Warmth, hospitality and enjoying life - Welcome to Alpenrose!
We were seated immediately, our server took our order quickly, we were served within minutes, and we were done within an hour. No leisurely dinner for us. The tables are so close that you feel as though you are dining with the people next to you. The menu has changed and the selections aren’t nearly as good as in the past. I felt that our dinner was way overpriced for what we had. We were so disappointed; we loved the old Alpenrose Rose. We shall not return.
The host first sat us at table beside the restroom. The chairs were very uncomfortable as they were from an old single seat chairlift. Could barely reach the table to eat. The waitress attended and without saying a word just burst out laughing for whatever reason. She left hysterically to the main entrance. Everyone within the vicinity including the bartender looked at her with disbelief. Extremely rude and very unprofessional for such a high rated restaurant. That was the first strike.
I asked for my wife and I to be moved to another table. A new waitress seated us on the 2nd level. She was attentive but too little too late. Original waitress completely ruined the experience. My wife returned from restroom and was blocked by another waitress standing on the stairs. She reluctantly moved to allow my wife to pass. Strike two.
The meal was served and the food was okay at best. My wife's spatzle dinner was luke warm. Strike three.
Overall, very poor service from two waitresses that ruined the meal and the experience. I will definitely share this story to everyone and will not recommend your restaurant.
Outstanding outside porch overlooking Vail’s main strip.
Wonderful all around!!
There are few things as great as sitting outside in the sun enjoying the amazing food at Alpenrosen. It is a Vail tradition with great food and excellent service. This is one place I always go to when in Vail.
Where else can u get genuine Bavarian food in such charming ambience with waiters and waitresses in Bavarian country dress? We're glad we wandered past Alpenrose restaurant in Vail last summer and decided to give the cuisine a try. Just walking around the old Bavarian style interior is a treat that you will want to share with your friends. Its like stepping into the Bavarian past. You can almost hear sheep bleating outside!
Honestly one of the best meals we have ever had in Vail, with the most adorable ambiance.
Great authentic place!!!
My wife and I ate at Alpenrose a year ago and had a wonderful time. We made a reservation for this trip and weren’t disappointed. Great food, wonderful ambiance, service not to be beat. Even though the restaurant was full my wife commented that we could carry on a quiet conversation. Definitely a must when visiting Vail
We have been coming here for 10 year, but the new owners changed the menu and got rid of the old staff.
They no longer have bundesteller, or veal vienna schnitzel (they only have the pork version)
Also no American wines on the list.
The food we had was good, but we were disappointed that they got rid of our favorites.
The service was excellent and the food very good. Our only comment is about how difficult it was to get into and out of the two person table that we had in a corner. We were squeezed next to a much larger table and another two person table. In spite of that we would definitely return, but just maybe ask for a different table.
We came for a casual dinner and were in awe for the place, the ambience, the food. The restaurant is set up like a little German chalet very warm and original. The food is outstanding and the selection is also pretty wide. Would definitely come back.
Really enjoyed the potato soup. Of our four entrees, the duck was the best and the goulash wassecondbest. The schnitzel was ok.
Awesome. Favorite spot in Vail. Smoked salmon was amazing.
Beautiful restaurant. The service was great and the food was fantastic. Wonderful experience overall!
Amazing food and great atmosphere! Loved it!
Todo súper rico!
Ethan was amazing!!! He made the whole experience very welcoming and we loved the pretzel and tomato soup! Beautiful environment and will definitely return next time we are in town :)
We've been going to Alpenrose for a long time. We find the food excellent. The concern regarding Alpenrose is its ability to handle groups. The seating plan is constricted for a group of five or more. This year, our group was six plus a baby requiring a high chair. We could not move once seated without forcing adjoining tables to rise and allow egress. We recognize the Alpenrose is simply trying to maximize space but it is causing guests to become less enthusiastic about its ambience and food. If you are not comfortable in the seatinga arrangements it is more difficult for a group to enjoy the experience. And, the Alpenrose needs more coat storage. Everyone comes in wearing gear. There are few coat hooks and, unless you specifically ask, you are unaware that Alpenrose will store a jacket in its back room.
They thought of everything with the charming decor! Great cozy stop on a cold day. We weren’t in town long on our first visit to Vail but this made the experience. Service was quick and friendly, food and drinks were good and presentation was stunning. Duck was a bit dry but there was sauce on the side. Overall worth the price. Our party had 2 babies and they were welcoming. Not crowded on a Saturday at noon but it seemed like the inside tables were all reserved and outside tables were available for walk-up.
Love the restaurant! We go every time we are in Vail.
Loved loved the Spätzle! We’ll be back for the desserts!!! Thank you!!
Loved Alpenrose! Super hip casual European chalet chic decor and our food was delicious. A gem in Vail and we will be back for sure!
There wasn’t a good wine list. Most was undrinkable. We ordered a grapefruit and vodka but they were out of grapefruit. We ordered a dish with a side of potato salad. It came with boiled potatoes. The portions were small and the cost was $38.00.
The decor was adorable but the food was awful.
Traditional German fare in a festive alpine ambience. Friendly service and good value for Vail! Enjoyable times.
the food is not good. The specialty, a swiss fondue with tomatoes ( never heard of such thing in Switzerland, Austria nor French Alps) is really a can of tomato campbell soup mixed with cheddar, served with pieces of commercial sliced brown bread and cherry tomatoes floating in the fondue. Selection of wine is not adequate, only costumes are authentic though nobody dresses like that since Heidi passed away.
True authentic experience
Fun restaurant with an Austrian flare. Enjoyed the ambiance, service and food.
Acogedor chalet! Comida auténtica y excelente servicio
We loved it! Great ambiance, terrific service and a wonderful evening. We will definitely return!
This place is awesome! The service was fast, the servers were polite, the ambiance is just lovely, the food delicious, and I didn’t try the bakery but it looked yummy! Great experience all around. And a kids menu!
I was under-impressed with the food at Alpenrose Vail. There were many extra things on our plates that did not add to the quality of the meal. I think that the idea of this type of food is wonderful but the execution was poor. The cocktails were too sugary and the bread for the fondue was very stale. I know that this may be the style but it wasn't very good.
We can’t wait to go back! Been coming to vail for years and some how have never been! Big mistake!
Dieses Abendessen war am das beste das wir seit lange Zeit essen haben. Wir können nur gut Dinge sagen., und kommen bald zurück.
This was such a well thought out experience. From the accommodating staff, to the beautiful room and food and drinks presentation we felt like family, dining in an alpine fairy tale.
Staff was friendly and very helpful. Overall service was outstanding. The food was also outstanding. Great pretzel, great fondue and loved the schnitzel.
The cheese fondue and tomato soup were good and the caprese salad was OK but the place seemed a bit dead...it's great great great if you like that type of food!~
Awesome spot. Not ridiculously overpriced like most of Vail. Sat at the first date table which was pretty sweet. Would highly recommend and will likely return
The restaurant was welcoming, cozy and warm. Food was delicious and waitstaff was very attentive. A lovely evening was had by all.
