveless, the Yorkshire pudding was not home-made as they all looked too alike which I found disappointing for a £26 meal. The vegetables were pretty dry like they had been lying in waiting since lunch time service. Overall a big downer after seeing Gladiator with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The Malbec was a good choice of wine, smooth and complex.

    We returned to Anglesea arms today to celebrate Mother’s Day with relatives. I had a reservation, and we were warmly welcomed and offered a table outside (my request) on a beautiful day. Everything took forever…from getting water, to order drinks, to ordering our food, to getting each of the courses ordered. For 4 of us, on a day where the menu was largely limited due to Mother’s Day, it took over 3 hours to dine. Not what I expected for Sunday roast. The food was excellent as I expected.
