From the heart of Michelin-starred Chef/Owner Johnny Curiel comes Alteño. Curiel’s newest creation pays homage to his Jaliscan Highland roots and traditions, incorporating a mix of heritage flavors and rustic preparations that spotlight the cuisine and culture of the iconic Los Altos de Jalisco. The spirit of Johnny’s restaurateur father, the original Alteño, is felt in the very soul of the restaurant.

The campestre influence woven throughout Alteño is inspired by Johnny’s childhood spent in the mountainous region of Los Altos, known for its rolling hills, historic colonial architecture, and wild, untamed land. Chef Johnny and his partner and wife, Kasie, developed the beverage program balancing top-shelf, native Mexican flavors and agave spirits like raicilla and mezcal, with classic cocktails and a wine list that includes a selection of Mexican, European and American wines overseen by Alteño’s in-house sommelier.

Wow. Another unbelievable addition from Chef Johnny Curiel. The restaurant itself is beautiful and vibes are high from the moment you walk in. Service was top-notch - so knowledgeable and attentive. The food speaks for itself. Unreal flavors and quality. Our party of 6 got A LOT of excellent dishes, but a few highlights: baked scallops, kanpachi tostada, pan de elote, queso fundido and al pastor. Can’t wait to come back and try everything else!

The food and service here are always good. This is my 4th visit, the first in the dining room. I usually sit at the bar.

Mel, our server was wonderful. While we enjoyed everything we ate, we still prefer Alma Fonda Fina!

Alteno deservers it reputation as on of the best restaurants in Denver. Outstanding food, drinks, and service. As this was our first time, the server helped us navigate the menu and its 4 sections. The two of us slit the crab and avocado salad, the corn bread, and the crispy chicken - all outstanding. There was more than enough food for us. So much that we did not have room for dessert.

The food was amazing! Our waiter disappeared for about 20 mins. Our 2nd round of drinks took forever! She did take care of that and brought an app to the table for the inconvenience. I will definitely be back.

Wonderful! First time here and we loved every dish! Dan, our server made amazing recommendations. The stuffed mushrooms was incredible! Will definitely be back!

What to make of all the glowing reviews of Alteno? BELIEVE THEM! This restaurant is stellar. The attentive service and sophisticated flavors and presentation make this place one that is not to be missed.
