Amarone Kitchen & Wine
Sandro & Lilly Oliverio
Who would expect that a small Italian restaurant on Sunset Boulevard would turn out to the jewel of the city. Our daughter lives nearby and the restaurant had good reviews, so we decided to try it. From the moment we arrived, we felt like we were back in our favorite local restaurant anywhere in Italy. Alessandro, the owner and Maitre'D, is gracious and knowledgeable. We tried many more dishes than we needed to because each was prepared perfectly.
Appetizers included Swordfish carpaccio, Buffalo mozzarella and prosciutto, and beef carpaccio. Each was perfect. As an intermezzo, we had Risotto with truffles. I make a great risotto but this was perfectly prepared. Entrees were veal milanese and pork milanese. Each was cooked to perfection.
The wine list is excellent and we drank several bottles from the early 2000's at reasonable prices.
When you arrive, there is a small room in the front with several small tables. We chose to sit upstairs in the intimate dining room with a beautiful view of West Hollywood.
If you get the chance, this is a meal you will be talking about with love for a long time.
As always food and service was phenomenal
My second trip to Amarone was even better than my first. The food is very consistent and the price is definitely worth it especially in the WeHo area. The owner is extremely friendly as well.
Wonderful service, lovely ambiance interesting and delicious pasta and buratta and prosciutto salad. Yummy bread
Very quaint, food is absolutely amazing! Everything made from scratch daily! A must try!
Always a delightful evening at Amarone. It never fails!
Great dinner, great wine, great service! Would definitely return!
The owner is always a pleasure to converse with. Great food!
Always great food and service
Great ambiance. Food was exquisite. My husband is a chef and he commented on the simplicity and beautiful combination of fresh flavors and traditional homemade pasta. Excellent wine list. Definitely give this restaurant a try. You will be thankful you did.
The small and quaint atmosphere only adds to the personal home style and ambiance one wants in an authentic Italian restaurant. The owner waited on us, recommended the best dishes, and is from Italy. His staff speaks Italian and very friendly. The comfortable setting, delectable food and personal friendly service makes for a very enjoyable dining pleasure.
We have dined at Amarone several times and highly recommend the restaurant. Owner is delightful and offers helpful recommendations on wine and menu. Atmosphere is warm and quiet - great for table conversation. Food is terrific!
Another great dinner at Amarone. It never disappoints. I believe my servers name was Bella and she absolutely made it a fun evening even though I was dining alone. I try to stop here every time I am in LA.
Small but diverse dining menu, beautiful salads, hand made pasta, and a really nice Italian wine list. Host/owner made it a point to get to know the diners and to discuss menu items and wine pairings. Intimate scale, would definitely visit again.
Always the most amazing food and service — a regular customer here.
Wow, a little storefront on sunset with homemade pasta and fabulous Italian wine. I had a spectacular pork chop and we shared two bottles of reasonably priced Amarone. . . .terrific service as well. Ask for Bella!
Picked this spot based on location and on-line reviews. Loved it based on the staff and the food. The owner/manager personally prepared an appetizer for us and made great recommendations on entrees. Our waiter was personable and attentive, even with a celebrity and his entourage sitting next to us commoners! Didn’t have time for dessert but everything else was fantastic.
Love the owner Sandro who has put his heart and soul into his quaint Italian restaurant. Accidentally found this wonderful little place by surprise while visiting this area of town.
We had a fabulous meal at Amarone last week. It reminded of us of a quaint Italian restaurant in Italy. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The owner was friendly and thoughtful about helping us decide about which wine and dishes to try. I recommend the prosciutto and burrata appetizer along with the pasta bolognese. Fresh pasta with a simple but incredibly delicious sauce. We will definitely come back!
Excellent dinner. The owner loves every plate into existence. Definitely dine here.
Sandro's the man! Always 5 star food, Service and Wine selection. I highly recommend this to Italian food fans who love homemade and fresh organic ingredients. It's a Winner!
A delight. We were welcomed like old friends, and the food was superb. A definite must, and somewhere we will return to again. And again.
We had a wonderful dinner here on our last night in West Hollywood. We were visiting our son and wanted to go to an Italian restaurant. He and his wife have been here before and highly recommended it. We know why. The food was great and the owner (and cook) was very personable. We all had a pasta dish and for dessert we shared the flourless chocolate cake which was delicious. We'll be back on our next visit.
the evening was great the food and attention we received was very very good . It was like going to a friends home dinning room
The restaurant was rather small, but added to the wonderful ambiance. We sat upstairs where we remained the only customers for the rest of the evening. It was excellent to not dine in a place that is so loud. Our waiter was from Italy and had some difficulty understanding English. However that only added to the authenticity of the restaurant. The wine and overall menu were small, but offered excellent choices. I had the tagliatelle beef ragu...it was amazing. The pasta was homemade, and the sauce was the perfect consistency. My date had the shrimp, which was also superb. Note: only 6 shrimp were offered, with no side. If you have a big appetite, consider ordering an appetizer also. The wine was from Italy and was also wonderful. One of the best Sauvignon Blanc I’ve had. For dessert we had panna cotta...also was excellent. Overall I can’t wait to return. They’ll most definitely be seeing more of me.
Great Pastas, good wine list, friendly staff. Good dialogue with owner
Excellent authentic Italian food. Friendly family owned restaurant with attentive service and a reasonably priced wine list. Slightly weird Sunset strip location but worth the effort to find it. You won’t be disappointed!
Fantastic experience. In town for one night and found this place around the corner from my hotel. Welcoming, personal, and fast service. Fantastic food, good wine, and a cozy dining room. Definitely worth a trip!
My wife and I shared our first date together ten years ago at Amarone. We went back to Amarone to celebrate our two year wedding anniversary just this past weekend and the memories came flooding back! Sandro was a joy to speak with throughout the evening, and his food was spectacular. The barolo wine was delicious, and the homemade pastas were perfectly cooked. What makes this space special is the ambiance.
My husband and I went to Amarone Kitchen for the first time. It exceeded our expectations even after reading all the great reviews. The service was excellent and the food and wine delicious. The owner, Sandro, treated us same as he treated his regular patrons who were at two other tables. It was a lovely room with great ambience. We will definitely return.
Always the best. You feel like you are in a small town in Italy when in Amarone. We love love love the place.
Neighborhoody, focused on the food, intimate experience. Premises are a little scrappy but they make up for it with what matters.
Great food, intimate dining space, and attentive staff. Always a pleasure to dine here, and I always leave feeling like it is a special hidden gem.
I don’t know how this restaurant gets a 4.8 on Opentable! It was a major disappointment for the three of us!
The salad was fine, but the octopus was tough, and overall the food was bland. I never tasted homemade pasta that tasted like cardboard before. The bucatini special had practically no seasoning or guanciale.
Even the wine was hardly drinkable.
As far as I am concerned it was poor food st a high price!
My favourite restaurant in LA. I make sure I go there every time I'm in the city.
Amazing service and food. One of the best pastas in the city. The owner is a nice lady. Stuff is very friendly and nice
We LOVE Amarone Kitchen! The food, ambiance, and service are amazing! We had a beautiful evening there.
Food was great but the wine we selected was disappointing considering the price. Also, the food portions could have been a bit more generous.
Amazing. The food was great and the owner is incredible.
This place, food, & service is always amazing!! One of my favorites!!
